Departure

It was too weird. Killing 20 monsters should give me more experience than that. I should have leveled up by 2 levels already but that didn't happen. More importantly, looking at the system notification, I noticed that it was slightly different than last time. This time around, it showed only the loots obtained. There was no experience related notifications. The same can be said about my status. It used to show how much experience I have and how much I need to level up but right now it doesn't anymore. It is as if these didn't exist in the first place. No matter how much I thought about it, I couldn't find any explanation. The only thing that I deduced in the end was that leveling up is harder than I thought. After all i killed dozens of monsters with a level higher than mine but all I did was leveling only once and that was after killing the last monster at that. 'this will be truly troublesome' is what I thought. I hunted 5 monsters to level up from level 1 to level 2 and now I needed to hunt 20 monsters to level up from 2 to 4. Who knows how many I need to hunt in higher levels. I couldn't help but smile bitterly.

The more I thought about it the more my head hurted me so I decided to stop thinking about it. After that I killed few more monsters trying to level up but to no avail. All I did was exhausting all my mp so I had no other choice but to call it a day and go back to the town. I again took one <heart of wind> out and with a single shout "recall", I was instantly teleported to the town appearing in the same respawning place as last time. Looking around me, I noticed that some peoples were gazing at me weirdly. Probably because of my sudden appearance out of nowhere. It seems that <heat of wind> doesn't exist here. But thinking more about it, I changed my mind. Peoples reaction after my appearance doesn't mean necessarily that this item doesn't exist. Maybe it do exist but was a rare or expensive item. An item that helps send its user to any nearby town should be expensive. It's can be useful in many situations after all and it can even be a life saving object.'This item, I should not casually use it anymore it seems.'

Anyway, I ignored them and directly entered the guild in front of me. As usual, the receptionist was in the same spot as always and the guild hall was crowded with other adventurers. Some were drinking and chatting, others were eating. As whole, it was so energetic and lively. The life of an adventurer is so good, unrestrained by anything. They can do what they want, work anytime they want, rest any time they want, travel and explore. It was the life I wanted to live, so much different than my old life where I did approximately the same things everyday. "Welcome sir, how can i help you today?" said the receptionist with a sweet and slight smile making me wake up from my dizziness. "I finished my quests and I came here for the reward. Take this and check it." As I said that I stretched my right hand and put a black bag on the table in front of her. Checking on the bag, she showed a slight astonishment but she quickly nodded and gave me a small back as she said :"This is your reward, 150 gelt. 70 gelt for the fungie hunting quest and 80 for other one. If you finish another quest you will be able to take the ranking up examination and if you succeed you can become a rank D adventurer. Good luck sir." Hearing what she said, I didn't have any reaction. I don't care about the guild ranks after all. Strength is all what does matter in this world. The rule of the wildness.'The strong eat the weak' or something like that. I thanked the woman, took the bag and stored it in my inventory then headed back to the inn.

Reaching my destination, I noticed that the inn master wasn't there. There was a different woman in charge. I ate my dinner and told the woman about my departure tomorrow then went to my room and called it a day. After exhausting all my mp today killing monsters, I naturally needed some rest  to recover. I needed to regain my peak condition. Tomorrow is my first adventure after all.
