8. The Man with the Powerhart: My Name is Doren!

Doren was surrounded, guards all around him. In front of him, Captain Waterloo, swords drawn and ready. For what seemed like forever, the men just stood there.

"Have you decided to surrender? You really don't have a choice in the matter." the Captain asked once again, this time a sense of irritation in his voice.

Doren loosened the grip on his knife and stood straight up. He looked down, and with a calm voice, he said, "If I begin surrendering now, then how am I going to be one of the strongest men in the world?" he gripped the knife again.

While he was only one of the siblings to not train with their powers, he was always more to focus on his hand to hand combat. However it was always with his older brothers and his sister's. Never against someone serious.

Now he had his first power. And he's already used it multiple times. Hopefully, he can integrate some of his powers into his combat.

Meko and Katrina were still behind the circle of guards who surrounded Doren. "What the hell is this crazy kid doing?" Meko muttered.

Katrine was awestruck. This kid was going to take out the entire force of the Mertin guards. He couldn't even take her on, so what was he going to try and accomplish with trained personnel.

Waterloo's hands then began to glow blue. He lowered both blades, angled towards the ground. Water had come out of the tops of his hands and wrapped around the swords. "Apprehend the criminal, men!" he shouted waving the blade to Doren. As it cut the air, a wave of water followed.

In his mind, he thought, 'Here we go, don't fail me powers.' He jumped up, pushing the air with his hand to boost up further. The wave dispersed shortly after Doren jumped above it.

While in the air, his legs began to glow, and he kicked the air, sending strong gusts of air to two of the guards. The guards flew away from the circle. He landed softly on the ground.

As his feet touched the grass below him, a Shockstaff came working towards the side of his head. Doren crouched down, kicking the guard's feet out from under him. Falling back, Doren stood and shaved his elbow into the guards chest. the guard crashed into the ground, leaving behind a crater.

As the dust settles around them, three guards were seen on the ground and out of the fight. Doren twirled the knife around on his fingers, staring at the guards remaining. A quick count - thirteen. Including Waterloo.

The water stalled around the blade but was still there. Waterloo gripped his swords as tight as he could, his veins popping out of his hands. "Damn it! Apprehend him!" he growled as four more ran at him.

When one went to go tackle him, Doren hopped into the air. Moving his body forward, he spun in the air and landed the heel of his foot to the back of another guards head. The guard trying to tackle him skidded against the grass but got back up.

Twelve.

A swing came towards Doren from behind. He lunged forward out of the way, and using his power, cut the air with his knife. A gust of air sliced through the guards armor. The guard fell to his knees and fell to the ground.

Eleven. But.. unintentionally..did he just kill another man? Doren's eyes widened and he began to pay no mind to the other guards rushing him.

"He stopped!" Meko gasped and began to run to help him.

Being held back by Katrina, she explained, "No! He did this when he killed the boss earlier. He'll snap out of it, just leave him be!" Yelling, she gripped harder to Meko's arm.

Two more guards finally were able to grab ahold of Doren. Each guard having an arm. The knife in his hand fell into the dirt. But Doren was still paralyzed by what just happened. He didn't mean to kill this poor guard. He just wanted his new friends to get away. New friends who still haven't gotten the hint?

Doren turned his head to Meko and Katrina. "I figured you would've gotten out of here by now! Leave them to me, I caused all this commotion!" he yelled.

With his right arm being his stronger arm, he lifted the guard holding him and slammed him head first into the ground. Nearly dislocating his shoulder in the process, he growled from how much strain that just put on his arm. Looking the guard who had his left arm dead in the eye, Doren pulled him closer and head butted the guard right in bridge of the nose.

Stumbling back, the guards nose busted blood. Broken teeth and his eyes rolled in the back of his head, he began falling to the ground. Before he got too far, Doren kicked the guard using the air. The guard flew into one of the houses surrounding the area.

With the guard's blood running down Doren's face, he looked at the Captain. His blue eyes piercing into Waterloo's like an eagle finding it's prey.

Nine guards left fighting.

Instead of a Shockstaff, two guards rushed with spears in their hands. One had swung for his legs, but he jumped above it. While he had been jumping, the other guard swung his spear towards him. Doren lifted an arm and blocked it, but was thrown back to the ground. Sliding across the grass, Doren pushed his foot towards the two guards.

Leaving a crater behind his toes, he gripped one of the guards by the throat and threw him down. Doren brought his arm back and punched the guard in the left cheek. He then put a foot under the guards spear and kicked it up. After he caught it he aimed the end towards the eight remaining guards.

Begining to feel the strain, Doren began to huff out of exhaustion. He had only taken five out. Eight still remained. It felt like he had been moving for hours, when he had only been fighting for a minute or two. How many more could he take on before he collapsed.

All the training his father put him through. All those years toughening his skin up and boosting his stamina. He focused and grew irritated. All that training, for nothing.

In a fit of rage, he yelled, "My name is Doren Sin Mercer! I was born with the Powerhart! I will be the strongest warrior this country has ever seen! I won't be stopped by you!" As he yelled, the wind began picking up. Dark clouds had started rolling into the area. The trees started shaking and the houses started to rock.
