The summer break had ended, and school had begun as usual. However, I'm yet to deal with those third years within this period. Of course, I'd set up many plans with other contingency strategies. It was twilight. I laid down on my bed, seemingly lost in thought. In my mind, the golden steel monument lit up like a million fireflies. No, to be precise, many fireworks. It was really marveling and awesome.
The golden steel monument towered to the sky. Behind the golden stele was a golden Buddha with thousands of hands. The Buddha seemed extant. At the same time, I also felt like heaven and earth knowledge was in his brilliance. However, why do I think the Buddha was mocking me? On the surface of the tower-like monument were many ancient inscriptions. It marveled me. How come I could understand them. These inscriptions were like ancient wisdom containing fundamental rules for everything. Naturally, the ancient monument had a different language. This language appeared different from the common language that I'd seen. Regardless, I do not know the origin of that language. But for some unknown reason, I was able to understand them.
Instinctively, my gazes fell on one of the ancient terminologies. "the spirit that governs music: 5 scale music formula."
"Just out of curiosity, since I have no music temperament, how would I learn the art of music?" I tossed out this very question even if I understood that ungrateful gods-mind might ignore me.
"Many fools believe that temperament adds soul to music, but those are baseless arguments." Gods-mind retorted. He seemed uninterested in talking to me.
' Fool? This guardian spirit of supreme wisdom only knows how to brag. A thing that was neither male nor female; is it a···never mind. Why was this unknown garbage proud of itself? Even now, this ungrateful bastard that continuously stole my chaotic energy can do nothing better than look down on me. He even dared to call me a fool? How did I not see that coming?'
Whether the monument existed because of this so-called gods-mind or gods-mind existed for the monument is something unknown. The golden stele was a book of wisdom that had gathered the ways of the world, reasons, and logic. Almost anything was learnable, even the obsolete things not currently practiced. 'However, gods-minds make me want to curse anytime I think about this treasure. I don't want to think of that bastard's rudeness or frostiness. He doesn't even see me as a thing.'
So, like before, I went to Li Min for the nature of the three Toa Fen. Then, I borrowed the golden steel monument in order to analyze possible behaviors, facts, and root causes. I had matched my logic with gender orientation and personality building, arriving at my result. That was how I could confirm my suspicion about the nature of Toa Fen and her underlings.
After a few moments, I entered a state of silence. I began to understand the formula for melody and harmony of music. Those underlying logics were as clear as the sun. It was no wonder only a few songs can really stir the soul. Maybe, such an artist must have stumbled upon a fracture of these truths. I went deeper to learn dissonance, concord, discord, harmony, rhythm, etc. So many things about music laid on my feet. The monument taught me to make music with Guzhen, Qin, and Pipa. The principle of making a stimulating kind of music was relatively complex but with my innate ability and capacity, understanding it was a matter of time. The most amazing of all was that different instrument was laid bare in front of me. I entered worlds of music where I had to dismantle everything about these instruments and fix them back to normal. With these changes, I later understood the fundamental function of each part of these instruments, making my music control come to life.
After a while, I opened my eyes, seemingly enlightened. I opened my laptop and began to play melodies randomly as if trying different complex formulas of music in my head. I stood up after hearing a few songs and went to my wardrobe. My wardrobe was relatively ordinary but orderly. There weren't many clothes, but I arranged them well. In any case, I feel my clothes are dignified, but you can argue with the heavens if you're not satisfied. At the left flank of the wardrobe was a Guzhen string instrument. I brought it out and stroked it gently with satisfaction; I smiled, recalling how it all happened.
In the class!
Toa Fen, who was usually proud, always staying with her underlings, was flustered and alone. When I looked at this headstrong girl that was possessive and defiant, I smiled at her powerlessness. Now, she was lonely and desperately making miserable exchanges and gestures—it made me smirk with satisfaction. Even with all her effort, her followers had neglected her. In fact, they had almost pulled off all conversation away from herself. Many people who paid attention might have noticed, especially Li Min. But of course, she pretended no one existed in the class except herself. However, this proud and unfeeling girl knew it was my doing.
Lan Mei was doing fine. I couldn't have imagined the same with Boazhai Dayu, but she was actually putting up her best. People could act if put in the right situation. It would be 100% acting if they were probably at your mercy. It is like a switch flipped. However, even from afar, you could feel the desperation and desolation of Toa Fen, which was actually pitiful. But it was much to my satisfaction. She wanted to ride the mountain—I was giving her a taste. As homeroom ended, the two girls of Lan Mei offered respectfully to go home together with me. I'd be mad to refuse such an imperial offer, so I obliged. We walked out of the class with a peal of announcing laughter.
Back in my room, I was lying on the bed with a victorious smile, seemingly lost in thought. At this moment, a knock awakened me from my muse. "I have been receiving uninvited visitors lately. The first was with Xiu Ying, then Lan Mei, Boazhai Dayu, and Li Min, who wanted to make my room her study space. Now, who could be this ghost be as well." I muttered as I moved towards the door. After I had plotted Lan Mei and Boazhai Dayu, I called them to my room to have a long chat. Then I gave them orders to withdraw from the world of Toa Fen. Even though they felt unwilling, they eventually saw the bigger picture: not provoking me. From then, I ironed out most of the required details with them. Of course, I told them that I wouldn't hurt Toa Fen to settle their heart. However, Li Min was different. She came to my house unannounced. She even behaved like heaven created my time for her use. Insolence! That insolent girl shouldn't worry; after I finish with these prevailing matters, I would need to produce a grand plan to deal with her next.
Just as I opened the door, I saw Toa Fen with her depressed face. She entered my room even without my invitation. My annoyed heart never betrayed my expression. I wore absolutely no expression. In fact, I knew sooner or later she would pay a visit.
"You are humiliating me! What do you want!?" She cried with resentment.
"What do you mean?" I pretended not to understand the current situation.
"Give them back! What do you want to achieve by withholding them!?" Toa Fen erupted with outrage as she asked.
"You talk as though I was holding items that belong to you," I spoke without suspense as I moved to my bed. I was completely unfazed.
"Yes! Release people to me."
"In the first place—Isn't that funny? When have others become your private dogs? And even if I have them, doesn't that mean you couldn't keep them?" I answer coldly. There was no single flicker of warm emotion displayed in my frigid word.
I suddenly stood from my bed and went to the chair where Toa Fen was seated. Getting there, she stood in fright and stepped back towards the wall. I met her there. She was silent, yet her eyes gazed at me with determination and unwillingness. We were zero inches closer. I placed my hand on the wall and bent toward her. I slowly brought my mouth close to her ears and whispered to her.
"Aren't you terrified of being alone? If I could strip your two arms, I could isolate you even more. It doesn't matter. However, you were right about one thing: I am not afraid of the sky." I finished with a sip.
"What do you want?" Toa Fen calmed down.
"I am changing the order around. You are not holding me under the pretext of blackmail. You will do just as I want, and you will answer when I call. If you obey me, you will have your normal positive and haughty life again. I won't care about you." I whispered with a slight chuckle.
She nodded. Toa Fen was still bearable to these changes—she desperately wanted companions to feel relieved and powerful. This person detested being alone.
"I need a Guzhen. Can I trust you to get me one?" I requested.
As expected, Toa Fen frowned, but she still nodded. And this was how she got the string instrument, Guzhen. An item that would have cost me about 2,600 Yuan approximately, I got for free. How amazing!
