"20 million Poke, a Happiny egg, and top class feeding methods for the entire Pokemon line, plus you can ask for help from the Joy clan" said Nurse Joy.

"I'm sorry Nurse Joy. It's not about the price. The answer is still no" replied Alex.

As Amelie mentioned, Nurse Joy was very interested in the Lapras. Alex don't know if it was the peaceful temperament of Lapras they found attractive, its rarity, or the move Life Dew it automatically learned. Regardless, they offered generous conditions to buy Lapras.

Alex refused them of course, he had raised the Lapras since it was born, taught it to battle according to his style, and had grown quite attached to the gentle Pokemon. Professor Oak had probably refused too, since he had been quite excited about breeding Lapras when he first recived the eggs.

"Maybe you can ask for some Lapras eggs when they are available? In any case, my Lapras is not for sale" said Alex firmly.

"Professor Oak also offered to sell us eggs when they are available. But the two Lapras are too young to breed. It may take more then a year for them to actually lay eggs. Even then, there will be a pitiful few" said Nurse Joy.

In this world, it was not possible to breed Pokemon and obtain eggs just by leaving them together for a while. Pokemon had to be of a certain age to breed, and they would only lay a few eggs every one in a while. Also, very few Pokemon could be used as breeding mules. Most Pokemon would select partners and mate based on their own desires, unless some harmful means are used to force them to do so.

Nurse Joy could only sadly leave, but not before saying the offer stands if he ever changed his mind.

The next day, the entire team from Nurse Joy Academy were ready to leave.

The older Nurse Joy had had a lengthy negotiation with Professor Oak regarding the sale of Lapras. For some reason, they seemed very eager to have Lapras. After getting a promise of being the first considered party for its sale, they were satisfied.

Professor Oak and Alex were at the door of the lab, sending them out.

The Nurse Joy, after exchanging goodbyes and polite words with Professor Oak, were prepared to board the bus they had used to come on the trip. It was a pink bus with the shape of a Chansey up front, and was the standard vehicle used for transportation by most Nurse Joy.

"Remember our deal about Lapras Samuel. We will be leaving now" said the older Nurse Joy. While boarding the bus, she turned back, looked at Alex who was standing next to the Professor, and whispered something to one of the girls. She nodded, and boarded the bus herself.

She then came back down, holding a pink egg in her hand.

"Goodbye Alex. Thank you for the taking us around the ranch and answering our questions yesterday. This Happiny egg is a gift from us at the Nurse Joy Academy" said Amelie while smiling.

"Ah? You are welcome. And thank you" said Alex as he said while reviving the egg, unable to contain his happy smile.

"We would also like to give you the cultivation method and food recipes for this line. Give me your contact number. I will send you those things" she said.

After they both exchanged contact numbers, Amelie said goodbye again, and boarded the bus. It then started moving, and was out of sight soon.

"Well, aren't you lucky one! Not many people can get their hands on a Happiny. And here you are, gifted one by someone from the Joy Clan" said Professor Oak.

Alex grinned while looking at the egg. He than asked, "Why would they give me an egg? I thought they had a tight monopoly of this line and aren't happy with others having them?"

"Well, Santine wants to have a good relationship with you. Or more specifically, with Researcher Burns, your 'father.' That idiot August has been boasting on how he recognised you as the son of Researcher Burns every chance he got. The word has spread, and the Joy Clan obviously got word and recognises the rumour too. That little girl is the granddaughter of Santine. With both of you having each other's contact, she can maintain communication with you. The little girl will undoubtedly keep in touch, asking you questions to ask your 'father' and you can ask questions about Happiny and Chansey to her. Santine is one of the decision makers in the Joy Clan, and wants to further her granddaughter's influence by getting her a connection with Researcher Burns" said Professor Oak.

"Plus, if you want to evolve your Chansey later, you will undoubtedly have to purchase the Blissey Potion from them. You will no doubt turn to the little girl you have contact with, and she will probably get a favour from you instead of the usual colossal amount of Poke they ask for" said Professor Oak.

"The Blissey Potion eh?" thought Alex mockingly.

While there were not many Chansey owned by trainers outside of the Joy Clan, there were undoubtedly a few thousand in existence. But most of them couldn't evolve their Chansey into Blissey, as it wasn't known how. The Joy Clan had a product called Blissey Potion, that could allow a Chansey to evolve into a Blissey. They only sold this potion to handpicked candidates, and that too for a colossal amount of Poke.

But Alex knew from his previous life that Chansey evolved through friendship. And as he had learnt from the Eeveelution exprements, here, such evolutions required absolute comfort and relaxation.

The Blissey Potion was probably a potion that was configured to relax Chansey enough to get it to evolve.

"Maybe I should make an Umbreon Potion, Espeon Potion and Sylveon Potion" thought Alex in amusement.
