"Let's just leave, so that we won't be getting in his way!"
Hearing Liu Wei's words, Yu Qingyu couldn't help but grit his teeth. But he couldn't say anything in response.
Although he was terrified to death by the monster in front of him, he was their master after all. His skills were far superior. Besides, if not face the demon himself, then what else he was supposed to do? Zhao Weixin wouldn't have been of much help, even if he wasn't injured. And Liu Wei…
Liu Wei might not kill Yu Qingyu himself, likely because his system told him not to, but who's to say he wouldn't push Yu Qingyu to his death? Yu Qingyu was willing to bet 500 points that Liu Wei would be overjoyed if he were to perish at the hands of the demon!
So, it was really for the best that both of them were leaving.
Still, he couldn't understand why Liu Wei would bother saving Zhao Weixin. He might not have figured out what Yu Qingyu's mission is in this world, but still. Since Yu Qingyu was putting some effort into Zhao Weixin's training, shouldn't Liu Wei do anything to sabotage it?
All of those turbulent thoughts were going through his mind as he jumped around the room frantically, avoiding all of the demon's attacks.
[Host, use your sword. With Gu Huiji's skills, you can defeat the demon easily. Dodging all the time will only make you tired,] 520 suddenly spoke up. Although it was not capable of any feelings or emotions, seeing Yu Qingyu's actions seemed to make it understand what frustration is a bit better.
"B-but how?" Yu Qingyu uttered out loud, his mind blank out of fear.
He did use Gu Huiji's sword arts before when sparring with his disciples, but right now, he seemed to have forgotten it all!
[Just unsheathe your sword and attack. You should be able to handle it naturally then.]
Yu Qingyu grabbed his sword with a shaking hand, clenching his fingers around the hilt so hard that his knuckles turned white. He took a deep breath and straightened his back, facing the demon.
He launched his first attack, a quick slash from the right. It came out incredibly awkward. Once he made his first move, however, it felt like his body started moving on its own. He attacked and defended himself acting on instinct, delivering precise, powerful blows, without even a single thought in between. It didn't take long before the demonic qi began to subside, and soon, all that remained was a small corpse of a demonic creature resembling a wolf on the ground.
Yu Qingyu lowered his arms, the tip of his sword hitting the floor. '…Is it over?'
[It seems so.]
Yu Qingyu exhaled slowly. With the tension gone, his knees finally gave up, and he sat, or rather dropped, down on the floor.
He looked around the damaged room, the walls, floor, ceiling, and all the furniture, covered in sword and claw marks, and blood. It was a disaster. Would the owner ask him for recompensation? Perhaps, but Yu Qingyu didn't care about it right now. At least he survived…
His eyes widened all of a sudden. That's right, what about Zhao Weixin? In the heat of the battle, he completely forgot about that!
He jumped right onto his feet and ran out of the room. "Weixin? Molin?" he tried calling his disciples, but there was no response. With the demons dead, the whole house was once again silent and still.
Liu Wei couldn't have possibly kidnapped Zhao Weixin… Right?
Not knowing where to go, Yu Qingyu jumped on his sword and flew over to check the inn first.
As soon as he entered, he exhaled with relief. There was a lot of commotion in the dining area, people talking in slightly hushed voices, seemingly greatly alarmed. On the side, a few screens were set up, partially shielding a part of the room from the rest. In front of those screens, blocking the view, stood Liu Wei, the back of his purple uniform soaked in blood. As he stood with his back facing the entrance, he hadn't noticed Yu Qingyu's arrival.
It seemed that after leaving the scene of the fight, Liu Wei brought Zhao Weixin straight to the inn, in order to get his wounds treated.
Sensing somebody approach, Liu Wei turned his head around. As soon as he saw Yu Qingyu come back unharmed, a hint of disappointment flashed through his eyes. He quickly concealed his expression though, replacing it with fake concern. "Shizun," he greeted Yu Qingyu, bowing his head lightly.
"How is he?" Yu Qingyu asked, taking a glance behind the screens.
"He lost a lot of blood, but his life is not in danger."
Zhao Weixin was sitting on the bench, still conscious, but with his eyes glistening and out of focus. His face was pale, and he was shivering, his breathing uneven. With his uniform stripped off his upper body, the expanse of mangled flesh was on full display. It was bound to leave some scars.
A middle-aged woman knelt in front of him, carefully cleaning his wounds. The water in the basin next to her had already turned red from the blood. As she pressed the wet cloth against Zhao Weixin's chest, the young man didn't even have much of a reaction. He never twisted his mouth or hissed from pain, only his shoulders shook slightly from time to time.
His life might not be in danger, but his condition still didn't look too well.
Yu Qingyu let out a sigh. "Go to sleep now," he said, turning to Liu Wei. "The demons are dead. We'll deal with everything tomorrow, and then we'll rent a carriage and return to the sect. I want our healers to take a look at Weixin as soon as possible."
"I understand." Liu Wei bowed lightly. He was about to walk away, but paused and took one more glance at Yu Qingyu. "What about Shizun? Shizun is not going to sleep?"
Yu Qingyu shook his head in response. "I'll watch over Weixin tonight."
Liu Wei stood in place for a while, observing Yu Qingyu with a dark and unreadable expression in his eyes, his brows furrowed. Eventually, he turned around with a sigh, his eyes getting even darker, and walked away.
