After a while, Conrad also came forward to greet her.

"Happy birthday."

He seemed to contemplate whether to call her name but opted not to upon seeing her distant expression.

"Thank you for coming, Lord Conrad."

Hearing her reserved response, Conrad understood. Right, it's better this way.

"I apologize for the inconveniences we brought and I wish you happiness."

"Yes, thank you. I, too, wish the same for you."

It's the closure they needed. Although, does Nadia really need closure? Well then, at the least, the issue is cleared between them.

Conrad nodded to Lukas before leaving.

"What a suave guy," Lukas remarked.

"Suave?"

"He's a decent man. I can respect that."

Nadia has question marks written all over her face.

"?"

'Is he a fool?'

Lukas laughed at her expression.
