Pewter city gym battle II

(Any moves the pokemon uses in the battles have been researched and verified with the official pokemon pokedex, so don't ask me, I thought only alolan golem could flamethrower, turns out normal gen-1 golem can also learn flamethrower through TM and when Flint is the gym leader of Rock-type gym, it is expected he teaches his pokemon about how to deal with their type weakness, water, and grass)

(With this chapter, we got ~15700 words, making this story into the rankings, whatever that means.)

"Ivysaur Bullet seed him." Ivysaur, true to my word spent no time hitting the Rhydon with Bullet seed.

"Rhydon use Earthquake." Damn this Rhydon is still bugging me in this condition. "Use Razor leaf after that start collecting." "Saur."

"RHHYYYYY...DDDOOOONNNNNN" He made a huge Roar and the whole Arena shook, but Ivysaur avoided most if not all of the damage without me asking to save herself, she has gotten smart.

Meanwhile, Razor leaf had done its magic, amply damaging the Rhydon to make it unable to continue.

"Rhydon is unable to battle, this round goes to Ethan hunt from Pallet town." This time the flag was raised in my favor.

"Your Totodile sure packed a punch, but you need to make him practice his moves more, the last attack worked just because of the size and type of Rhydon, and most Pokemon you will battle won't have issues of speed as such," Flint spoke his mind to me taking out his next Pokemon, which I knew was a golem. This is not going to be easy with it being a third evolution, which means no matter the base stats being the same as that of Rhydon, his moves should be more versatile and well-trained.

Even though this is an A-rand gym battle, I could still feel Flint holding back with the Rhydon, I wonder what would have happened if he had not been restrained by the like of the league.

"Go Golem." As expected, a huge round stone ball escaped the white light, with his legs arms, and heads coming out of the round body.

"Golem"

"Begin" Forrest marked the start of round two, or it should be three.

"Rollout" The Golem picked up speed quite quickly and the distance between Ivysaur and Golem was closing down very fast.

'wait'

"SOLR BEAM" with enough time to charge one, Ivysaur's flower bloom at his back lit up and with it, a shiny yellow light traced the path between Golem and Ivysaur.

*Boom*

I took the risk with this move as Ivysaur is still not proficient with the SOlar beam, and the result of that is a small setback, actually. But it was worth it as it is a move to reckon when the receipt is of a type you are strong against.

The arena around where Golem was before the attack had dust and rubbled up. I waited for Forrest to announce a win, there was near to no chance that Golem took the attack without major damage.

But Flint was smiling, this was bad, and he had a comeback in his mind.

"Ivy, collect again" I announced quickly enough for her to listen.

"Saur?" she was confused about my intentions confident in her move she still did what I asked.

"I am not gonna let you do that again, Golem Flamethrower." Out of the dust came a ray of hot blazing flames, Ivysaur as quick as she was escaped the onslaught of the red hotness adversity Golem had raised from his side.

The dust settled and the sight was impeccable, the Golem had been hurt. But the damage was similar to if it was a bullet seed, and the difference between bullet seed and Solar beam was of night and solar. If I have to estimate, the damage was 20% of what it should have been, and I think I know what happened.

Rock types have a hidden ability sometimes, it's quite rare. I don't remember what it's called though.

"Sturdy, if you are thinking what it is, it does not let Pokemon faint in one move," Flint replied as if reading my mind, this is going to be a tough challenge, one I am eager to be tested against. (sturdy is the ability name)

"Earthquake."

"Ivy, Seed bomb while closing range" The more time that Golem is in that arena the more chances I will lose, one of those attacks is going to hit and with the level, I estimate of this third-evolution Golem, the hit would pack a serious punch. I need to get her to land a hit, the closer the better damage, the better chances of downing the Golem.

Fortunately, the seed bomb connected, causing substantial damage unlike what the Solar beam did. Earthquake turned out to be not effective with Ivy's Vine whip maneuvering tactics.

"Rock Blast up close" "Dod-"

The attack hit before I even finished. "Another, Rock blast" "Vine whi-"

It happened again. "Ivy, guard up close, ready while charging." This is bad the Rock blast seems to be some type of priority moved, dammit it's not like I know every move a Pokemon can make.

"Rock blast and then Roll out." Another attack hit Ivy, the Solar Beam was interrupted and now a Golem was charging at her.

"Take the hit while retorting back with sleep powder." The Golem was fast and IVysaur took a full hit of Roll out but the momentary Sleep powder had done its work, while for a short time, Golem was incapacitated.

Sleep powder was not omniscient, high-level pokemon are put to sleep for a small time while some pokemon have innate resistance towards it, the types mostly being electric and fire, worse yet, in a hot environment with an open area, the powder dissipates very quickly. But a puff for it straight on your face works like no other thing.

With enough time and ample sunlight, I had the choice between consecutive attacks which cause damage over time or another Solar beam.

"Poison powder and Seed bomb, don't stop till that Golem is down."
