Chapter 4: The Note

The professor had finished preparing everything for tonight’s event. His presentation was prepared on a thumb drive, but he still intended to bring his laptop and his notebooks that pertained directly to his presentation with him at the event.

He was still shaken up from the events of the day and did not fully trust the house sitter that he had never used before. His mind was still trying to puzzle out what had occurred and was trying to recollect anything that might help him to learn more about this secret society.

The Professor closed his eyes and was lost deep in thought when suddenly he heard a jarring noise that broke his concentration and pulled out of his mind back to reality.

*Ding-Dong*

(It’s the doorbell. That must be the house-sitter.)

The professor got up from his chair in the living room and went to answer the door. Checking through the peephole first to see who it was. He was very surprised by what he saw, but quickly opened the door.

In front of him stood quite honestly, the most gorgeous woman he had ever seen. She had long silky smooth aqua-marine blue hair that came down to her midriff. She had two red ribbons that streamed down each of her shoulder blades. Light olive colored skin and a classic hour-glass figure.

Her eyes were a mesmerizing lime green color that appeared to glow, and she had a radiant countenance that made her seem like she had a halo around her head. She appeared to be in her mid-twenties and smelled like baked apple pie with cinnamon.

“Hello, my name is Zenobi. I am your house-sitter for the evening. It is an honor to meet you,” she said with a sweet innocent sounding voice.

The professor was stunned into silence for a moment, not just because of her beauty but because somehow her entire demeanor put him at peace. His mind that had been racing earlier was at ease.

“Hmm... Yes, sorry, come in, please. I am professor Thelete. It nice to meet you too.” The professor said, trying his best not stare too hard or too long.

Zenobi entered into the entryway while the professor shut the door behind them. He then showed her to the kitchen area. “I know it was such short notice that you may not have a chance to eat before coming here, so please feel free to cook yourself something if you get hungry.”

“Thanks, that is sweet of you, but I will be fine,” she said warmly.

“This is the living room area. Down the hall and to the left is the bathroom. Across from it is my office. It is locked and you have no reason to go in there. At the end of the hall is the master bedroom. You may or may not need that, depending on how late I am out. If you need a place to sleep, please feel free to do so. Other than that, just watch the house until I get back and make yourself comfortable. Any questions?”

“No, it all seems pretty straightforward, but I do have something to give you,” she said with a smile.

She took out an envelope from under her left arm that she had pressed between her arm and her body and handed it to the professor. It had his name on it typed out, but nothing more.

“I found it on the windshield of your car on the driver’s side, underneath the wiper on my way up to your front door. It looked important, so I brought it up to the house with me.” This time there was something different in her voice, as if she was conflicted about giving the message.

“Thank you.” The Professor said and immediately opened up the envelope. As he was in the process of doing so, Zenobi turned around walked to sit down in a chair to make herself more comfortable.

***

Dear Professor Thelete,

You are not who you think you are. You have a much grander purpose than a mere professor. You have lost your memories of your true nature. I cannot tell you what the truth is. You must discover it for yourself.

You will have a long road ahead of you in order for you to reclaim your heritage, but with some guidance, you will be successful. You must complete your research professor and discover Atlantis. There, you will meet allies that will help you discover your true nature.

Myths are more real than you realize, and various gods exist with varying degrees of power and influence. Some can be trusted and other cannot be trusted. You must learn discernment.

Be wary of governments professor for they only care about expanding their power. The secret society that protects Atlantis is powerful and will take extreme measures to stop you or anyone else from discovering the truth.

The gods never left professor. Things are not always what they seem. Please listen to me professor, for our fates are intertwined and your failure is my failure and vice versa. Memorize any and all relevant information contained herein and then destroy this letter.

Sincerely,

Hypatia Valemiya

(What in the world am supposed to make of this letter? Something about a greater purpose and destiny, lost memories, gods existing, fates being intertwined?!!?! Not only that, but she knows all about the meeting tonight, the governments, the secret society...)

(And just who is the Hypatia Valemiya? And if gods really do exist as the author of this document is implying, it is quite a coincidence that the house-sitter is named after the Atlantean goddess of the North Wind... Could she actually be a goddess?!...)

“Professor? Are you alright? You look a little green around the gills,” Zenobi said, a bit concerned.

“I am just confused by what the note is telling me is all,” Professor Thelete said truthfully, but omitted the information that would make him sound completely crazy.

(Regardless of the truth or falsehood of this note, I need to leave for the proposal meeting. I will have to ponder this all out later.)

With that, professor Thelete started head to the door to get into his car. “Zenobi, could you please lock the door behind me after I leave?”

“Of course, Professor Thelete. Have a good night.”
