Chapter 19

The next morning, Robert climbed out of bed, dressed and went out

to check up on everybody. He found Spar in his laboratory. There were

schematics and drawings all over the wall. Robert asked what the

drawings were for and Spar told him that his ascendant, Naber, had

made the drawings of the spacecraft they used. Spar pointed to a

drawing and said:

"This is the source of power. Its liquid hydrogen that flows through

the glass tubing and at one point, meets a special device which draws

power for the craft. Right now, I'm working on a new form of light."

"What do you call it?"

"I haven't named it yet."

"From what I see, why don't you call it a battery." "Yes, that

sounds good enough."

"Would you like me to help, I'm already familiar with this

technology."

"Sure. Can you tell me why I can't get a spark from the top of

this container? Robert took a closer look and said:

"It's simple. Just connect a wire to the top and the bottom. Cross

these two wires and you will have your spark. If you like, I'll

teachY9U how to make a light bulb and then you can connect it to your

battery and you will have artificial light."

"Yes, it would be a splendid project. It's going to be an honor

having you around."

Robert went back out into the courtyard and saw Kathy near the jet. He went over to her and she asked him to help her unpack the supplies. Robert opened all the compartments and they began carrying all of their clothes and supplies to their room. When they were through, Kathy began folding the clothes while Robert decided to go and see Supreme. He found him in

the foundry. Supreme was trying to deduce how so much technology could exist in such a time. Robert asked Supreme if he had

come up with any information about their present location. Supreme answered: "The location seems safe from all outsiders. Here in the village, everything is as it seems. I am very impressed with the advances these people have made. I'm still trying to deduct why it took centuries for man to acquire these

advances."

"Well, you know how I like to cover my tracks."

It was now time for lunch and Lynn called out for everyone.

At lunch, Robert asked Spar where he got his power. Spar replied:

"I'm not supposed to give details, but I will say that it was inside a

mountain."

"I knew it! We both received our power from the same source. "You mean you've been there too?"

"Yes. Did you see the room of flowers and the pool of

diamonds?"

"Yes. You were there, and it still exists in your world." "Some

things never end."

Two days passed and it was now time for the daily bath.

Everyone was in their usual spots and they were all talking

about the events of the day when Spar confronted Robert about

his decision concerning Della and Shan. Robert looked at Kathy for her assurance and then said; "I and Kathy have decided that this is where we would like to make our home for the rest of our lives. I have decided that it is probably a waste of time to return to the future in search of grooms so now I am going to ask Kathy, Della and Shan to marry me." Robert looked at Kathy and she smiled and said: "I love you." Robert made his way in front of Della and Shan and said: "It's only love once in seven days, but I will give you many children and will try to be as much of a husband as you could ever have. will you marry me Shan?"

"Yes." Shan moved toward him and gave him a kiss and a

hug with their bodies touching for the first time. Robert turned to

Della and said: "I didn't mean to leave you for last, but

I must know. Will you marry me?"

"Yes. Me and Shan already love you. We feel in love with you the

first time we saw you. Of course I will marry you." She gave Robert a

very compassionate kiss as Spar and Lynn continued to look on with

admiration. Robert turned to Spar and asked: Will you do the honor of

marrying the four of us?"

"Tomorrow after supper."

The next day, Della and Shan followed Robert wherever

he went, teasing him and catching him alone for a little kissing and touching. Robert found Supreme and asked him what he thought of all of this. Supreme said he had complete confidence in Robert. Supreme was also wondering what the result would be

if a child were born to a father who had the power of the mind,

and a mother who was the daughter of a man with the power of

the mind. Robert said he was sure they would find out.

It was now time for the wedding and Robert was wondering which

one he was going to sleep with first. He was only nineteen years old

and he had three women waiting on him.

Robert was dressed in his best clothes and Kathy, .Della and Shan

were all wearing beautiful white robes.

Spar stood before them with Lynn at his side and said:

?I stand here before you as a witness to marriage. In the walls of this village of Carmel, I now pronounce the intentions

of the brides and the groom. They are here before us as witnesses of my testimony. They are here to be married. Therefore, I

now pronounce you all to be married and may no one break you apart."~Robert kissed Kathy first and then Shan and Della.

Spar yelled out something in his own language and he and Lynn went to hug all of them. When the congratulations were finished, Robert wanted to go for a walk and he asked all of his brides

to accompany him. They walked out into the desert and climbed

a hill to watch the sunset. Robert sat down on the top of the hill and Kathy sat beside him leaning on his shoulder. Shan

sat on his other side and Della walked behind him and put her arms around his neck. They said nothing. There was nothing

to say. They were in love and Robert would never have to say

who he loved the most. They would give him that much freedom

and more.

Shan and Della decided that Robert should spend his first night

with his first love, and the following night, Robert

slept with Della. Of course, she was a virgin and didn't know what to

expect. Robert guided her through the entire process and when they

were through, she begged for more. Robert tried to give her all he

could. He was enjoying himself almost as much as with Kathy. The next

night, Shan was the same and from then on, the both of them seemed to

smile a little more often.

Robert got involved with Spars projects. He wanted to

know more about the spacecraft they flew. If they weren't built by Spar or his ascendant, Robert wondered who could have built them. Robert could not figure out this puzzle, but he did learn to understand the operation of the engine. He wondered why

this technology was not included in his own knowledge. He finally decided to take the jet and search the globe for further clues. He went alone, leaving Supreme to guard Carmel. His frequency would reach around the globe.

Robert began his search in places suitable for protection, like Carmel. Desolate and out of reach places. Robert searched throughout the world for several days and came up with nothing. He decided to return to the mountain of Bustamante.

Robert flew the jet to the peak of the mountain and landed.

He took the emergency flashlight and entered the cave. After a tedious descent, he finally reached the room of flowers. He wasn't surprised to find it as it was in the future. The room of dreams was open and he went in to see the very same pool of diamonds. He reached down and took another drink and as he expected, there was no effect. Robert remembered the

sealed door and began searching this room for a hidden passage.

After searching for several minutes, he found a circular crack

in the wall and gave the center a push. It wouldn't budge.

Robert laid down and pressed his hands against the opposite

wall and kicked within the crack. This time, it did move and

Robert pushed it all the way in and entered a new room. There

was a skeleton of a man on the floor and a place where a pool

of water might have been, but it was bone dry. The skeleton

was covered with refined leather. This was an indication that

he was not primitive. Robert guessed that this man had brought

someone else to this room and then died as he passed his secret

on. The other man may have taken all the liquid in the pool

and carried it away. Where that man was now, or whether he was

still alive was just another puzzle to Robert. Robert also

guessed that the missing liquid might have given an even greater

power of the mind. Robert could always go a dimension further

and investigate this situation in greater detail but there

would be a risk and Robert had no use for greater powers. He

was content at his home at Carmel. He had everything a man l could ever want and more. Robert left the cave and began his

journey home. Everyone was happy to see him. To them, it was

as if he had been gone for a very long time.
