Chapter 22: Open Fire
“Stay the hell back! I’m warning all of you to stay the hell back!” One of the armed mercenaries said. But of course, none of the locals heeds his warnings because none of them understand what he is saying.
The angry mob of locals moves forward a little towards the convoy and tests their resolve.
“This isn’t good. There are too many of them and too few of us. If they keep encroaching forward, we will be out of options. This will get violent.” One mercenary said to the rest of the group.
“Does anyone here speak Arabic? I’d even settle for French.” Another mercenary said.
“I do not speak French fluently, but I can probably get the point across to them,” a third mercenary said.
“Here, hand me the bull horn so that he can use it to translate what I say to these civilians.”
The de facto leader of the bunch told them that they need to disperse and that they have permits to be here and that if they do not leave immediately that they will fire upon them.
