Damn. Twenty missed calls? Is it urgent? Does he want me to clean something at home? Or want me to search for something? I rang Ayden's number since I received a missed call from him. Seems urgent.
"Hello darling, where are you, baby girl?" he said in a musical tone. I let out a giggle. But I still think that he needs something.
"Still at the mall. Why?"
"Okay, but which shop?" he asked again. Where is he though? It's kinda noisy. I frowned.
"Hmm, I'm at Le Pain Cafè. What about you? Aren't you at the gallery? Do you need something?" He chuckles. Why? Did I say something funny? Is it my pronunciation?
"Okay~ I'll see you later okay!" he said happily and hung up. I stared at the black screen phone with a frown. So what did he want to the point that he needed to call me twenty times? Weirdo! My eyes switch to the menu, still grumbling.
This is a hard one. I don't know what to eat. I squinted my eyes, most of the dish names are in French.
"Miss?" I looked up at the person who was talking. "May I take your order?"
Yikes, did I take too long, but I haven't finished looking yet.
"Err...umm I'll just take cheesy skillet hash brown with eggs and uhh just a cold water please?" I said, a little nervous. I closed the menu and gave it to him. The waiter even laughed at me.
"You sure? You can take a look more," he said with a smirk.
Then why the hell do you come and give me pressure??
"No, it's fine. That's all. Thank you." I said with a straight face. But he was still standing there even though he already took an order and the menu. I frowned.
"Are you perhaps alone?"
Ughh doesn't talk to me! I'm already tired from talking too much with cashiers and sales assistants today.
"No," I said, starting to look at my phone, sending a signal for him to leave. I could hear him chuckling and finally gone.
I sighed. It is so tiring. Should I go home? Maybe I should go home. I already have nine bags. But I need to check out Diana's new collection at the makeup store too.
"Hey, gorgeous." I looked up at the familiar voice and smiled. So that's what he meant, he'll see me soon. I smiled wider.
"Hi, handsome," I said, resting my chin on both of my hands. "Is this what you meant just now? You're done with work? I thought you'll be busy for the whole day?"
He chuckles, folding his sleeves and brushing off the hair that falls over his face. I took off my hair tie from my hand and passed it to him, and he tied his front hair up. Cute!
"Have you eaten yet?" he asked, glancing at the waiter as he sent him a sign for a menu. Ayden Winter has a special talent, he never answer your question.
"I just ordered, I didn't know you're coming. You should tell me, I can order for you too."
He chuckles again. Why is he sweating though? I wipe his sweat with my sleeves. Which make him flickered his eyes toward me and I got chill because of it. That's too...sexy. Wow.
"Ah! Yes, I still have work, but I want to see you since you're so...beautiful today. It's blinding. So I grab an Uber and come here. And ran to you so we won't miss each other. Hehe." he's grinning, eyeing the menu. I'm sorry for being sarcastic before, he does answer every question you ask. My bad. He quickly orders for garlic mushroom toastie sandwich and hot doppio espresso. As soon as the waiter gone, I quickly ask him,
"Why Uber? Where's your car?"
"Office. Now you have to send me there after lunch baby, can you?" He lifted his hand to the waiter to order and I'm panicking.
Send him where? It took two hours and a half to come here because I kept taking the wrong turn.
I glanced at him.
As I thought, he always wears white or black or grey. Look at him now, looking good in his black long sleeve shirt.
And I think he would look good if he wore a ring since he has such nice fingers and hands. I grabbed his fourth finger and tried to measure it. Hmm..is it as big as my index finger? And mine as big as his pinky.
"So what did you buy? That's a lot of bags," he said, chuckling as he played with my fingers now. What are we? Teenagers? But I like this kind of thing, I think we are cute! Haha.
"Hm? Stuff. I'll show you soon."
"Is there anything else you have to buy? Or do you want to buy it? Or do you need to buy it?"
"Hmm I will probably visit a makeup store after this, Diana asked me to buy her collection as support from a friend. Usually, I just order it online but since I'm already out, I'll just visit the shop."
I glanced at the waiter who was smiling widely as he put my meal in front of me and Ayden, and he even put something we didn't even order and I looked at Ayden. The waiter already left and I can't even say that we didn't order this dessert.
He laughed at me and ruffled my head and called for the waiter again. Did he notice?
"Hi, we didn't order this, perhaps you got the wrong table?" I glanced at the waiter and that man smiled proudly and looked at me.
"It's in the house for a beautiful lady like you, miss."
I frowned and quickly looked at Ayden. He clenched his jaws and he smiled at the waiter but his eyes didn't. That's so cold.
"And what is this dessert? It looks fantastic," he said in a monotone voice.
"Melted Dark Chocolate cake, topped with a cream, sir."
"Alright, thank you."
The waiter left us and we both looked at the dessert quietly.
"Well...let's eat," he said, smiling even wider. And I just laughed at his fake smile.
And we dug in our meal silently, and I just stared at the dessert. After I finished, I scooped it with a spoon and shove the spoon in front of him.
"Try it," I said, blinking at him, trying to copy his puppy face. He frowned his brows and his hand clenched his left chest, and slowly opened his mouth and tasted the dessert.
"Umm...scrumptious. Even better since you feed me."
"Really, actually I'm scared that it might be poisonous, so I feed you first, so if you die, at least I can survive."
He scowled, and grabbed the spoon from me, and muttered with his sweetest voice.
"Baby, if I die, then you need to die too. Here, have some." I glanced at the cake, and slowly opened my mouth and took a bite. The chocolate melted inside my mouth and gave that sweet and bitter taste, a perfect combination of chocolate cake. Not too sweet and not too bitter. It's good. I licked my lips since I felt like the chocolate smeared on my lips.
"Mm, that's really good!" I exclaimed.
"Yeah, it is," he said and cleared his throat and fed me more. He took a bite in turn and we finally finished off the plate. I'm full.
"Shall we go to your final destination? The makeup store?" He stood up and grabbed all of my bags and frowned but he didn't say anything. He walked to the counter when he assured me that I followed him.
He paid for the meal before I could and grabbed my hand as soon as he was done, and walked out from the cafe.
We walked side by side, as his fingers locked into mine, and he swung our hands a little.
"Is this shop okay? Or you want to see the other one?" We stopped in front of the store. God, that's a lot of people there. I groaned by myself, took a deep breath and nodded.
And we enter the shop and the sales assistant comes to us right away, I just can't scream go away inside my brain.
"May I know what you're looking for?" she asked, with a smile and her eyes was on him. Flirtatiously. is she flirting with him? In front of me?
"No, thanks," he said, sounding a bit cold despite his smiling face.
No, thanks?
"Pft!" I bit my lips as I realised that I laughed without knowing, making her look at me. Ah, now you see me.
"Well if you need any …" he dragged me past her before she could finish her word. That was mean, but I don't mind that. I mean...why did she ask him over me? Did he look like a man who wears makeup?
"That's so mean," I said, jabbing his arm. He let out a soft laugh and snaked his hand around my waist, bent his head over and whispered.
"I don't like her."
"You just met her," I whispered back, finally found the section for Omorfiá, Diana's brand.
Hmm...let's see...a new lip tint, that's a lot of shades, so I took the first shade.
And, what else she asked to buy?
I rummaged through my bag and took out my phone. I checked her latest messages.
A lip tint, blusher and eyebrow pencil.
A blusher...a blusher? I looked at the blusher. I glanced at him, who suddenly touched my hair and tucked it behind my ear for a second and back at the products.
Would it look good if I take the third shade? It looks pretty, pearl blush and maybe I should take this rosewater blush too.
I looked at the eyebrow pencil one. I shrugged, took the ashes brown and turned to Ayden, who was also eyeing the cosmetic product in front of him. Ah, he already unties his hair.
"I'm done, I'll be right back okay?" I said and he nodded, still eyeing the product. I went to the counter and was ready to check out.
"Are you sure you're going to buy this?" I looked up at the sales assistant and nodded. I took out my card and was about to pay, but Ayden way too fast, he gave his card first. I glanced at him and he smiled at me.
"Baby, this one too." he put down a red lipstick from Diana's brand.
That's the wrap for shopping day today. And I will never come here to shop anymore since it's literally nerve-wracking.
