Chapter 11

"Seems like that stranger has gone onto the streets," said Erica.

"So, are you planning to go after that guy?" asked Ashley.

"Yes, there is nothing else we can do," said Erica.

"We could write another note," protested Ashley.

"No, I don't think that will be a good idea," said Erica.

"Also, my dad said not to go out," said Ashley.

"Your dad said we can't go into the woods, he didn't say we couldn't go on the streets," Erica said.

"Okay, fine," said Ashley.

"So let's go tell your dad that we are going to be leaving the house for a while," said Erica, giving Ashley a smile.

"Alright," said Ashley, going back into the house.

"Dad, me and Erica are going to go out on the streets for a while," said Ashley, stepping into the house.

"Okay, just make sure you don't go into the woods, and be careful," said Ashley's dad, then turned his attention to the TV.

"Let's go," said Erica, grabbing Ashley's hand and dragging her towards the street, where the footprints the stranger had left in the snow.

"Do you think this might be a little dangerous?" asked Erica.

Erica's words surprised Ashley. Erica wasn't someone who would say that.

"What do you mean?" asked Ashley, confused.

"I mean, we should be a little careful, after all this person is a stranger,?" asked Erica.

"But we already saw that person," said Ashley.

"It doesn't mean he is not a stranger," said Erica.

"Look what that is," said Ashley pointing to the snow.

Erica turned to where Ashley was pointing and saw something lying on the snow. Erica went closer to it and bent down to grab it.

"What is it?" asked Ashley.

Erica didn't respond, instead, she tucked the thing that she grabbed from the snow into the pocket of her white winter jacket. Ashley didn't have a chance to look at what it was, but she had a feeling it was something that dropped out of the stranger's cloth.

"Do you think it's something that dropped out of the stranger's cloth?" asked Ashley.

"It could be," replied Erica.

"What is that thing you picked up?" asked Ashley.

"It's an ID card and phone number," said Erica.
