[Day 12]

The incident that happened in the dark woods the other day was investigated by the University, and it was revealed that the mouse was genetically modified making it grow thrice its average size. The perpetrator is not yet caught so the dark woods was locked down for security purposes and all quests that require anyone to go inside it was canceled.

During the investigation, our Faction did a few more quests allowing us to properly furnish our room. We got ourselves a smelting furnace where we disintegrate excess equipment to enhance the ones we use, we also got a synthesizer where we can combine gems.

The leader, Niira also decided to expand our Faction and thus reassigned the roles and gave us all work to do.

Leader: Niira

The main job is to oversee the Faction

Deputy Leader: Arinael

She is in charge of quest selection and furnishing of the room

Home Secretary: Vasilisa

Manages the expenses and records

Diplomat: BaekGi

Handles relationships with other factions

Diplomat: Minzie

Handles application for new members

Elites: Syane and ChubbyNita

Recruits new members

Minzie: "Remind me again on why I'm the one who manages application?"

Niira: "I trust in you Min"

Minzie: "Then, I'll reject them all, is that fine Leader Niira?"

Niira: "Sure, no problem with that"

Minzie: "You heard her, here burn these papers", I tossed the list to Chubs and she looked at me with concern evident on her face.

Chubs: "Why?"

Minzie: "Because"

Vasi: "Just do as she says"

Chubs: "O-kay?"

Chubs left the room with the papers and after awhile Syane came storming in.

Syane: "Min! Why the hell would you burn the list we worked hard to fill?"

Minzie: "Chels, a girl who never bothers to learn anything and instead spends all her time to talk to practically anyone she sees, she doesn't even know the basics about her equipment despite several people constantly teaching her. Math, an arrogant 2nd-year student who also doesn't know anything while saying that he's gonna one day trample on the top students, might I add that he's a big pervert. Amai, a person who thinks everyone likes his sleazy ways and bullies people who disagree with him and the rest of them, I don't need to explain one by one. We appreciate your effort, but we can't just accept anyone unless you want Winter Lily to never grow"

Syane: "Right. I'm sorry, I'll try to be more careful on who to recruit"

Minzie: "I'm sorry too, I didn't mean to undermine your effort, I'm also sorry Chubs, for not properly explaining... I got ahead of myself"

Arinael: "All's well that ends well"

Minzie: "But I never said that we won't be recruiting, let's go we need new members if we want to expand our Faction"

Chubs: "Aye"

Syane: "Sure"

We walked along the campus, asking people if they're interested in joining us. We got some potential ones but most of them already have one, well that is to be expected, a lot of people would prefer an already established faction.

Chubs: "How about we try over there?"

Minzie: "No that's alright, I've got an idea"

We moved to the central plaza, Syane and I wore our armor, faced each other and bowed.

As I explained to them earlier we will showcase our fighting ability to attract a crowd and Chubs will hand out the flyers. I had Syane teach me a few things when we had the chance, so I can say with confidence that I won't be easily defeated.

Syane: "Blazing Spear", he enchanted a magical attack that is commonly used among Scholars and integrated the flames to his spear.

Minzie: "Earth Wall", with a swish of my fan I summoned a barrier made of soil in front of me and immediately chanted my next spell.

Minzie: "Dance.."

*Crack* The wall I put up crumbled with a single slash from Syane's spear.

Syane: "Haaaa!"

Minzie: "Flame Burst!"

Syane: "Shi-!"

When he felt the heat from my spell he jumped back but the fire still manages to crawl to his left arm.

Syane: "Min do you want to roast me or something?"

Minzie: "Says the one with a spear on fire"

Syane: "You're not supposed to counter fire with fire, ack! dammit I'm gonna make you pay for this"

Minzie: "Now now, don't be a poor sport Syane"

Chubs: "Guys, I think that's enough, Minzie you can't cast any spell at your current state and Syane is hurt, let's go to the infirmary"

She was right, the method we're using is unstable, it causes us to use too much energy if not mastered, the only good side to this is the speed of casting spells which is always an advantage in any fight. Normally, students and instructors alike cast long spells that stabilize their energy and thus they can properly distribute magic, but ever since I met Syane my perspective about casting spells to broaden.

That time when he saved me from the Bean Mouse, I heard him cast "Bolt" instead of the regular incantation which is "Thunder, wave through time and rumble, Electric Bolt", though up to this point only the two of us in Winter Lily practices this method due to its dangerous nature.

Minzie: "Okay"

Syane: "Alright"

While Syane was being treated, Chubs sat down next to me.

Chubs: "Wasn't that dangerous?"

Minzie: "It is, but that's the only way to attract new members"

Chubs: "Won't we get in trouble for messing with magic incantations?"

Minzie: "We have Mr. Yi for this kind of things"

Chubs: "I feel sorry for Mr. Yi, having a troublesome student like you"

I glared at her and she ran to Syane.

This might not be the best choice but it's the only one we got, we can't compare to other Factions, from their size, resources and accomplishments, it's simply a fight with the titans that's why instead of following their trails, Winter Lily needs to create their path.
