Chapter 13 Bored

Mario had spent the better part of the day in his room trying to figure out what he would do with his life. Boredom was about to fade him out of existence and even though he was from money, there seemed to be nothing he could do to pacify himself. Should he go out? He asked himself, but where exactly would he go by that time of the day? Was he going to perambulate the entire streets of America all in the name of killing boredom? And of course places to go to wasn't a problem -- he was capable of going to the most expensive of places because he had money to spend but deep down that wasn't exactly what he wanted to do.

He had been lying down all day staring into space and counting the square shaped designs on his roof and he knew that if he stayed like that continuously, he might run mad. Yeah that's it, Instagram. He was going to check the gram to see what was going on there. Or maybe tiktok... Maybe some people's content would make him laugh or should he just go straight to google and search for anything at all? Goodness gracious! Things that he wouldn't normally think of was what flooded his mind. It would have been better for him to go and attend to one of his businesses than to stay at home today.

Mario picked up his phone and began to punch through only-God-knows-what. He decided to try out Instagram and the first thing he saw was a picture of a model posed in a seductive manner, all dressed in a hot bikini. Yeah right, it was Instagram after all. He continued to scroll upwards and there was just nothing that caught his attention. He minimized the page and entered straight to TikTok and watched a couple of videos of people doing one challenge or the other and some other type of content. He was still bored to the core as nothing seemed to please him at all.

Exhaustively, he dropped his phone by his side and let out a long sigh. He was definitely going to go crazy if he stayed like that. Normally he wasn't the type to bother about being alone let alone getting bored but he wasn't able to fathom what exactly was happening today. Yeah that's it, the conclusion had been made. He was going to either take a stroll outside or leave the house completely to go have some fun. Though he doubted that that was what was going to happen as the ladies always had a way of meeting him and asking for pictures and autographs. But either way he had made his choice. At least it was better than staying at home all day and doing nothing.

He got up from the bed and picked up a pair of jean trousers and a casual shirt and put it on, and then he picked up his perfume and sprayed it on his wrists and nape, then he picked his phone and left the room. As he reached the stairs, he could see his brother, Liam watching a documentary in the living room and on stepping upon the last stair case before the main floor, Liam noticed him and called him.

"Hello, big brother. Heading somewhere?" Liam asked with smiles on his face as his hand which held a remote rested at the back of the sofa.

"Yeah." Mario replied bluntly. He only wanted to leave the house unnoticed but now that Liam had seen him, he didn't want to answer but he just couldn't ignore him.

"Alright then, take care." Liam waved and turned his attention back to his TV.

Mario was about to leave when he heard the word "hippopotamus" from the TV. He still had his side towards the TV but on hearing that, his feet came to a halt and he could only turn to see what was going on in the documentary. He turned around and went to sit on the sofa -- for some reason, he became interested in watching what his step brother was watching and that was only because he heard the word hippopotamus. How could he forget that word? The catty word that Miss War used on him that day at his father's business launch. He was never the type to watch TVs, neither was he aware of the features of some animals but at the pronunciation of the word "hippopotamus" and the tone with which Peace said it to him, he could tell that it wasn't going to be a good looking animal.

Even Liam was surprised at his brother's change of mind, he could only roll his eyes in surprise as he knew that saying anything to him wouldn't propel any further conversation. Mario's eyes were fixed on the TV. His countenance was as one who was eager to see a particular thing. He was already getting impatient and fed up with seeing the reporter's face and wanted to see the main thing that caught his attention.

"Where is the damn animal?!" Mario asked in a gruff voice and Liam had to stare back at him to know what exactly the problem was. Could it be that his brother, Mario, was now raving mad?

"Is everything okay, brother?" Concerned Liam asked him and as usual, Mario ignored him and concentrated still on the TV.

"... which makes the animal very hostile. Now let's go back and take a look at the fierce animal and discover some of the amazing features it has." Said the reporter from the screen. Mario adjusted himself and sat almost at the edge of the seat as he was now ready to behold the animal that Miss War compared to him.

Liam still had his gaze fixed on his brother -- he was looking for any sort of thing from his side that could explain why he was behaving the way that he was behaving. Oblivious of what was going on, Liam would briefly stare at the TV and then back at Mario. What he saw next was that Mario's eyes widened at some point and he now looked to be shocked. What could possibly make Mario's facial expression be that way? He turned his attention back at the TV and saw that he was looking at a hippopotamus.
