Pokémon: Master of life

In a forest left in ruin, a child left petrified awakens to his destiny. ... This is being written for fun. My knowledge of Pokémon is relatively outdated, though I only desire to focus on earlier aspects of the anime. XY and previous most likely.

High Hopes

I've located one.

A round-bellied Pokémon with a tan feathered underbelly and brown feathered top. Its beak protrudes a few inches and its dark eyes gleam in what seems like eternal focus.

It was a pidgey. But to call this pidgey normal, would be an insult. Despite not being evolved, everything about it was far more... Intense. Its beak was sharp as all hell, its talons looked like they could pierce my skin easily. And more noticeably... It's size. Around 2 times the normal.

It stood perched on a tree, 2 downed Pidgey directly below it laying unconscious on the ground.

Its gleaning eyes then turned to me, looking as if it just found its next prey.

This bird... Was a bully.

...

Me and Mawile had continued battling the various Pokemon of the forest. It was only a matter of time with how deep we were going before I realized... This place... Was HUGE.

It made me a little less reserved about taking down some of the wildlife.

Grandpa Xanax had told me about the various berries that grew in the forest and their healing effects.

Of course, I took this as an invitation to go look for a few.

In my search, was when we had stumbled on the overgrown pidgey. It was beating its own brethren with what I made out to be a smile.

...

A loud screech later and a pidgey suddenly enters my field of view.

It's fast to huh?

Right before it could collide with me with its glowing wings, however, it was forced to back away as an arm suddenly blocked its way.

Flying above, the abnormally sized pidgey wearily looked at the beast of a Pokemon that was far larger than it ever thought possible.

Its small smile was one of welcoming, like it was welcoming a friend, but the extra appendage attached to its head didn't allow Pidgey to fall into that trap.

"Let's see... Mawile, ancient power."

"Wile." To my command, Mawile began charging up. Her focus was entirely on the air in front of her, as a white ball of energy began forming.

Right, when it reached around 6 inches in diameter it was fired off, shooting straight toward the pidgey.

The speed of the ball of energy was admittedly a bit lackluster. That was fine... I never really expected it to make contact, I simply was hoping for the boost in all stats that sometimes comes with the attack. Unfortunately, though, it didn't happen.

What did happen though, was a makeshift smokescreen after the move impacted one of the trees.

The Pidgey, blinded by the smoke, was forced to go lower to reclaim its vision.

"Rush it, try to grab it with a fire fang," I ordered as Mawile immediately burst into movement.

The pidgey was a little late to respond, something I thought was due to having smoke in its eye.

It did however notice Mawile in the last couple of seconds, to which it attempted a sand attack into an escape.

Unfortunately, with Mawile's massive form, the sand attack reached nothing but her stomach, and when pidgey tried to fly again it was snagged with her jaw before it could ascend above her.

Embers of flame reached pidgey as it was trapped in between the sharp protrusions of the Pokemon's jaw.

"Slam it toward the ground," I ordered again. I had actual plans for this pidgey, I'd rather not completely K.O it right now.

"Wile." Mawile spun around before jumping and then releasing the burned pidgey. The added momentum made its landing, not a soft one.

"Brutal aren't we?" I asked patting the girl's extra jaw for a job well done. I wouldn't have chosen that spot if I hadn't learned she really enjoys it.

When I knew she felt thoroughly appreciated I moved my gaze to the fallen pidgey. To its credit, it was still conscious and had a dangerous look in its eye.

But... I could tell. It was done, it wouldn't get back up.

With that assurance, I walked closer.

"You've lost." I admittedly was winging it hard when it came to tempting the Pokemon to our side.

It was probably not the best I could've come up with considering my motive, especially considering the glare that intensified afterward.

"You seem like a strong Pokemon. I can tell you're clearly stronger than the rest of your species." I continued, pulling words out of my ass as I went.

"How would you like to be stronger? With my help, I can take you far past what you ever thought possible."

"Plus, you can always get a rematch with little Mawile here." The Pokemon in question was completely not paying attention to the happenings with her master and instead was busy picking flowers.

"What do you say?" I said pulling out a berry from one of my pockets. It was green and oddly shaped, but I was told by Xerneas that it would cure any status condition.

"This berry will help you, if you accept my terms eat it," Those were my final words before I places the berry on the ground next to the pidgey.

After that, I stepped back and waited with bated breath.

A whole minute passed as the pidgey did nothing but stare at the berry. For a second I began to worry that it may have succumbed to its burns, but those worries faded as the small bird with a strained effort pecked at the berry.

When the berry had been eaten completely, the pidgey stood back up silently.

"Welcome aboard!" The excitement of the 'capture' of my second Pokemon prompted me to pick up the bird by its talons.

"Wile." Mawile decided now was a good time to return and celebrate.

Pidgey just gave a snarl to Mawile before it turned its head away.

'Ok, might take some time.' I noted as the now three of us returned back to camp. A shit ton of berries, and a pidgey as new members to our growing family.

...

The next few days were a lot more… interesting than usual.

Pidgey proved to be exceptionally difficult when it came to getting it to comply with… well anything.

When it was time to battle, it did its own thing. Throwing out random ass moves instead of what I tell them to.

When it's time to eat, they eat the berries I tell them not to.

And when I tell them to train, they refuse.

It was becoming a big fucking problem, something that got even the always kind and gentle Mawile annoyed.

I didn't want to lead my Pokemon through fear, but in all honestly, that is where my mind first went when it came to gaining pidgey's compliance.

Thankfully, I was sensible enough to banish the thought and look for other solutions.

Turns out, one was thrust right in front of me.

...

It happened when we were back in the forest, around 2 weeks after pidgey joined our group.

Mawile in that time had grown to new heights and learned new moves. Pidgey on the other hand...

"Use gust!"

I commanded clear frustration on my face as I watched the annoyance completely disobey me and instead throw a pile of sand at the 4 weedle.

The damn bully was incapable of just finishing them off and had to toy with them.

Unfortunately, the overgrown doof, was so lost in his own smugness that he ignored where his attack had it.

That was until, a dozen of red beating eyes all made themselves known along with an ever-nerve-increasing buzz.

"For fucks sake! Pidgey get back." My order apparently came too late as two of the red eyes dashed from its place in the shade and went straight for pidgey.

Shit. Shit. Shit.

Mawile had immediately dashed into action trying to intercept the beedrill. Unfortunately, even with the minor strength increase Mawile had gotten, it wasn't enough to make it there in time.

Similar to what it had done against Mawile... Pidgey attempted to get into the air, but that wasn't happening.

Instead, the chasing beedrill slammed into Pidgey in a quick attack, and knocked the bird a few meters away.

Mawile, of course, tried to go to the bird but found herself busy, when 3 other beedrill all came at her.

This left poor pidgey defenseless as 3 beedrill ganged up on it. Despite the odds, the glint in its eyes remained as it pushed itself up with its wings.

And like that, an uncontrolled battle ensued...
