Chapter 088

Alex was back in Pallet Town after spending two weeks in the forest near Pallet Town.

He and his Pokemon, with Nidoking of course spent all their time running around in the forest, having fun and occasionally challenging some wild Pokemon. Even wild Pokemon close to Pallet Town were partially trained, as Alakazam would visit to 'chat' with them if they got out of line. Hence, they did not mind Alex's and his Pokemon's presence. They let him sleep peacefully, and accepted his requests for challenges.

Alex now had at least a little practical experience of camping and traveling in the wild, a preparation which he thought was essential to his future adventures.

He had come out now because he recived a text from Professor Oak, saying that his friend had arrived and would like to meet him. Alex wanted to know who this friend was, and if possible attach his name to the upcoming Fairy type research.

Alex went home to freshen up, texted the Professor about his arrival, released all the Pokemon in their favored resting places, and walked towards the Professor's office.

As soon as he walked in, he saw Professor Oak along another person, a rather tall middle aged man with black curly hair.

"Ah Augustine, I would like you to meet my young research fellow, Alex Burns. Alex, this is Augustine Sycamore. He is a Pokemon Professor from the Kalos region" introduced Professor Oak.

"Nice to meet you Professor" said Alex.

"Nice to meet you too Alex. Samuel was just showing me your research methods on Slowking, Politoed and all those Eevee evolution. I must say you are a unique genius" said Professor Sycamore.

"You flatter me Professor" said Alex, and just as he wanted to compliment Professor Sycamore too, he didnt know what to compliment him with. All he remembered from his previous life was the Professor's work on Fairy Types and Mega Evolution, and neither of those topics should be already be researched by him yet.

Luckily, Professor Oak continued talking, "You see, Augustine theorized the existence of a new type other than the 17 known ones a few years ago. But it was fiercely resisted by the rest of the Allaince" said Professor Oak.

"I was merely lucky. You see Kalos has three evolutionary lines of Pokemon that did not seem to be of any of known 17 types. So after extensive research, I managed to confirm that the weakness and strength matchup of the Pokemon proved that it was a completely different type. But when I tried to publish this theory of a new typing, I was met with a lot of backlash. I think it is due to the bases and higher ups of the Alliance being situated in the Kanto and the Johto region, and there being no Pokemon that are of this new type here. Hence they thought this was a special phenomenon or ability unique to Kalos. Later when it was found that some Pokemon in these regions also exhibited such characteristics, they were still unwilling to admit their mistake, saying that the data and type matchups do not match the one I published. I think the Pokemon of this place are dual type with one of them being this new type, hence this happened" said Professor Sycamore.

"I was vexing on how to prove that this was a new type. At this time however, Samuel contacted me and told me that Eevee has an evolution that seems to match this type. If an Eevee can evolve into a Pokemon solely of this type, that would be irrefutable proof that this new type exists. That's why I am here" concluded Professor Sycamore.

"Augustine has already identified every Pokemon that belongs to this new type in the Kalos region. But he has no sponsored individuals or connections outside the Kalos region. So, other than Sylveon, he came here to ask for our help in identifying other Pokemon from the remaining 5 regions of this type" said Professor Oak. "Also, while Augustine has determined the type matchups of this type, we must do it again here at Oak Corall just to solidify the proof that the table holds true" he concluded.

"So we have a lot of work ahead of us. I have arranged all the identified Pokemon of this type from Kalos to be brought here. Me and Samuel will get started on researching them, along with Sylveon which you discovered" said Professor Sycamore.

"Meanwhile, we need someone to search for all kinds of reports of Pokemon with 'Dragon Immunity' ability, and identify possible Pokemon of this new type so that we can make a list while we are engaged in research, and then have some of them transferred to the lab via issuing missions in Correlation. Considering the ability you have shown to dig up information online, and your extraordinary powers of observation and analysis, coupled with the fact you were the one who discovered Sylveon, you get the job" said Professor Oak.

"Welcome to 'Project Fairy', Researcher Burns!" said Professor Sycamore.
