Chapter 28: Evil Tea!

Chapter 28: Evil Tea!

The next morning when I woke up I thought the first thing I would get to see were a bunch of beautiful ladies by my side. Unfortunately that did not happen, not that I could blame them, but a man can dream can't they?

I got up, took a shower and got ready for a new day. When I stepped outside I saw two little girls playing around in the living room. This was Number 5 and 6 I think, they should be 12 and 6 I think. Number 6 walked over to me and said hello.

"Hi, are you our future husband?"

Number 5 reprimanded her and she was clearly embarrassed over her sister. She grabbed her by the ear and told her to be quiet, but it was obvious I had to step in.

"Aren't you just the cutest thing! As for the answer to your question Number 6. I would rather rip my eyes out and eat them."

I said sweetly and caringly like I was speaking to the gentlest thing in the world. It didn't seem to be very effective because she slowly began to cry and hug her sister. Even her sister looked at me like I was a monster.

What, would you rather me say yes? Gross.

I left them to their devices and hoped they wouldn't destroy anything. I went out back to the garden where I saw King Del speaking to my mother.

She looked my way and King Del did the same, "Ah, your highness. I was just speaking to your mother about what a fine young man you were."

Coming from you that sounds like an insult.

"All good things I hope."

I greet my mother with a light bow and she does the same. Even after all these years she's never been all that close to me, but she's like that for everyone.

"Have you seen Lord Father? I have some news to give him about the… What was the name of it? Rose Continent?"

Does she mean the Rosary Continent? The one grandfather wants me to take over?

"Rose Continent? I've never heard of it. I heard your father travels a lot. If that's the case it must be far past the borderlands."

I wanted to ask what the news could be so I just spoke up, "What happened?"

My mother looked at me briefly before figuring she was going to tell him anyways, "The high elves have declared themselves the supreme rulers of the elves. They have begun separating each type of elf across the continent. Leaving the lower elves as the sole guardians of Rose."

Hmm, interesting. Perhaps I could use this. I was going to ask her more but it was King Del who spoke up, "That's right, you were supposed to take lead in… 'convincing' a continent to submit to your whims, yes? Speaking of which, how is my grandson?"

My mother looked at the king with narrowed eyes then looked back at me.

"It wasn't him. I figured it out myself, you only confirmed it. Hahaha! Like mother like son, so easy to read. Are you sure you're an esper?"

My mother looked annoyed and reminded him of one thing, "Before I'm an esper, I am the acting queen regent."

King Del smiled mischievously without saying anything. He's surprisingly cocky despite being so desperate for help.

I tried stepping in before things got hairy and asked, "So have you rethought my offer?"

I waited for his answer until he opened his sleazy mouth again, "Are you sure you don't want a single daughter? Number 3 and 5 are around your age. Although I can't promise their purity, I know for a fact they aren't pregnant."

The two girls who heard that stood in shock and began whispering loud enough for me to hear, "How does he know that?"

"A flattering offer but my heart belongs only to one… wherever she is."

Here I am trying to flatter Alora and she isn't even around me. I'm such a great husband.

"She should be cooking breakfast right about now with Sir Makoto."

She's so diligent… wait what?

"Did you say she's cooking?"

My face was pale, this was one of my biggest fears. I wanted to treat our guests in a humble manner. Not like prisoners of war!

"Breakfast is ready!"

Well shit, and he still hasn't even given me an answer on our deal.

Alora and Sir Makoto walked in with trays of food. As soon as I saw them I was genuinely shocked.

"You can cook? Since when?"

She looked at me, still holding the trays of food but now she was just glaring at me menacingly. As cute as she looked, I didn't want her to drop anything so I just stayed silent.

I wonder if she got over last night?

"Wow, this looks really good!" Number 6 spoke. I didnt even even realize she was outside.

It's true, it did look good. It was refried steak with gravy and what looked like balls of mash potatoes that had been battered in crumbs and cheese then deep fried. Why is everything deep fried? What are we American?

I looked back at Sir Makoto wondering what the deal was, he came over to me and whispered in my ears, "She wanted steak and by the time I woke up she was already done. The gravy was the only thing keeping it from being dry."

That makes more sense. The only thing she can cook is steak and even that barely passes as edible.

I was going to thank him but he just pointed me in Alora's direction.

"Alora, thank you for the food. I know it was very hard to cook for so many people."

She looked at me in surprise, slightly weary. What the heck, I didn't say anything. I looked away awkwardly not knowing what to say when Sir Makoto looked back at me and just shrugged his shoulders before he started eating.

We didn't start praying or anything so we just began digging in while giving some idle chatter, sometimes talking about topics I didn't even know about. I just found out the U.D.E were formerly called the United Dream Environment. I think I have their Language skill in my shop, that could be helpful for when I see them in a few years.

Other than that I had learned that grandfather had recently captured a Dungeon and stolen its core. Apparently, a lot of people died to get that thing. I heard dungeons can't re-emerge once they've been defeated. I wonder what he would want with such a thing?

"My lady, would you like some tea? Your father says you need to keep up with your health."

She looked a little frightened but reluctantly accepted.

She wants to drink that now? I hate that stuff, I dipped my finger in it once on accident and it melted my finger off before the old man had to cut the rest of it off. It's a good thing too, otherwise I would have lost my whole hand or worse.

Sir Makoto brought a thermos and started pouring golden tea in her cup. I don't know how that thing doesn't destroy the cup or the thermos. All I know is that it can definitely kill a normal person.

I saw everyone at the table including King Del gasp in surprise with wide eyes.

"So pretty!" Number 6 spoke up, but everyone seemed to know exactly what this golden liquid was.

King Del looked on in curiosity while the rest looked just as curious.

"I'll try some as well. Its been a while since I've tried to kill myself. Hopefully this time it won't be successful." Sir Makoto chuckled a little but didn't really mind that he was telling everyone he was a transmigrator.

This was probably the first time I had ever seen Sir Makoto drink this tea. I genuinely didn't know what would happen. I was going to ask him if he was certain but he just waved me off. Every man has his pride I suppose.

Sir Makoto spoke up, "Oh yeah. I forgot to mention, this isn't nearly as diluted as the times you've drunk it. Are you sure you want it?"

My mother looked at it and just held the cup in her hands. I guess that's a yes.

Alora and I had just looked at them worried until they finally decided to drink at the same time. I saw them both gulp down both drinks at the same time until my mother smacked the table. She had only taken a single sip and she was already in pain. I held her by the shoulder and just touched her, yet I could just feel the energy flowing into me, and it did not feel good.

I rubbed her back while watching Sir Makoto drink the whole cup like he was doing shots.

Alora went over to him to do the same as I was doing but her hands were immediately burned. She stepped back in pain until I ran over to her side and used [REGENERATION LVL 4] on her. I got this a few years ago from Aunt Amelia, it's not a healing ability but it's close. All I can do is use status ailment abilities, so I might as well use them.

She was kneeling on the ground holding her arms until I grabbed her, I held her arm in my hands and I felt the same thing I felt from my mother. All I could do was hold her arm in my hands and whisper 'You'll be fine' over and over again. Despite being a demon species she's not good with pain. I guess that has something to do with their sadistic sides maybe?

She was trying to stop herself from crying while there was a group of strangers watching us.

After a few minutes she was completely healed up, but the mental wounds were severe. I picked her up princess style and brought her inside to lay down in my room. I watched her fall asleep and thought to myself, 'That's some serious stuff.'

I held her arm for a few minutes still trying to heal her but I was pretty sure she was already past injured. So I stood up reluctantly while giving her one last look and did the first thing my instincts told me too.

I grabbed my whistle, cast the Sleep skill and blew as hard as humanly possible. When I stepped outside I was left in utter shock.
