Chapter 9 love so impossible

If only it was possible for the doctor to play the scenario of what was likely to happen if she performed the surgery, then maybe Mario would understand and stop thinking about it. She didn't have magical powers to bring back the dead to life. No werewolf even had that capacity or any magical powers at all. What he wanted her to do was a suicide mission and she would be more affected by the outcome.

"It is not just possible, my dear. There is nothing I can do to help you. I can't kill you to help you and I suggest that you just bear your fate happily. There is nothing you or anyone can do about it. This is your destiny and there is one thing that I know for sure. The Moon Goddess has reasons for this, though I do not know what her reasons are but I know that it isn't for something bad. So I suggest that you go home and take a nap. Forget about this completely and go about your normal duties. Everything will make sense and fall in place with time." These were the words of Penelope and Mario knew at that moment that there was nothing he could do to convince her to do otherwise. Even he was tired of having to repeat the same thing over and over again and having to hear the same reply over and over again.

Yes that was it, there was no way around this anymore and the only thing left for him to do was to accept his fate happily as she said -- he was going to accept his fate for sure, but he wasn't so sure about accepting it happily. He had never experienced true happiness and he wasn't sure that he ever would.

"Thank you, doctor Penelope and I am so sorry for wasting your time." Without waiting for any response from her, he got up from his seat and left the office. Penelope tried to call him back but he had already shut the door before she could even try. How she pitied him; he had been suffering all his life, trying at every slightest opportunity to convince her to carry out the operation on him. She knew that he was suffering but what could she do? That was life's own way of dealing with him and there was no one that could handle the situation of his own life if not him.

...

The thought of the fact that he was going back to his father's house added to his problems. He didn't want to live with them -- from the time that he was old enough to know that he was being treated badly by his father and brother Tyler, he wanted to leave the house and live on his own but then his father would remind him of how his late mother wished that he wouldn't be like other kids that would leave the house and go to live on their own. According to Sylvester, Emily wanted the togetherness of her family and it was too bad that death took her before she could see that happen.

He never met his mother and that was the more reason why he wanted to honour her even in death. Normally as an adult, he would have already had his own home and lived his life the way he wanted to but the fact that his late mother's wish was for him not to go away from home was something that he couldn't ignore or turn deaf ears to. She was still his mother after all and even in death, he wanted to keep her word.

His father's house was not so bad to live in -- he always got whatever he wanted and lived comfortably as a man but the only thing that he lacked in his life was love. He lacked the love of his father. Mario would watch his father give both Tyler and Liam preferential treatment -- he would take them out for a drink, play games with them and do every other thing a father would do with their children with them but that was something that he never experienced. Even after 30 years, Sylvester still looked at him as someone that killed his own mother. What was worse for Mario was that he tried to imagine how exactly he killed his mom -- he was only a newborn and he believed that newborns had no power to do any evil but yet he was accused of killing his own mother. Which son would kill his own mother? He wanted motherly love so badly and now that he knew that it was impossible to get, he craved for his father's love, too bad for him that it was also impossible to have.

He finally arrived his home. As he got down from the car the first thing he did was to stand and stare at his father's mansion. He began to wonder why things that looks beautiful from the outside never looked good in the inside -- he was appreciative of the fact that he was born into a rich home and even he, was wealthy as well but then, despite all the wealth and everything that presented itself before him, he wasn't happy and even as he was going to enter inside the house, his sorrow would continue -- his sorrow of being the weakling of the house.

Mario finally walked inside the house and he was surprised to see his father at home sitting in the parlor and drinking wine alone. He stopped to stare at him briefly as there was no point greeting him and calling for his attention.  He decided to mind his business and climb upstairs. He had just stepped on a few stairs when he heard his father call his name.

"Mario." Sylvester called him and Mario halted and turned towards him, though still standing on the stairs. "I would like to see you as soon as you are done freshening up." Mario gave no reply and Sylvester wasn't bothered about that. He knew his son very well - he knew that he would still come, after all he had been dying to have his love and attention.

Whatever Mario was passing through was none of Sylvester's business. Left for him, he would have done away with him a long time ago but he didn't want to do anything that would hurt his wife whom he still loved and missed in death. Love was something that he had tried to give him over the years but it wasn't just flowing and seemed more and more like an impossible mission. He even tried to fake it at some point but it only ended up increasing the hatred he had for him. So in a bid for him not to hate his son more than normal, he decided that it was better not to love him at all than to pretend to love him.
