chapter Five- A Mother's Connection

"What's it Brandon?. I thought we were heading to the orphanage.

"This is the orphanage Jacob, this is the place I grew up, the place where I learnt how to walk, how to talk, and this the place where I met rosa" In as much as Jacob wanted to console him, he held himself immediately he heard that witch's name. He doesn't want to console him if he's crying because of that girl.

"Wait, I don't get it. If this is the orphanage, then where's the building?, or is it at the back of the crumpled one?" He got no reply from Brandon, because he was lost staring at the demolished building in front of him.

His feelings were all over the place, as he tried to digest everything. All his childhood memories were all made in this building, It felt like a big part of him was demolished along with it.

And all the hopes of finding his parents demolished along with it. He cleaned his tears but his eyes had turned red. His heart felt heavy as his eyes kept scanning the whole place. He really thought he could actually find some clue that will lead him to his parents today, but all that hope has been crushed down by the sight in front of him.

Maybe he's a little bit late. With what is remaining of the orphanage, he doesn't think he'd ever find his parents. Finally accepting his fate, he raised his head and stared at Jacob before answering his question.

"This is the orphanage, I just don't understand how it got demolished. Like, this building was standing strong a year ago when I came here. Though I was watching from a distance, everything looked fine. So what went wrong?.

"Maybe the land has been acquired by the government?. I'm not sure, I'm just saying.

"If the government actually bought this land, there'd be a sign to prove it, but look around. Not even a poster.

"Well....

The roaring of engines and the screeching of tires cut his statement short.

"Maybe they're here to put the sign, come on, let's get out of here" Jacob tried pushing Brandon out of the area but Brandon held back as he stared at the dozens of cars like he knew who owned them.

"Wait a minute Jacob, let's hide somewhere and see if we can get any clue. Maybe they had a hand in this mess.

"Even if they do, what do you want to do about it?. Just look at their cars, a Lamborghini and two military cars that cost fortunes. They'd crush you without moving a finger.

"Shut up and let's find somewhere to hide before they get here. I really want to know what happened to this place.

They hid behind the only standing wall of the orphanage, awaiting whoever is going to alight from the car. Immediately men in uniforms came out from the first military car and formed into a protective wall around a particular lady, who alighted from the Lamborghini. They already understood that they're body guards but some older men stepped out from the second military car as well.

"The area is clear, my lady," one of the guards announced. He seems to be the captain of the guards, since his uniform is different from the others.

The woman scanned the area with her hard gaze. The older men gesture for her to move closer which she did without uttering a word.

"Just as we told you, my lady. This place has been demolished. We tried our best to know who did it or why they did, but this person seemed to know our every move" One of the older men said. Sweat gathered around his forehead and his Adam apple moved up and down. One can tell he's scared, and he's not the only one.

All the older men had the same frightening expression on their faces. Some were visibly shaking. They're all dark skinned with black hair. Some of the hairs are already answering calls from nature.

The woman remained quiet as her eyes continued scanning the whole area as if looking for something or someone. Her eyes landed on the wall Brandon and Jacob are hiding. She stared at the wall with so much intensity that Brandon started shaking and regretting why he didn't listen to Jacob and get the hell out of here.

What if these people get them and kill them?!. Nobody would even notice if they go missing or dead. And that will be their end. He looked up and offered a silent prayer, hoping God would have mercy on him for the first time so he can escape this situation.

"Whoever you're, come out now or I'd send my guards to come get you. And trust me, it won't be a friendly escort" Her cold voice echoed all over the place. The voice already made them understand the seriousness it held.

Jacob was the first to come out, already on his knees begging for his life, but Brandon stayed hidden. His stomach tightened at the thought of coming out.

"Where's your friend?" Her voice held inpatient in them and more coldness that Brandon didn't know when he wheeled himself out with his body and clothes already drenched with his sweat.

"We're so sorry for trespassing, we just came here to collect some information. We didn't know that the place had already been sold. We're so sorry" Jacob cried out. If not for the situation they're in, Brandon would've loved to record this and use it to taunt him for the rest of his life.

"What information?" The captain of the guards inquired, staring at them suspiciously.

"The information is about me. I used to live here at the orphanage. I just felt the need to know what family I came from and why they dropped me here, I just wanted to collect my data" Brandon was too scared to even raise his head up. He was visibly trembling.

Hearing his voice melted Stella's heart, giving her the warmth she hasn't felt in years. She felt a connection drawing her closer to him. And seeing the condition he's in broke her heart.

She moved closer to him and lifted the young man's head up and came face to face with silver's lookalike. It was like staring at a mirror, but only, manlier. And when she fixed her eyes on his ear, the birthmark under his ear gave her all the confirmation she needed.

What great men couldn't achieve in twenty four years, she achieved it in two hours.

She had found her SON.
