Chapter 38

Staring at the boy who had been repeatedly cutting her off, Professor Uriel observed him before shaking her head. Since he's the one who asked for it and actually made her job easier, she could only go only with his whims. "Since you have been so brave as to volunteer, I will allow you to battle first and last so that you will have more than enough time to rest in between." With her final words, Professor Uriel stormed off the stage.

Walking towards Jax, Ally grabbed the hem of his shirt, still too afraid to initiate physical contact first. "W-will you be okay? I know your and Vioarr are strong but f-fighting so many battles will be c-challenging for anyone."

"Mhm, don't worry about it. Also, what I said earlier, I'll have to retract my statement. I won't be dedicating my next win for you. No, I've decided to dedicate my next two battles for you!" Blushing, Ally thought Jax was just being his usual, joking self not knowing that Jax said that with upmost confidence in himself and his partner.

Since Jax was called out by the professor to battle first, he made his way onto the familiar battlegrounds only to see that his opponent was already waiting there for him. Looking at the student who got there before he did, Jax saw that it was a girl who was still too young to be considered a bombshell but beginning to show her flavors in other ways. While most girls his age were still dressing in whatever their parents chose, this girl went a step further and even had on makeup!

"Hey, handsome. I really like your boldness earlier. I'm Erika Huffington. All my girlfriends call me Eri though. I'll let you do the same if you beat me in this match." Wiking towards Jax, the girl who introduced herself as Erika or Eri gave off major h*e vibes. 'So young and already so feisty. I pray for her future husband. Thankfully, that won't be me.'

"Mhm. I'm Jax. Just Jax. Although I'll beat you, I don't need the honors of calling you Air." Purposely saying her nickname wrong, Jax then summoned out Vioarr. "I'm ready, Ref!"

The looked nodded and then looked towards Erika, "ARGH! You're going to regret that! Start the battle!" Summoning out her starter pokemon, Jax noticed that it was a cute little Buneary. Although uncommon around the bordering areas of Arklight City, it wasn't too strong as a competitive pokemon from what Jax could remember.

"Ready, set, BATTLE!"

With the start of the match being officially declared, Jax told Vioarr to go with Triangle 1. So far, none of the trainers have made Jax want to change his full-on frontal approach yet. Maybe one of the seeded trainers will be worth his while. Jax was both elated and sad thinking about possibly matching up with Ally in an upcoming battle all while Vioarr was busy practicing his new moves on the poor, brown bunny.

Not even 5 minutes later, Buneary fell down with circles around her eyes, clearly knocked out. "Mhm. Thanks for the win, Air. Bye, Air." Purposely saying her name wrong twice in a row, Jax walked off the stage in a relaxed manner leaving Erika to stare daggers into his back as she recalled Buneary.

Since the match was so boring and he didn't use any effort or energy to deal with his latest opponent, Jax walked off to go find Professor Uriel. Upon finding her where the rest of the staff was, Jax bowed slightly before the teachers before stating, "I'm not tired. I want to fight my next opponent if they're ready." Listening to the audacity of the boy who came to change the whole tournament roster just because he 'was not tired' caused the teacher to slightly frown. Before they could retort, Professor Uriel raised her hand to silence all of them. Taking a peek at what made the boy in front of her so confident, she received a voice transmission from one of her earbuds.

"Let the boy battle. I have high expectations for him."

Hearing the familiar, gruff voice of her headmaster, Professor Uriel could only comply. "Fine, since you say you're not tired and you did have to volunteer for an extra battle because of our mistake in making the roster, I will go along with your wish this one time." Trying to save face, Professor Uriel made it out to seem like she was being magnanimous when really she was ordered from someone who far outranked her.

"Go to your designated battlefield, I'll tell your opponent to meet you there."10 minutes later, another girl stood across from Jax although this one had a more refreshing air to her than the last one did. With the standard school uniform, straight, back hair and feline-like eyes, she reminded Jax very much so of a certain race back on Earth.

"HIII! I'M AINA! I ALREADY KNOW YOUR NAME! IT'S JAX! HI, JAX! I HOPE YOU TAKE IT EASY ON ME LATER!"

The girl was way too loud and energetic for Jax to deal with so early in the morning. Not only did she talk super-fast, her voice as also very high pitched so it just sounded like screeching to anyone's ears. Knowing she meant well, Jax could only shake his head and reply in kind towards to friendly girl.

After their introduction and letting the referee know their battle status, both trainers summoned their pokemons itching for battle. While Jax summoned out Vioarr, the girl summoned out…oh? Another Nidorino? No wait, this one was light blue, so, Nidorina. Surprised at seeing his own species, Vioarr froze up staring at the first pokemon of his species he has ever seen who wasn't related to him.

"Vioarr, snap out of it! She can 'defeat' you after this battle! I already promised Ally I was going to win the next two for her!" Snapping out of his thoughts, Vioarr reorganized himself before preparing to use the same combination he had been using all day. Just as Vioarr was about to cast his Protect plus Endure combo, Nidorina was already upon him!
