Pokemon: Back Into The Light

Six years. For six years I have worked on keeping the world safe from the shadows. Many left, having something to return to. Many died in the line of duty but I was lucky enough to survive. Each battle made me a little stronger, a little more smarter, and a little more deadlier. But now that I'm back in the light, I don't know what to do anymore. __ I don't own pokemon or the picture. I only own the OC's.

Chapter Eleven

Five days...

It's been five days since I reached Oreburgh City, and I have only spent one night there.

Garchomp lay next to me, listening to me hum a tune that did not exist in the world. I had forgotten the lyrics and name, but the tune was nice.

We were watching Shinx fight Iron Valiant. The black fur on its face was more prominent. What I was doing was basically Breaking him down and building him back up with the help of Chancey's Gravity and Healpulse.

Developing his body at an increased pace so that he could keep more Aura in him. Even now, Shinx was developing at an alarming rate. Normally, the evolution would take two months, but Iron Valiant estimated two to three days before I had a Luxio on the team.

I chuckled a little and leaned back into Garchomp, getting very comfortable on Garchomp's rough scales.

My phone buzzed and I blinked, Garchomp looked over at me and even he blinked.

I got a message.

I reached into my pocket and checked and almost, almost gasped, my training was just enough to suppress the reaction.

[Happy Birthday.]

What?

Garchomp looked at the phone and then at me with a bewildered expression.

"Gar?"

I rolled my eyes.

"I don't celebrate it anymore..."

He just huffed and nudged my shoulder. Pushing his snout away with a frown directed at the phone I looked at the sender. A smirk crept on my face as I opened the message, marking it as read.

A second later my phone buzzed again as another message was received by the same sender.

[Adam?]

___

"Another meeting done..."

I mumbled as I sighed and slumped into my chair, rubbing my forehead. Being a champion wasn't all it was cracked out to be. Moving a strand of hair behind my ear, I looked up at the ceiling for a moment, mulling over the situation.

Flint said he would talk to Volkner, who had been slacking lately as a gym trainer. Something about being interested in technology.

My phone's ring tone sounded and I looked at it, a reminder. I sighed, It had been years... but I still had a reminder every year.

Turning off the alarm, I went into the messages. I hoped he still had the same number. Looking at all of the unseen messages before this one I sighed and wrote out the two words I hoped would be seen every year.

Sending the message I stared at it, knowing that it would not be seen but still hoping. My Garchomp came out of her Pokeball without me calling her out and I looked over at her, smiling slightly. She missed him too, I knew, he was the only one we lost to and Dragon types loved a challenge.

Patting her rough scales I heard a noise, a noise of a message being seen. My eyes widened as I looked down at my phone, seeing the "Happy Birthday" message being read.

My fingers ran over the letters on the screen quickly, thoughts of someone else buying his number ran through my mind since it had been inactive for so long, but I sent the next message regardless.

It was just his name, with a question mark, but it was read immediately. I waited as the three dots appeared from the other end of the screen.

[Thanks Cynthia.]

I inhaled, it was him, nobody knew my personal number, Other than a select few people.

"Gar-Chomp!"

I didn't even look as Garchomp pointed at the Video call button with one of her claws and pressed it quickly.

I waited, watching the gray screen as it was calling, then ringing, and finally, he answered.

I saw him, or more correctly, what came of him. His red eyes were still intimidating, his hair was tied back and he looked older, naturally.

"Adam..."

I heard myself mumble as I stood up using my right hand to lean myself on the table for a moment.

He looked at me for a moment and smiled, it was small, sad, melancholic, but it was there.

[Hello Cynthia...]

-Adam POV-

Finally, the call ended, and I was officially forbidden from moving from the spot by the Regions champion.

I chuckled, leaning my head back on Garchomp's body as I sighed.

"Gar-Gar, Garchomp."

I patted him on the neck for a moment.

"Yes, her Garchomp is powerful, and once she is done chewing me out you two can talk."

He huffed and looked away. I raised an eyebrow for a moment, usually, he never asked for any strong Pokemon in my past, even if he had seen them on TV or from afar. He never asked to meet or battle... them...

"Oh my god, you have a crush..."

I grinned as I leaned forward, only for Garchomp to adjust his head to prevent me from seeing his face.

I grinned as I waited for a livid champion to reach my location.
