Chapter 175 - Fighting Homunculus

Suddenly the Kakugane expanded outwards as a dark purple light began coming from the Kakugane.

"How is this possible?" Itsuki had no idea what was going on. It was difficult to explain what Itsuki was currently experiencing. It was like the Kakugane had reacted with his Aura.

When the dark Purple light surrounding Itsuki disappeared, the Kakugane was nowhere to be seen. Instead, Itsuki was holding a purple color Katana.

Itsuki might not know it but for some reason, Aura users and Pokemon cannot use Kakugane. Only humans and Homunculus can use Kakugane. One of the reasons why Homunculus were able to keep their existence is because other than Kakugane, nothing else can directly harm a Homunculus. Even if Homunculus were harmed by a non-alchemic attack the homunculus can regenerate at super speed. However, the regeneration is slow when attacked by a Kakugane or a Homunculus. Of course, in recent times some advanced weapons have been made by some secret organization that can even harm a Homunculus.

"How can you use a Kakugane? This is against the law? An Aura user cannot use Kakugane." For a moment Kinjo wondered if Itsuki was really a Homunculus. No Aura user in history has managed to use a Kakugane.

"I am not sure. But I felt like this Kakugane was calling to him." Itsuki looked at the dark purple color Katana in his hand. Just looking at this weapon, Itsuki knew that this katana was the strongest weapon. It was even stronger, more durable, and sharper than the sword that he made after 14 days of hard work.

After a moment Kinjo recovered his calm. This was not the first time he was fighting an Aura user or a Kakugane holder.

"The superhuman power of a Homunculus! And the power of a Buso Renkin surpasses modern science! Do you think your Buso Renkin alone can beat my combined alchemical powers?!" Kinjo took out another Kakugane from his pocket. Kakugane that Kinjo was holding had number LII (52).

"Let me show the real power of Kakugane. Buso Renkin." With his words, the Kakugane was activated and took the form of a large mechanical moss green and grey gauntlet on his right arm with armor that extends to his upper arm. It is also fitted with rockets on the lower arm complete with small rocket wings.

"Since this is your first time let me tell you more about the Kakugane. Responding to the user's fighting spirit a Kakugane disassembles and reassembles into a unique shape based on the user's personality and fighting style. This means that they can only be used by humans or human-type Homunculi, since only humans have the instinct to use tools to defend themselves. Buso Renkin commonly takes the form of metallic weaponry such as a lance, battle-ax, or death scythe but it is also possible for the Kakugane to form more unusual items such as a submarine, an underground passageway, or even a sentient mechanized doll."

"The form a Buso Renkin can take is completely unique depending on the user as no two Buso Renkin are the same, even the same Buso Renkin formed using a Kakugane with a different serial number has some cosmetic differences which is often known as an Alternate Type. A Buso Renkin will not activate if the user is exhausted, heavily injured, or otherwise unable to fight as it dampens their fighting spirit which fuels the Buso Renkin. But I don't know what will happen in your case since you're an Aura user. And Normally Aura users have more stamina than normal people."

"Sharing the same origin as the Kakugane, the Buso Renkin was the result of weaponry development within the Alchemist Army and as a counter to the monstrous Homunculi. Like the Homunculi however they proved to be too dangerous and were kept secret from the public."

"I can give you chance. Never in history, there has been an Aura user who has managed to activate a Kakugane. Come with me and let Doctor Butterfly run some tests on you. Maybe you're the key that will finally allow Homunculi to use Aura." From Kinjo's words, Itsuki learned many things. One thing was clear Homunculus cannot use Aura. While Aura users cannot use Kakugane.

"There is no way, I will become someone's lab rat."

Kinjo for a moment looked disappointed. "In that case, I will just have to drag you with me. You're the key that will finally allow Homunculus to evolve. We will become a third type race, a race that even surpasses Pokemon and we will rule this world." With a crazy smile, Kinjo clenched his right robotic fist and then punched Itsuki.

Itsuki widened his eyes seeing Kinjo's robotic arm grow large in size. 'Is this the unique ability of his Buso Renkin?'

Isaac quickly jumped away seeing the robotic arm which now had increased its size to 5 meters.

Boom!

"What a power." Isaac was again impressed seeing how easily the punch crushed the trunk of a tree.

"You know the one big difference between you and me. You're inexperienced while I have been training with his Kakugane for centuries." Kinjo propelled his fist forwards using the rockets on his gauntlet while increasing the size of his fist to strike Itsuki.

"Not good" Itsuki was not expecting this. He quickly formed an Aura barrier around him.

Boom!

The giant robotic fist hit the blue barrier in front of Itsuki. Even though Itsuki managed to stop this attack, he noticed that the barrier he had created already had cracked and looked like the barrier would shatter like glass at any given second.

While the dust was settling down, Itsuki sensed Kinjo's Dark Aura above him.

"Laputa Falls!"

Kinjo had greatly increased the size of his right hand to crush his opponent Itsuki into the ground with his palm from above. Seeing the attack, Itsuki finally decided to stop holding back. Itsuki quickly circulated Aura.

Boom!

For a second the earth around the attack trembled from the impact. However, Kinjo was not happy since Itsuki had managed to get away at the last moment.

"This is why fighting with Aura users is so annoying." Just as Kinjo was about to retract his hand to its original size, suddenly five 1-meter big blades penetrated his back.

Ahh!

The next second, Itsuki sent another Aura Blade hoping to cut his right arm but the Kakugane protected Kinjo's right arm. Having no choice, Itsuki quickly appeared and sent Kinjo flying with a kick on his head.

Bang!

Kinjo back hit the trunk of a tree causing the 1-meter thick trunk to break. However, just like Kinjo told Itsuki since the attack was non-alchemic, he regeneration super fast. It took him no less than a few seconds to heal his wounds.

Kinjo showed no expression of pain. It looked like the attacks didn't give him any pain. "I will have end this game soon."

"Let's try something new." Holding the Katana with his two palms, Isaac began to put his Aura into the Katana, causing dark blue energy that was invisible to Kinjo's eyes to wrap around the Katana. Itsuki then raised his arms above his head and then vertically swung the Katana releasing a dark blue ray of energy towards Kinjo's direction.

Just when the attack was released, Kinjo was able to see it coming. For some reason, this attack gave him a bone-chilling feeling.

"Dammit"

Kinjo immediately raised his right robotic arm and expanded the size of his arm to block the attack with his palm.

Boom!

Kinjo for the first time felt tremendous pain in his right arm. The sword ray was strong enough to even damage his Buso Renkin. Cracks had appeared in his metallic arm. Before Kinjo could have time to heal, like a flash of light, Itsuki appeared behind him.

Bang!

The Katana went straight through his heart. Kinjo's entire body trembled as he somehow managed to turn around, only to meet Itsuki's bone-chilling eyes that were filled with endless killing intent. The next moment, Kinjo's entire body began to turn into billions of small particles of dust.

"The L.X.E won't let you..." Kinjo wasn't even able to finish his words as his entire body turned into dust.

Itsuki looked down, only to see another Kakugane with serial number 52 on the ground.

"This must be Kinjo's Kakegane....Shit...not now." It was as if the glass container had started to crack. Itsuki immediately put the Kakugane in his pocket and sat down with his legs crossed. After months of training, it was finally time for Itsuki to break into the next rank.
