Queen Midknight: The Wolf's Bride

Due to an ancient curse, anyone that wears the crown of Aradale becomes a cursed wolf. To live the rest of their lives separated from the other half of themselves. To be both human and a wolf but separated forever. In a world where werewolves are almost extinct, King Alexander of Aradale, must find a way to unite his wolf side with his human side. And at the same time stop his Queen from escaping or killing him. Will this wolf king achieve the impossible or will he die trying? This is a story of love, lost, curse and betrayal but most of all it is a wolf story like never before. Excerpt from the book. "Do you think Sir Judd and Queen Eileen are alright?" Jamie asked him. "Judd won't let anything happen to his wife. Western men are protective of their brides, Monisha" Alexander reassured her. "I know that but are they alright? Did I destroy two lives today, Alexander? I can't believe I did that to Eileen. I can't believe I trapped her with a man that doesn't feel anything for her" Talking about the marriage binding that took place that morning made Jamie sad. "Or maybe, you did them a favor. Maybe he will wake up to realize his imposed bride was the best thing that could ever happen to him. Maybe he will be willing to spend the rest of his life convincing his bride the same. Maybe it was meant to be" Alexander spoke in whispers to her. His voice was smooth and hopeful. But Jamie couldn't shake the feeling that he might be talking about himself not Judd. She decided to answer him. "What if his wife wants to feel the same for Judd but she can't. Because admitting she felt anything other than hatred and resentment for the man that stole her first life from her, might be too hard for her to imagine. Maybe she wants to relax in his arms every night and allow herself to feel something and she wants to feel it but she can't. Not without betraying everything she stands for. Not without knowing that everyone she left behind to start a new forced life was okay. Maybe she wants to feel it too but...maybe not. She has no choice in the matter" Alexander knew Jamie was talking about herself too. He felt the little happiness that always seemed to originate from the abdomen and slowly to the rest of the body. She wanted to feel! Alexander kissed her hair. It was the best news he has heard all day. "What if everyone she left behind was okay? What if they gave their blessings to our union?" Alexander was done trying to pretend they weren't talking about themselves. Jamie sat upright and turned to look at him. Her eyes glittering with unshed tears. "Don't you get it! My father would never give you his blessing! You are the reason he lost two of his daughters and you are the reason I lost my kingdom, my sister and my inheritance. Even if I wanted to feel something, I couldn't. Because that would be too painful, Alexander. Hating you is just easier" Jamie felt the tears run down her cheeks. Alexander sat upright. Using the back of his palm, he wiped the tears from her face. Then he kissed her lips. "I understand, Jamie" He whispered to her. Credit for the cover goes to its rightful owner. Chapter Fifteen: In the shadows

Chapter Fifteen: In the shadows

In the gloominess of the room, his face was so close to Jamie that she could smell the syrupy fragrance of his scent. She couldn't place the scent. It smelt foreign yet it was so pleasing to the nose.

Jamie wanted to taste it. Just to place a little kiss below his chin and run her tongue on the axis of his neck but instead she hears herself telling him to stop that she would have breakfast with his family without making a fuss.

Why did she say that? Jamie wanted to bite her tongue but the words just kept coming out. She concluded that what she was feeling was so alien to her that she wanted to stop it before she exploded completely.

"I will have breakfast with the rest of the depraved royal family, his highness. You may unchain me now" Her whole body screamed at her in defiance.

She expected him to pull away but she could see him face darken just a little bit and when he finally spoke, his voice was gruff.

"You will be the perfect symbol of a wife in love with her husband. You will play it so well that Lady Melvin will believe it, Won't you my sweet little dove?" Alexander held on to the little sanity he had left.

He had being with a lot of maidens. He had more mistresses in his lifetime than his mates. Women skilled in the art of love making and eliciting passion from him but somehow this inexperienced sassy little princess made everything new and enticing.

He watched the confusion on her face. He knew she was wondering why the opinion of Lady Melvin mattered to him. Princess Janessa of Namura had no idea that her new groom could read her like an open book.

"Why does the opinion of a mere relative matter to a king?" She asked him at last.

"It doesn't. I just don't want to hear Lady Melvin talk about how her daughter is the best match to be Queen over Western Hemisphere" Alexander grunted.

His body was still on top of Jamie but his hands held his body weight. The last thing King Alexander wants was to crush his new Queen.

"Is she pleasing to the eye?" Jamie had no idea, why the idea of another woman with Alexander almost made her shudder. She couldn't be jealous of another woman being with a man she so detested. It was impossible.

Alexander had no idea how to describe Eloise to his new bride and so he went with the easiest answer "She is not a troll if that is what you are asking"

"Somehow, your barbaric customs of marriage between distant relatives almost makes me queasy. Eastern Hemisphere has since stopped such nonsense"

Alexander raised his head and looked at her, biting down a smile.

"Did I detect a hint of jealousy in your voice, her majesty?"

"Wait! What! No! I am not going to dignify that question with an answer, his highness. I hate your guts, remember?"

"Be honest, Monisha. You are attracted to me just as I am to you"

"I would rather be attracted to a goat, Milord. They have better manners, they don't think or do wicked things to unwed princesses and mostly, they don't kidnap their bride" Jamie looked shocked as soon as she finished her statement.

Had she just compared the most powerful king in Derkal to a goat? Even the most patient man can lose their mind when compared to senseless creatures like goats. Was Alexander going to order for her execution? Jamie wanted to apologize but somehow the apology was stuck in her throat.

"Do you know I have killed for lesser crime?" Alexander roared at her.

"I think I should apologize for hurting your feelings Milord"

"You think? How about we skip the apology and go right to the punishment, Janessa?"

Before Jamie could object his tongue was in her mouth, again. In all truth, she had silently wished he would punish her that way but she had taken an unnecessary risk. He could have easily demanded her head be brought to him and that would have been the end of it but she was glad for the life she had now.

Jamie tried to touch his body but the chains on her hands prevented her. it prevented her from moving at all as the alien sensation swept through her almost leaving her limp and senseless without the relief of wriggling at least.

She might not had openly invited this sensation of a tongue but raising his head, Alexander merely wished to look at her face, expecting only to see the appearance of visual pleasure, he felt himself.

But he did not even catch a glimpse of her face, so instantaneous and insistent was his tongue that he barely had time for air. He especially liked it when he tried to take away his lips but she wouldn't let him.

My little tigress! Alexander plunged like some writhing sea monster into her gaping lips; it all but overwhelmed her senses as it sought some unreachable terminus near Jamie's core.

Alexander without removing his lips from his duty, unhooked one of Jamie's chain. He thought it was rather selfish of him to torture her further. Most importantly, he wanted to know whether she would push him away and put an end to the sensational and overwhelming feelings that swept through him. It wasn't really love-making, he had not yet gone beyond her mouth yet he had never felt so alive ever before.

"Do you want me to stop?" he asked in a croaky voice but all she did was moan.

"Your breakfast would get cold, his highness" Jamie's lips trembled a little.

"Let it"

His inexorable mouth was parting her shaking lips again, sending untamed tremors along her nerves, evoking from her sensations she had never known she was capable of feeling. And before a swimming dizziness spun her, turning her world completely upside down and it came too late to Jamie what she was about to shamelessly do. She was kissing him back.
