New Species!

As i stepped through the blue portal I felt temperature for the first time in a while, a sense of warmth wrapping around me like a blanket or a hug from my mother.

My footsteps kept in pace with the man in front of me as he hummed a little tune. My mind wasn't concentrated on that however as all around me I saw blooming cherry blossom trees and the mindless dance of birds and critters in the treetops. 

`Finally, now I can reveal this sucker!`

I could feel the giddiness in his voice as he stood before an object with a thick cloth cover over it, his hands wandering over it almost as if he was feeling it up. 'Yep that makes me ill'

`Stop being rude. Anyhow, let me introduce you to the Speciesifier 3000! This baby will allow you to pick any of the basic species you want, it also allows for the bestowal of a higher level species if you go the gacha route.`

I gulped at his explanation as what was in front of me was basically a fancy looking award wheel, "a-are you serious, that thing is the thing that I'll be using...?" With a deep nod he turned to look at the wheel and then gave a triumphant smile.

`It ain't just any wheel missy, its been made using divinity and if you would see this button in the centre...`

I looked where he pointed to see a literal big red button in the middle of the wheel causing me to widen my eyes. 'He literally wants me to push the big red button.'

`Now that ain't true, that's up to you, however, this button allows the wheel to become gacha meaning that you will risk your continued living existence on your luck.`

"Doesn't that mean that the spin wheel for the basic species is basically rigged for whatever i choose?"

He went deadly silent for a minute before sighing heavily and dipping his head down a bit. `You noticed huh? A-anyway, which would you like to pick... you got to be quick I am a god and am busy.`

"Aha, sure, that's why you said you were bored."

`Urk, I can't seem to slip these things by you.` A small satisfied grin met his face as I looked at it, he must be using me to satiate his boredom again, 'comedy routines...'

"Let's go with chance... I don't like the idea of being mediocre, especially if I am sent to a totally non-magical world or reality."

`Very well, let us see how chance or fate takes your initiative.` Another bloody smile appeared on his face as I slightly scowled in his direction.

Ignoring my scowl he pressed the big red button in the centre of the wheel and then with momentous force spun the wheel. Lights flicker along the outer areas of the wheel, as a massive amount of images filled the small and sometimes large categories on the wheel that seemed to expand ever outwards.

The arrow in the centre of the wheel flickered faster than sound as the wheel revealed rare species such as dragon and demon that were much smaller on the board, translating to their likely hood of being landed on I presumed as I watched this spectacle.

'Come on! land on something good!'

I watched as the arrow started to slow down gradually, many species flittered past constantly. However, it wasn't until a minute later that the wheel finally slowed down to the point where the gambit would either pay off or completely ruin me. Rare species and even legendary species flittered past once more as my nerves were drawn thin, like plaster over to much of a dry wall.

The arrow slowed until it was between six different species, just dangling backwards and forwards over them. The one that I noticed was the very very miniscule species with that section that I couldn't even see the name of, that's how small it was.

`Hoh, its close now, just a couple more seconds and...`

As he extended his words the arrow finally stopped, right on top of that very miniscule section that I had noticed earlier. I started to sweat as the weight of my gamble finally hit me and it made my brain a tad bit fuzzy to see the result of it all.

"What did i get?"

The silence was deafening for moments before the man laughed out in pure mirth again.

`Absolutely spectacular! That's what gambling is all about baby, WHEW!`

My eyebrows twitched at his words as I felt cheated, 'did I just gamble like that to satiate his gambling addiction and boredom!?'

`Yep you did! But, hey, it wasn't all about that, now you have a species. A very good one must I say.`

Silence yet again.

"Well, are you going to tell me what it is!?"

`Haha, sorry, i got too excited. Well you got one of the most powerful species in existence but also one of the more troublesome.`

"And? They are called...?"

`Vampiric Angel...`
