Re: Rune Factory ~A Fantasy Harvest Moon~

Falling out of the sky from a height that I could have died from, waking up in an unfamiliar and strange place wherever I looked, and not remembering a shred of who I really am. This is how it all started... This is how my new life began in this fantastic world. ____________________________________ "English is not my main language, but I try my best." This fanfic is based on the Rune Factory videogame saga. At the same time, it encompasses its entire universe with some pretty significant changes. The beginning is really quiet, but that is completely necessary to fully develop the story in the future and discover all the mysteries of the world, enjoy the story and discover for yourself what time hid for everyone.

Day 283: Basic Knowledge (I)

[Daily mission completed.]

Blake's sword had just crossed the air before its edge cut the figure of one of the walking apples that seemed to invade the entire Privera forest. Once the Pomme-Pomme rose into the sky as a sphere of light, Blake's mind was attacked by that notification that made him remember why he was in that place, and he focused on it.

He wasn't eliminated, or to put it more elegantly, he wasn't returning monsters to the forest of beginnings for the sake of it. Just when he left Daria's house and became aware of the new feature of the system, the first thing he did was go into the forest to check that there was no mistake with what he had understood, and the next thing that appeared in front of him reinforced still plus the idea that he was right.

{Daily mission completed.

Defeat five monsters. 5/5.

Reward: Mystery box.}

After he had defeated the last monster, a semi-transparent screen appeared in front of Blake and it displayed the data on the daily mission that he had seen earlier. The conditions had been completed, or so it seemed, and the "reward" section was glowing as if he wanted to tell Blake to touch it.

"Well... I must say, it's nice to go back to the old days." Although Blake was perhaps exaggerating a bit, he couldn't deny that he was quite pleased with the results. It was true that the extra reward he got from requests was not surprising in most cases.

And the fact that he had lost the benefit of receiving mystery boxes upon completing them had further reduced his earnings, so re-experiencing the grace of the system and the characteristics of the mystery boxes, brought back an emotion he already knew quite well.

At this precise moment, Blake saw how the screen with the information disappeared so that later a light was generated in the same place and he had to raise his hands in its direction since he could guess what was coming next.

A rather peculiar box in terms of design was generated in the same place as before, its metallic color, as well as its rigid texture, made it quite interesting and a slight smile took over Blake's face when he finally knew that everything was real.

His hands did not enjoy that feeling of contact as they had quickly moved with the sole purpose of opening the box that was now between them. Perhaps someone might think that experimenting with the mystery boxes had become a bit of an addiction for Blake, but even if he considered that, he wouldn't have enough reason to stop.

The lid of the box flew off once it was removed. No strange phenomena occurred because of it, but it wasn't long before the box began to turn into whatever Blake's reward would be.

Despite everything and the excitement he was experiencing, he did not have high expectations as he remembered all his interactions with the mystery boxes. It was true that he sometimes received quite a few benefits or interesting things, but just like his thoughts, the situation was developing that way.

"Is it some kind of medicine?" Blake's question was not without reason. The metal box from before had gone through a whole transformation process, that was already something normal since all the mysterious boxes left behind their original forms to become what was going to come out of them, and in this case, what Blake had now in his hands was a small jar made of metal with a shape that he could only compare to the containers he had seen a few times in the drugstore, but that thought didn't stop him from borrowing the help of his dear emotionless friend.

{Protein boost. Level 1.

A supplement created by a special process. Sometimes it is not good to abuse that kind of "help", but this product is free of side effects.

Effect when consumed: STR +1

Duration: Permanent

Selling price: 500G.}

Blake needed to read that information more than once to be sure. Maybe he was being too forewarned or paranoid, but he had adopted that nature due to the passing of days and all the strange situations in which he had been involved.

His reward's description looked tempting enough, though he was concerned that they would have to stress the fact that there were no side effects. The main effect looked amazingly good and that made him remember the information that some foods showed. He also suffered from an increase in his statistics when consumed them, but unlike the supplement he had with him, those effects only lasted a couple of hours.

"Anyway... It's like Marian says, if I don't try it, I won't know if it's a revolutionary medicine... Though I'm pretty sure she doesn't try it on herself." Putting aside his sudden thoughts, Blake wasted no more time and He went on to open the jar that was still with him and then turn it over and let the contents fall into his hand.

A red sphere was the first thing that appeared before Blake's sight, there was really nothing more important to mention about it, it was as if that was all the beauty and mystery it could show, there was no scent emanating from it or that conveyed a strange sensation on contact with Blake's skin.

He took that object that he considered a pill, he was still hesitating a bit, he had even brought it close to his nose only to be convinced a second later that there was no characteristic odor. He took it between two of his fingers and looked at it carefully again, perhaps it wasn't the first time that he had taken something peculiar to his mouth, and following that same thought, a single comment came out of him.

"They say you should live each day as if it were your last, I guess that's my day-to-day..." And with that last thought, Blake opened his mouth waiting for what cruel fate had in store for him.

If you like the story, add it to the library, share it, and comment. Any idea is welcome.
