Familiar Building

My feet trembled as I entered the building.

"I set up a camera somewhere… to record her. But Kyung-mi found out. She couldn't find it but stopped me in any way to enter."

I felt uncomfortable, as if there were eyes on me.

"I know which area it was in… but not the exact location."

We searched, and searched.

Hye Su kept looking at her watch frequently.

I wondered whether the police could track us down.

We sat down for a while to take a break.

"I don't think we can ever make it." Hye Su buried her face in her hands.

I felt the same but didn't want to lower the already low expectations.

I remembered the words Hye Su had whispered to me. About how Kyung-mi had forced Hye Su to be her scapegoat. How the real culprit was not Hye Su but Kyung-mi.

In the end, Hye Su would be wrongly accused and sent to prison, then who knows what Kyung-mi would-

"Found you!" Kyung-mi's voice echoed and I jerked up.

Hye Su had started panicking and I had no idea what to do.

"Jung Hwa…" Hye Su quietly spoke up and I looked behind me.

She was handing me a gun.

A literal gun.

I took it, and aimed it in front of me- just for safety.

"About time!" Hye Su shouted.

She got up and stood right in front of Kyung-mi.

I stood there, trying to analyse the situation.

I bent down to pick up a tube-like thing.

A tear stick.

Choi Hye Su had a sinister look on her face.

Fake. It was all fake. I didn't know who to trust. I didn't even know what to do anymore.

I needed time. Time to think. But all I got was a loud gunshot.

I snapped into reality, looking at what had happened.

Hye Su crouched down, clutching her shoulder which was bleeding.

"Jung Hwa, use it!" She screamed in agony.

"Not so fast!" Kyung-mi aimed the gun at me immediately.

Impulsive and scared, I instinctively pulled back the trigger and shooted.

Kyung-mi fell to the ground, taking in as much air as possible.

"And this brings the end of a 5 year fight. Told you I would win."

She continued to talk about how she tricked me.

Kyung-mi was slowly slipping into unconsciousness.

I had just killed my friend.

I fell down, trembling.

I heard sirens blazing in the background, actually glad they were here.

There was another gunshot.

It was me. I had shot Choi Hye Su.

I had murdered the person I once blindly trusted.

I wished I hadn't done it. I wished that I could take it all back.
