2.8: Little Omega Girl

Later on in the week, they had again summoned Setia to the Alpha's manor. Another council meeting was going to be in session. They had forwarded her an email on the agenda: which included the beast threat, and impending war with a neighboring city, Vaede.

When she arrived, a couple of Omegas that served in the manor showed her the way to the war room, which was a few doors down from where she'd ducked into during the ball. She placed her card on the scanner and it glowed green. Walking into the room, she was slightly underwhelmed by what she saw.

It was a large office-like room, with an Oak round table in the center of the room, and chairs around the outside. There were about twenty chairs. A few of the council members were already seated, so she made her way in and took a seat. She'd remembered to mask her scent this morning. The only way for these people to tell she is an Omega would be for them to physically touch her skin, or by her scent.

People filtered in and sat around the table. She recognized the blonde man from the ball the other night. Struggling to remember his name… It didn't come to her. She felt a bit like a schoolgirl, prepared at the meeting with a notebook and pen. Everyone else looked rather casual.

People sat at attention when the Alpha strode into the room. It filled the room with his spicy scent. He sat at the chair at the head of the table and motioned for the rest of us to be at ease.

"Thank you all for coming, I know we organized this last minute." He started. He placed his hands down on the table in front of him. "The beasts in the wastes have been attacking villages on the outskirts of the cities. Raiding and killing, taking humans back as prisoners to kill later. We need to organize more defensive forces for the outskirts' villages. Protection. We need to work on how we're going to face these groups." His voice was deep and melodious.

"Should we send out raiding parties to take out their nests and towns?" The blonde man she recognized said.

"It's risky, Roy. We don't want to lose more good men on suicide missions. These things are vicious." He said with a sigh.

"Do we have no weapon that could combat them?" Setia said nervously. The men from the council turned to look at her. She was hinting at the military technology they were developing, although she knew little about it. A muscle twitched in the Alpha's face.

(Ding! Community approval meter has raised to 20%)

"No. We have blaster guns that incinerate their flesh, but they are in limited supply of soldiers. Their numbers are great, we would have to amass an army." He mumbled. "I don't want to draft our soldiers." He wiped his palm across his face. Whatever this military tech was, he wasn't telling.

"We're going to have to call upon our numbers, to prepare for war." An older council member said gravely. Silence reigned around the table.

"I'll prepare the drafts." The Alpha sighed.

"I'll help you with the paperwork, Alpha Lucien." She addressed him by his name. His head snapped up. He met her gaze. His eyes were dark today. She licked her lower lip.

"I'd appreciate it, thank you." He nodded. "I think we shall move on to talking about our nearby enemies in Vaede…" he spoke. As they discussed the supposed nefarious plans of the city near us, Setia zoned out, keeping an ear out for any mention of military tech. So far it was all checking in with spies they had in the city, and below ground espionage.

"I think we've had a long enough meeting for today. We shall meet again in a few days to a week's time." He said. The men nodded and gathered their things, shuffling begun around the room as the men packed up to leave. Roy, the blonde man, came up behind her and whispered in her ear.

"Good to see you again, my flower." She shivered, not in a good way. Nodding, she moved away from him. She went to find the Alpha, who was still seated at the head of the table.

"I'm here to help, sir." She said, giving him a mock salute. The corners of his mouth quirked up.

"I prepared it all earlier, so its these stacks of papers here." He gestured to the mountainous stack of papers in the center of the table. "They all need to be dated and signed."

"Well, we better get to work." She said with a smile and sat down at the table near him.

The hours passed by quickly, with them both engrossed in their tasks. They'd formed a kind of assembly line, where she dated the papers before passing them to him to sign.

She talked to him a little about his life, and about the council. He chatted to her about the various members, introducing them to her and giving her a bit of background on them for the future. She took notes mentally as he spoke.

"Hey, we can probably stop —" Finally, after hours of hunching over papers, Lucien placed his hand on her bare arm. She froze, feeling sparks where his skin touched hers.

His eyes widened. He cut off, speaking. He inhaled deeply, his eyes flashed red. Oh no, he'd touched her. He could feel she was an Omega.
