“This place is stunning,” Philip said.
“It certainly is,” Charles said. “Is that a maze over to our left?”
“Yeah,” Eric said. “It’ll be a few years before those hedges are tall enough to be effective, but it’s a start.”
He put the truck in drive and proceeded up the driveway to a vantage point near the front steps.
“That canopy over the front steps is a nice touch,” Charles said, “but it isn’t original, is it?”
“Not at all,” Eric said, “but it comes in handy when it’s raining. I’m going to drive you around to the rear entrance. We’ll have a tour of the house after a bit.”
“We’re in your hands,” Philip said.
It hadn’t taken long for their guests to get situated in the first pair of guest rooms upstairs, and Eric and Carlton were giving them a guided tour of the house. When they were once again in the upstairs family room, Eric said, “If you folks will excuse me, I need to get started on our dinner.”
