Choosing Squirtle

The egg room was very big. It not only consisted of eggs of Squirtle but also other Pokemons, however, the eggs of Squirtle were in much larger quantity. The room was very big. It was accurate to call it a hall and there were selves of various Pokemon eggs.

"Kent, how can you have so many eggs? Does the Toise family sell eggs for business?"

"Haha no. Eggs are very delicate topic. There are only 2 places where the eggs of the Toise family are stored and this is one of those places."

"But stealing the eggs of Pokemons and keeping them here. Isn't that bad?"

"We don't steal the eggs but we preserve them. The eggs are here at the right temperature. There are some Pokemons that cannot take care of their eggs properly. Like Blastoise. It has the tendency to eat its own egg. It is mostly done by male Blastoise. So, to keep it alive, we bring it right here. The Pokemons could come here to see their eggs and they could take their baby with them."

"So, the eggs that we chose, what about them?", asked Axel.

"We will talk to the parents of those eggs but you don't need to worry. All the Pokemon are trainer's Pokemon, so all of them know the value of their children being in the care of a trainer. So, they would not complain."

"Ok, let's go and see the Squirtle eggs with the highest potential.", said Axel and all of them started to go inside.

After walking for some time, they finally reached the place.

These Squirtle eggs were blue and white in color. It had a peculiar pattern and it looked beautiful. It was pretty big and it was even bigger than Charmander's egg.

"All these Squirtle have monstrous potential. You can select either one of them. There was also a brief history of the eggs on who their parents were. Not all of them had the same father and mother. Sometimes, the father and the mother were also different.

This time, Axel wanted to get a Squirtle who had the same parents. He believed that with the same parents, the power of their water-type attacks would be higher.

As Axel started to look at the eggs, he selected 5 of them that had black potential.

"Agnes, you can choose among these 5. These 5 have the highest potential.", said Axel.

Agnes was in a conundrum. On what basis would she choose the egg? All of them looked the same.

Axel's 'Identify' had leveled up to 20. So, now he could see the egg moves of the Pokemon even though it was an egg. He could have helped Agnes choose a good Pokemon but he was not going to do it. She had to make her way and lead it.

After thinking for some time, she finally chose one egg and she looked satisfied with the egg.

Axel looked at her egg and she had chosen a good egg. One of the egg moves consisted of the move 'Aqua ring' which was very rare. It was hard to learn moves like 'Aqua ring'.

Axel looked at the stats of the egg and one of them surprised even him. He didn't hesitate to choose that egg.

These were a lot of moves for a Pokemon who had not even been born. However, what he loved about this Squirtle was 'Mirror coat', 'Life dew', and 'Aqua ring'. All of these moves were essential for Squirtle as these moves would keep it alive during the tide.

These moves were very hard to learn and it was a boon that these moves were egg moves. Egg moves were easier for a Pokemon to execute and even upgrade in the future.

"Looks like you guys have chosen your egg. Now, let go and meet their parents.", said Kent, and then led them to the forest. They were then able to meet their parents.

Both of the parents were all Blastoise. These Blastoise were grateful that a powerful trainer like Axel had chosen their Pokemon. However, they said that they wanted to meet their children after they were born. Axel and Agnes didn't have any problem with it.

"Now, I know that you are in a hurry but I need you to meet my wife and kids.", said Kent.

Axel had agreed to train his daughters and 3 of his daughters were going to come to his house to train.

Kent's wife was beautiful. She had blond hair and she was a tall woman. Even though she had 4 kids, she looked slim and young.

"Hello, Mr. Axel. These 3 are my daughters. Misty is sleeping right now."

Axel greeted them and Agnes started to talk to the daughters. All of them were of Agnes's age so she was happy that they were coming.

Axel talked to them briefly and then asked for Kent in a private talk.

"So, how do you want me to train your daughters? Do you want me to train them like a real trainer like I am or just a normal training schedule where I tell them about the basics of Pokemons and then teach their Squirtle some new moves?"

This was important to know. Kent had helped Axel in getting the medicine for Gyarados and now he had given Squirtle for free. In return, Kent had asked Axel to train his daughters.

Axel didn't understand why Kento would ask for such a thing. Kent was a very powerful trainer and a gym leader so he had more experience in training his daughter than Axel.

"I want you to train them like a real trainer. Even if they cry or are injured, I don't care. I cannot train them in such a way cause my wife is very soft with them and the politics of the Toise family is also very bad. I don't want them to be associated with other bad people. So, I want them to become powerful trainers and then the gym leaders of my gym in the future."

"Are you sure? That is harsh for daughters of your age."

"I am sure. I know that the world will not become mellow for them just cause they are girls. They will have to fight their way through if they want to live a comfortable life."

"Ok, but do your daughters also feel the same way? Cause even if I start to train them, if they themself are not motivated to train, then I cannot do anything."

"Daisy is ready to train. She is already 12 years old now and she wants to be a powerful trainer. But Violet and Lily don't think the same way. They do their normal daily training routine but that is it. They don't want to go the extra mile."

"Kent, I can't train those who don't want to train. If I am training someone, I want them to be serious."

"I know. They will take some time to become mature. Just train them as you like and it is my responsibility to make them understand that they need to train hard."

Axel agreed to it. He didn't want to train some young highness from a wealthy family but Kent had done so much for him. He had to respect Kent.

Kent then called his daughters to talk to Axel.

"Now, listen all of you. All of you will be going to Axel's home for a few months to train. Now, Axel is a busy trainer. So, if he is training you, you should take that training seriously. I don't want to hear that you are not taking this seriously. This is not a vacation but training time for all of you."

Kent said that with a serious expression. Seeing their father like this, all of them agreed but Axel knew that they would not follow when they reached his home. He was going to have a headache with these girls.

Axel also looked at them and spoke.

"Now, listen all of you. At the time right now, my city is facing the tide, so I will not be able to train you seriously. So, you will be training under my sister. After the tide is over, I will train you for one month and then leave you here. After some time, when I have free, I will start to train you again."

"Dad, is this true? Are we going where there is going to be tide?", asked Violet as she was visibly scared. All the girls were scared now.

"Yes, but you don't have to worry. You will not be facing the tide. That is a grown-up job.", replied Kent, and then Axel added by saying,

"But if you don't take this training seriously, I might throw you in the tide myself. If you also don't train seriously, I will not train you ever again. So think very carefully."

The girls were now very scared. They were just sipping tea and making their hair in the morning but now they had to fight in the tide? How did it make any sense?

"Dad, tell me we are not facing the tide?", asked Daisy.

"I am putting you 3 under the care of Axel. Well, if you die in the tide, I will take revenge but I cannot come there in a second to save you.", said Kent.

Daisy could tell that her father and Axel were lying but Violet and Lily thought that they were serious. So, they started to panic and then complained to their mother.

Kent had to hear an earful from his wife but this time he was serious. He said that they would not have to face the tide but they better take this training seriously.

After some tearful goodbyes, all the girls were ready to teleport. All of them came near Alakazam to teleport and then..

This teleportation surprised Kent. Normally, one would have to touch the Pokemon to teleport successfully. If the Pokemon could teleport without touching then that would mean that the Pokemon had mastered the move very well.

Alakazam was only a tier 2 king-rank Pokemon. So, Kent was surprised at how it was able to do it.

"So, you also noticed it.", said Blastoise. It was a champion-rank Pokemon so of course, it could talk.

"Yes, what was with that?"

"Well, that was not Alakazam. That was Mew."

"Mew? The mother of all Pokemons?"

"Yes, but since she was hiding herself, I didn't think to tell you before."

"How did Axel got know Mew?"

"That I don't know."

Kent was very happy about it. Kent didn't just send the girls to the city that was facing the tide based on Axel's confidence. He knew that Oak's Pokemon would be protecting Axel's family and Axel. But now Mew was also there so he had nothing to worry about.

The girls were welcomed by Axel's mother and father. They had breakfast and they got to know the family and also Lance, K, Frank, and Cody.

Then Axel took all of them to the training ground and said.

"I already said that I will be busy with the tide so I will not be able to train you properly. In the meantime, Agnes will be the one who will help you in training.", said Axel.

"Mr. Axel, I don't want to be rude but Agnes is even younger than me. She is only 8 years old.", said Daisy.

"Oh, you really think so? Agnes, call out your Pokemon.", said Axel, and Agnes summoned Dragonite to the stage.

After seeing that the Dragonite was a rare rank Pokemon, all the girls confirmed that Agnes was a powerful trainer.

"Now, before going to my duties, let me tell you something. All of you including Agnes lack in personal power. If you want to be a powerful trainer, you not only have to train your Pokemons but also yourself. So, for today, you will be training yourself for 2 hours every day."
