Two years ago

Sebastian, Kay, Edgeworth, Ray, Gumshoe and Courtney are hanging out in a bar, recalling all the crazies thing that happened. Until the moment, no one has notice the tension between Kay and Sebastian, both looking totally aloof. They don't know how much time had passed since they broke up... The last time they saw each other. Maybe weeks, maybe months, a year, or many, it doesn't matter. All time feels like an etternity, an etternity that hurts, like a ghost, ubiquitously.

Kay thinks in the things that she realized in that time, that we're both kids. How we can have a healthy mature relationship if we aren't those things. Tha...

"Kay, you've been very quiet, don't tell me Miles taked off your mouth" Says Raymond with a smirk, breaking her thoughts.

"I just... I'm just tired, that's all" She says forcing a timid smile, something that confounded everyone, well, everyone except our youngest prosecutor. They realized that something is odd, but without the trust with her to...

"Are you alright, pal?"

"Yeah, yeah. I't just... My mind is burning, you know"

"You should buy some painkillers" Says judge Courtney "There's a drugstore three blocks away. I can take you there" And without further chatter, she takes Kay by the arm and goes off.

"Well, bye Courtney-pie. So how've been daddy's son"

Raymond asks to a furrowed Sebastian.

"I've been thinkin' in changing my last name. I guess I'd use my mom's"

"And what would that be" Sebastian doesn't know if Edgeworth talked before, besides saying hi, of course, but it's the first time over the evening that he heard his clear voice.

"Cheshire"

"Sebastian Cheshire... Well, I don't know if it fits you but if you like it"

"It isn't about likes and dislikes"

"Yeah, of course. Sorry"

"Girl, what troubles you"

"Really, nothing. I just went to bed really late"

Kay feels the hand over her shoulder following a motherly and sadly-tinge smile and tender-hearted eyes

"Kay... You have to... unburden yourself"

She receives silence and a shifty look.

"It's just... I... We... Sebastian and I..."

The girl talks to the air, and doesn't realize of the tears coming down from her face when she's folded up with a motherly hug, that warms up Kay like a fireplace.

"It's okay, child... It is alright to let that go..."

Courtney says caressing her hair, and with that, and her soft voice, no caring at all of seeing herself crying in the street, she yields, bursting in crying.

"Now, now..." She continues stroking her, until Kay calms down. She looks Courtney with a defeated expression. The judge with a smile grasp Kay by the hand and take her to a park bench.

They sit, in quitness, until Kay breaks it.

"We started dating... Things were, warmly hearty. We hanged out a lot, we played around a lot, we, had a lot of fun" Kay says grining sunnily, to then breaked apart into a frown. "We... Discussed. He said that I'm too inmature for being in a relationship, or, well, I remember feeling that, that, that was he said. I said that he couldn't get over his dad. We haven't talked to each other since then. I'm... so sorry. I, screwed up. And, he was right. I was... I am, a spoiled brat. I just used Sebastian, I didn't realized but I was doin' it. I am too selfish to realized." Kay turns to Courtney with a sad smile, who's voiceless, unable to think a remark.

There's a pause. "But enough whining" Kay stands up and lifts Courtney up.

All the way back, they don't speak, Kay spacing out about Sebastian, and Courney searching about what she could said.

"Sorry... I don't know what should I say to you. Sad as it sounds, I think that you've more experience in this" Courtney says breaking the placid and nice silence.

"It's, okay... I think... There's no more to be said"

"Mmm..." There's a silence, before Courtney's assertion

"Well Kay, the important thing, is that you became aware of your faults, and Sebastian's faults. You're still growing, and that proves it. You are maturing, personally, romantically and emotionally"

"You... Think so?"

"I think so" This time is Kay who surprised Courtney with a vigorous strong hug

"I didn't say that!" Sebastian said crying

"You totally did it!" Raymond clarifies, chucklesome "Ain't that right Miles?"

"Yes. He did" Edgeworth says with one of the ocassional grins of him.

"Come on, you too Mr. Edgeworth"

"Are we interrupting something?" Courtney asks while approaching and setting her hands over Raymond's shoulders"

"Oh, look, it appears that some hot lady wanna hit on me. Ah, Courtney and Kay. Well..."

"Don't" Edgeworth cuts him before he'd process the joke. "Forgive him Justine, Kay. Mr Shields is... Mellow"

"And it looks that you too Mr. Edgeworth, you just called judge Courtney by her fist name!" Gumshoe says loud, laughing

"Argh..." It's Edgeworth's reply, that is follow by a smirk, maybe flirty, of Raymond.

"But, well, how did it go" Raymond asks to the girls, who've already sat down.

"Fine. We.. "

"We picked up something to nibble on"

They continue with its prattle, each hour a bit more drunked, but Courtney and Gumshoe maneged to took Raymond and Edgeworth. Yeah, odd as it sounds Edgeworth exceeded himself with the drinks, thinking that the mojito was less strong than it was.

And, yes, Courteny on purpose leave this two alone.

The silence between them is thick, a dark invisible smock that it is palpable. She looks her finger, fidgeting over the table, trying to kill time, or the moment. She don't know.

"Well, at least they payed the check."

"Hmm? Sorry?"

Well, for Kay it's the ambient in this way. It seems that Sebastian isn't aware of the moment's awkwardness.

"That... Never mind."

A new silence borns, and Kay goes back to her playing. She doesn't realize that this is different from before. Sebastian isn't floating mentally anymore, he is watching her, watching her playing. Kay notices and fastens an unfeeling and deep stare. Sebastian disconcerts himself, reacting with a lil' and delayed flinch. Kay gives him a sad smile in response, and unexpectedly, Sebastian blushes a little. Almost without difference between the alcohol-redded blush and the oh-fuck-redded blush. The seconds drips, with Kay again hiding herself in her thumps and Sebastian looking her, but this time the silence is totally broken.

"Kay... I..."

"It's okay... You don't have to."

"No. It's not okay, and..." Sebastian's eyes starts to water slowly "Kay, I was an ass. I said things that, maybe I should said but not in the way I did it. I..." In that moment Sebastian breaks in tears. Kay, without knowing what to do, just watch him, with a a combination of pity, sadness and a little of rage.

"Sorry... I... Kay..."

"Sebastian. I, I know. We fucked up." A pause borns, one that a dot isn't enough to fill it. "And we regret that with our souls".

"...you know the worst of losing you. I lost a person that I loved, my girl, and a friend..."

"Your... Friend? You girlfriend... Was your friend"

"Yes. She was. I had confident with her, I could telled her everything in my mind, my feelings, with no problem. I had fun with her. It was... I was... Yes, she was the best friend of mine"

Kay grins jolly. "If I hadn't gotcha I would kissed you." Kay takes Sebastian's hands and fits it with hers. "But I understand you. Let's be friends." She drops his hands, and punches Sebastian with a chuckle; Sebastian's lock of hair stands up, making Kay laugh harder and they go back two years ago.
