Ch 7 - Professor Oberton

"Umm, you made the geno solution?" From his tone one could feel his condescension.

"Yes." As if disregarding the possibility of this destitute looking young man accomplishing something that even elite scientists could not was something that many people could not comprehend.

Since when do you need a degree to be an inventor? A creator? A scientists? A warrior? Why do people feel like a man spending his whole life jumping down his ancestors rabbit hole is more reassuring?

I never was one for schooling. Apprenticeships make more sense. Taylor keeps trying to convince me to go to school. But, school creates workers, explorers discover the world. That is what I believe.

"Excuse me, Madame and sir. Please follow me." As the attendant led them through the grand hallways, Adonis truly could see that comparisons could make one die.

While most of the world were constantly at risk in the danger zones, many of the social elite were able to secure themselves in the government protected cities and leverage their financial power to create their own strong factions.

The office of consumer goods used to be the FDA. When the world changed it became a government backed elite organization.

"One second, please. I will check to see if professor Oberton is ready." As she walked into the room Donny was able to get a glimpse of the shelf. There were a multitude of vials on the shelf. We must move quickly. Looks like competition will get stiffer as time goes on.

"Please come in." The attendant reopened the door and let them in before disappearing down the hall. When they entered the room they could finally get a good look at Professor Oberton. Oberton was originally an elite agricultural science researcher. He was demoted when it was found he was only a geno warrior. Seeing little value in his abilities, they sent him to the western danger zones branch.

"From what I have been told you wish to register a geno solution. I assume in coming here you have a general understanding of the procedure, but if not I will explain. After filling out a 2 way NDA with the company, you will be able to bring or receive a beast to run monitored tests. Though if you bring a beast it will have to undergo a test run by the NDA for more in depth analysis." Donny already tried the solution on Peter and Peter was currently training at the manor so they would have to ask to receive a beast. The reason Donny wasn't willing to use Peter for the official test is due to the test they would have to run on him.

Oberton then handed the legal documents to Taylor to sign. She then handed them to Donny. Initially Oberton believed he was to be holding them for her, but he was soon confused and a little panicked after the kid began to sign the papers.

"Ahh, sorry let me get another set. These are for the researcher to sign."

"The researcher is signing it." Taylor said simply.

"How can he be the researcher? Is he even old enough to be on a research team."

"Yes." As Taylor confirmed she brought out her mobile device and showed him the roster of the Draco research group. Sure enough in the 10th spot, Adonis Draco.

"Are you sure? This procedure will be quite costly." Although Oberton didn't have much to complain about as he would get paid regardless, he understood the current state of affairs. The people who live in the Danger zones only survived off of exports. If you weren't strong enough to get materials and creatures or defeat creepers, you would have quite a difficult time.

"We understand." After filling out the documents and going over many rules, and tips Donny was led to a private lab room.

In the room, there was a monkey in a cage across the room. This monkey is a Malicious Kong. The Malicious Kongs are low level bipeds. The reason they got the name is because they are very devious and evil.

As Donny was observing the beast, it was also observing this strange human.

"Alright let's make this quick." From his experience with Peter, Donny could tell that the little black pucks are like Dog treats to beasts and are very desirable.

As Donny was waving the Puck the kong began to calm down and it's eyes followed the puck back and forth.

Donny grabbed the pet feeder and poured the whole vial into the bowl and placed the puck in the middle and placed it in the cage.

As soon as the bowl was in the cage the kong lost its manner as it ravaged the solution and the snack.

After eating it, it sat down in the cage simply looking at Donny for quite awhile.

"3,2, - 1"

'Aaaaarrrgggghhhhhh'

"Oh no what happened." Oberton was watching in a separate room with Taylor.

"Don't worry. The medicine is just kicking in, give it a moment." Oberton has alway been a decently composed man, but he couldn't help but feel as if these kids were over their heads.

Dark lines began to appear on the kongs body as its body began to grow and shrink at an alarming rate.

"Test 1, momentary increase in output begins." Donny sat the cage in front of a contraption called Dash. This contraption was built for ability users to demonstrate and record their speed.

"40 yard dash - Time: 3.3 seconds."

"Bench Press - Weight: 782 (lbs.) - 355(kg)

…..

"Oh my, is this real?" As the test results continued to come out Oberton couldn't contain his excitement. In order to help this duo, Oberton ordered for them to get a Kong beast as the test could be more extensive. It seems it wasn't necessary as every area seemed to be effective.

"An increase of 3 levels? Amazing! This is amazing. I must strike a deal." After the test results came out Donny returned to the room with Taylor and the Professor.

"How was that?"

"Incredible. Is this truly your creation?"

"Indeed."

"Good, good." He then snapped his fingers and the panel of scientists left the room to handle the official matters of the trial. "I own a small agricultural company here in the western front, I wonder if you would be interested in a collaboration?"

"Sure, but you will have to take that up with my research groups management." As Donny responded he nodded toward Taylor who was sitting with her legs and fingers crossed and grinning from ear to ear.

Oberton couldn't help but feel a trickle of sweat stream down his back.
