Being face to face with Jormungandr made it absolutely clear the beast was not hap

My theory that Fenrir's fang could injure Jormungandr was based on nothing more than a vague hunch, because although I had proven that Jormungandr was immune to magic, I didn't know for sure if brute raw force was the answer, I operating under the assumption the nordic tale of Thor killing Jormungandr was true, and if it were, well the chances of my idea working were high, mostly because I knew how Thor operated, he was not a god to use his mana like I do, or Odin does, Thor uses his mana in the most basic and rudimentary way, simply using his vast pool of mana to increase his already monumental brute force.

Taking a deep breath, I levitated Fenrir's fang above my head, waiting for the perfect moment to attack the monster, one wrong move… and Jormungandr would kill me, that much was certain, I had to maneuver this fight with precision, because the beast, was barely trying, you see.. a couple of minutes ago I had noticed Jormungandr was getting faster and faster, and that made me realize, he was probably more snake than I originally thought, after all, snakes are quite lethargic after brumation, and perhaps Jormungandr was just waking up from his brumation, and if that was the case, I didn't want to see how it would move when it was fully awake, I was already struggling to dodge his assault.

I continued to dodge his attacks until the opportunity to strike back arose when he was turning around, so with a battle cry, I threw the fang at Jormungandr, increasing my strength hundreds of times over my limit, pumping all the mana I could in to my arm, and as I threw the fang at the beast, I could feel my bones breaking from the massive tension they were carrying, just as I could feel the muscles on my right arm tearing apart from the sudden increase in strength and speed, it hurt, but it had to hurt, if I wanted to the success of my attack, I had to go over my limits.

The fang broke the sound barrier, descending towards Jormungandr with an unparalleled speed, or so I thought, Jormungandr upon seeing the attack approaching his head proved to be more than a mindless animal, and with an equally astonishing speed, moved his head out of the trajectory of the fang, Unfortunately for Jormungandr, his body made it a bit difficult for him to dodge any attack completely, and therefore the fang managed to cut the beast slightly, the damage was not great, at most it was superficial, but this had proved my theory to be true, Jormungandr could only be wounded with brute force.

But although this brought me some satisfaction, since I had managed to advance a little further in my quest to get the scales from the beast, I couldn't help but notice the massive difference in strength between me and him, I had to sacrifice my right arm to scratch him. And the scratch had not broken any of the scales on his body. Proving that getting the last ingredient was literally going to cost me more than an arm. Jormungandr was a beast without equal, of that... there was no doubt.

My right arm was going to take a couple of hours to regenerate the damage it had suffered, so taking that into consideration, I had three more shots, two if I wanted to play this game safely, since sacrificing both my arms would put me at a clear disadvantage, worse than I already was, some forms of magic needed hands, and losing that was risky. But even then, I had one shot per limb, where I would try to attack the area that the fang had previously scratched a few moments ago, "Let's see what breaks first, my body or your scales," I said with a nervous smile, while I teleported Fenrir's fang back to me, this time I would use my left leg to kick the fang towards Jormungandr.`

Once again, I waited for the right moment to strike, before increasing the physical strength of my leg and kicking the fang towards the beast with all my might, this time going further than the last time increasing my power beyond what I thought possible to the point I almost felt my leg explode, just like my arm, I felt in detail the pain, as the bones of my leg turned to dust the a result of millions of bones fractures occurring at the same time.

With much more force, this time the fang managed to cut and damage the monster deeper than ever before, but even so, the damage was once again superficial at best. But, at least I was getting closer to break the scale I so desperately needed to complete my weapon, so without wasting time I grabbed Fenrir's fang with my magic, and repeated the same process with my other leg, I had to finish this quest quickly, because I had the feeling that Jormungandr was a few moments away, to fully wake up, an omen that which would bring upon me, and unavoidable death.

Once again, at the sacrifice of my other leg, I managed to increase the amount of damage in the desired area, and as a result, I could see how one of Jormungandr's massive scales almost came loose, now everything depended on my last shot, my left arm, if I missed, I would have no way to get what I wanted, and I would lose much of my power by not being able to cast much of my magical repertoire, "Here goes nothing," With a long sigh, I teleported to the side of the beast, grabbing Fenrir's fang once again, before I slammed the fang into the loose scale with a mighty battle cry, finally breaking the scale off his body, with a smile, I magically grabbed both items, I had won... at least partially. For my happiness was short lived, faster than I could see the beast, slammed me with his tail across the ocean, in the end, I had acquired what I wanted… but… what was I supposed to do now, that Jormungandr had finally awoken.
