“Pain doesn’t bother me anymore.” Libs grinned at him, fangs flashing. “Give up, you can’t escape me.”

“Good thing I’m not alone.” Rory flattened himself to the ground and clenched his eyes shut.

A split second later, Blaise’s armoured head smashed into Liberty’s side, throwing him off Rory. He tumbled several meters and got to his feet. Rory swung himself into Blaise’s saddle and the two of them faced off against Libs once more. Blaise gleamed with metal plating, having sprouted her own armour after Libs had thrown her.

They stared one another down, Liberty’s eyes blazing and Blaise’s tail lashing back and forth in agitation. Rory drew his pistols and grinned at his opponent.

“Bullets don’t hurt me,” Libs said, voice rough.

“These aren’t bullets,” Rory replied, smirking.
