Alpha

ROOOAAARRR!!!

The beast roared in pain as the blazing flames swallowed and scorched its body violently. Even so, it managed to stay on its feet and lunged at Alan, aiming to bite his head which was only a meter away.

Alan swiftly ducked and rolled away, narrowly avoiding the flaming beast's attack. He quickly rose to his feet, poised in a defensive stance, anticipating any suicidal attack the beast might throw at him.

Fortunately, the beast was still preoccupied with the fire and unable to launch an immediate attack. Thanks to the high alcohol content of the liquor, the flames continued to burn vigorously, steadily chipping away at the creature's health points.

Based on his experience, such a monster should have around 400 to 500 HP, subtracted by the damage he inflicted with the gun before, he counted that the fire only needed to burn for about 25 to 30 seconds before the creature would eventually succumb.

Alan couldn't help but wish he didnt drop the gun before, or at least if he has a spear, he could expedite the process. With just a [Hunting Knife] in his possession, he could do little to hasten the beast's demise.

When he saw that the flames were about to die down in under 10 seconds, he quickly threw the second [Liquor Bottle], reigniting the creature's agony.

"Two should do the job," Alan remarked as he kept the last [Liquor Bottle] and stowed away the other items in his backpack.

To his surprise, the wolf, driven by pain and desperation, leaped toward him, catching him off guard. The beast's massive jaws aimed for Alan's head, but he managed to twist his body at the last moment, causing the wolf's fangs to sink into his shoulder instead.

[Bite: Inflicts 38 Damage]

"ARGH!!" Alan cried out, the excruciating pain shooting through his body. Refusing to be a passive victim, he thrust his hand forward, driving his blade ruthlessly into the wolf's body. A horrifying roar of pain resounded through the air.

[Stabbing: Inflicts 24 Damage]

Alan lacked the strength to free himself from the beast's powerful grip, but fortunately, the running he had done earlier had given the [Medicated Bandage] enough time to fully heal his wounds. Meanwhile, the creature seemed to be nearing the end of its endurance.

"Let's see who dies first!" Alan shouted, determination shining in his eyes as he pushed the dagger deeper into the wolf's body.

[Stabbing: Inflicts 20 Damage]

ARGH!

[Bite: Inflicts 36 Damage]

The beast's bite grew more ferocious, as if it were ready to tear Alan's shoulder apart. Waves of excruciating pain coursed through Alan's body. In response, Alan pulled the blade out of the creature's body, causing blood to spurt everywhere, before delivering a final stab closer to the wolf's neck.

[Stabbing: Lethal Attack. Inflicts 42 Damage]

First stab. The wolf still held Alan's shoulder within its mouth. Second stab. Its body began to tremble and writhe. And with the third stab, the beast threw him into the distance.

[Impact: Inflicts 10 Damage]

Alan quickly gathered all the strength he had left to apply the [Medicated Bandage] to himself once again.

[Healing: 49 HP Recovered in 2 minutes]

[HP: 66/140]

[Stamina: 38/100]

[Status: Heavily wounded]

On the other hand, the beast slowly rose to its feet. Though it was covered in bloody wounds and burns, its malevolent eyes were fixed on Alan's figure.

However, the information about the Alpha had changed.

[Night Wolf]

[Type: Magical Beast]

[Status: Critical]

This status indicated that the creature had less than 20% of its health remaining.

The Alpha wolf should only have around 100 HP or even less, something Alan could work with. However, he needed to stay on his toes, and with the healing effect still providing him with 1 HP every 2.4 seconds, Alan decided to lure the wolf away once again.

"Let's go for another run!"

Alan's heart pounded as he ran back toward the Library, with the ferocious creature hot on his tail, closing in on him. The adrenaline surged through his veins, fueling his every movement.

As he prepared to confront the beast once more, his eyes caught a flicker of movement from the corner of his vision. Just as the wolf was about to pounce on him, an object flew through the air with incredible speed, striking the beast mid-air. The force of the impact halted the creature's charge, sending it crashing to the ground with a thunderous thud.

It was a spear, and it had come from a figure in the distance—Daniel Judge.

The sight of Daniel risking himself to protect him filled Alan with worry. Not for his own safety, but for the safety of his student who had become the beast's prime target.

"Go Daniel!! Go!!" Alan shouted, hoping that Daniel could find a way to escape the menacing creature. However, the effort was visibly draining Daniel, and exhaustion was evident in his every movement. He had pushed his body to its limits, and there was no more stamina left for him to dodge the relentless attacks of the Night Wolf.

"NO!!" Alan couldn't stand idly by. He ran as fast as his legs could carry him, determined to help Daniel in any way possible.

But just as it seemed all hope was lost, a sudden sound of a gunshot pierced through the tense air.

BAM! BAM!! BAM!

Three shots and two manage to strike the beast causing the gigantic creature to shake violently before dropping to the ground, motionless.

From the direction of the library, Alan saw Vicky holding the gun he had dropped before. Her hands trembled slightly, but her eyes burned with determination. She had managed to land the critical shots that saved Daniel from certain doom.

[You have killed the Wolf Alpha]

[You gained 500 XP and 250 survival points]

Though Alan didn't deal the final blow, the game mechanics stated that as long as he dealt significant damage, he would still receive a reward, especially since he had done most of the damage. Daniel and Vicky, who had aided in the kill, would also receive a portion of the reward.

[You have completed the E-level quest]

[You received 200 survival points, 200 XP, and one E-rank reward]

The Alpha had finally fallen, and they emerged victorious. Despite their dire conditions, they had managed to defeat a boss-level monster.

His attention was quickly drawn to something else. From the creature's carcass, Alan caught a glimpse of a glowing green box. A surprised yet delighted look instantly colored his face.

"A Rare Drop Box."

This drop was a reward for killing the Alpha, granting only him access to its contents. He eagerly opened the box and found a remarkable item inside, causing his fatigue to momentarily fade away.
