BACHUÉ:
Seneschal Jean Mercier and I walked along the ramparts that overlooked the east coast. The sea whispered with its waves below us. We heard the seagulls sing above us. And Nadia, she was delighted to see the landscape beyond the walls. She walked behind us, lagging.
"Thank you for inviting us on this walk, Seneschal," I said to Jean Mercier.
"It's my pleasure," he replied, blushing.
"He desires you very much," I heard Queen Catherine.
I ignored her.
He looked out at the ocean.
"Vulka Huescar is in rebellion," he said, "I'm sure if she attacks us, it will be here. She will come with her ships from the south and up the east coast until she reaches the bay of the crabs."
"Seneschal, but I'm sure the walls will hold."
"Perhaps. But for how long?"
