Chapter 6

"Hey Erica," said Ashley.

"What is it?" asked Erica.

"I feel like someone is following us," said Ashley.

"I feel like it too," said Erica.

"Do you have a feeling that the person who sent us the note is following us?" asked Ashley.

"I have no idea," said Erica.

"You normally have ideas," said Ashley.

"Not this time," said Erica,

Ashley locked her eyes on the note.

"You should figure the note out quickly, maybe it tells us something about who is following us," said Erica.

"I'm trying to figure it out," said Ashley, growing more worried.

"We are almost at the open area," said Erica.

"I think I have an idea about what this third message is," said Ashley.

"What is it?" asked Erica.

"This one is like the second one, it's a bit weird," said Ashley.

"Whatever it is, tell me," said Erica.

"It says 'wolfnight'" said Ashley.

Just as Ashley said it, there were two wolves standing in front of them.

"Um, Ashley?" said Erica.

"Yes...?" said Ashley.

"There are two wolves in front of us," Erica said, although her tone was calm, Ashley knew she was scared.

"Oh no," Ashley managed to squeak out with fear. "What should we do?"

"Don't run," said Erica.

"Okay, and do we just stay here forever?" asked Ashley.

"We should back away slowly," said Erica.

They started moving backward. The wolves began growling at them, showing their sharp teeth and snarling with deep pants.

"This is scary," said Ashley. "Maybe we should run."

"No, no, no," Erica whispered. "Stay calm or they'll attack."

Ashley didn't listen; she was too frightened and she started running back to her house.

The wolves began to chase them.

Erica screamed, "Don't look back, run as fast as you can!"

When they got closer to Ashley's house, she saw her dogs running to them.

"Erica, are the wolves still chasing us?" yelled Ashley in a terrified voice.

"I think so," hollered Erica.

The dogs ran past the girls. A dog fight ensued between two wolves and four dogs.

Still trembling the girls stopped and looked back at the canine fight. Growls and screeching could be heard. Ashley began to scream for her dogs to return home.

"Go home! Go home! Please go home!" she screamed as tears ran down her face.
