So Foxx was crowned champion of the train and Gary had to admit his defeat. It had sure been a battle for the record books and with Foxx posing for his photo with the team he used to win only added to the wonder of it.
After all the formalities where over there was still a little time left before they'd reach Goldenrod City so the group went to the lounge car and got two booths next to each other.
Jenny, Brock, Jessie, James and Foxx in one while Meowlth, Growleth and Joy shared the other.
"So Officer Jenny can you tell me more about the origins of the rule that you mentioned before the battle?" asked Foxx.
"Well about fifteen to twenty years ago a group of young trainers were part of this same tournament. And one of the finalists was part of this group. Now the trainer he faced had a full team of pokemon where as the young trainer only had one." explained Jenny as the group listen closely.
"He stepped into the battle ring with his faithful Dragonair, when the officials informed him he needed a full party of six pokemon for this battle. Now seeing as he had no other pokemon this meant he'd have to forfeit. That is until the oldest of the friends stepped forward and offered a solution." continued Jenny
"You see this young trainer was an inspiring pokemon professor and suggested that if each of the finalist's friends loaned him a pokemon to use which would then bring his team up to six if he'd then be allowed to fight. The trainer had given a strong defense to the idea and the officials liked it and added the amendment to the rules." finished Jenny with a smile, "In fact Foxx you're the first to use the amendment since that trainer."
"Who was that group of friends?" asked Brock, "Were are they now?"
"Well the champion is the Dragon Master Lance of the Elite four. As for his friends two of them joined him on the elite four while two became gym leaders. As for the fifth and oldest well that'd be none other then Professor Oak." explained Jenny.
"Who was his opponent?" asked Foxx.
"Oh that'd be Giovanni, the Viridian City Gym Leader." replied Jenny.
This made both Jessie and James freeze. Here they thought their boss would be happy that their pokemon where used to win this tournament but know knowing it was under the same circumstances that caused him to loose the tournament would only anger him.
"But enough history this is our last chance to calibrate before we all go our separate ways." added Jenny. And that's exactly what they did. They talked and eat and really put their pasts behind them and just enjoyed each other's company.
