Path of the Exile

Path of Exile is supposed to be about someone who is ripped into another world, just to be denied any interaction. The main character is forced through many trials by himself and I aim to capture the emotions and his state of mind as he goes through tribulation. Now I just need to stop sucking at writing...

Study

*I reached the peak of my exhaustion at around 2:00. There were many reasons for this, for one, the sun was at its peak. I imagine it brought me to heats that surpassed anything we got back on earth, at least considering how much bigger the sun seems here.

On top of that I hadn't had anything to drink in over a day. Honestly I don't know how I was still moving, I had continuous pain coursing through my head, and it felt like somebody was trying to choke me in my chest. As I stumbled along, I had to try my best not to fall because of the pains in my leg joints.

While a mouthful of sand would be bad, I could deal with it. On the other hand, the burns were far worse. They would be inflicted on any part of your skin that was exposed making it even harder to stay standing through the pain.

It was about then when I saw it, it wasn't very big, but it meant the world to me at the moment. At the edge of my vision I saw a few plants. As much as my thoughts raced to understand what that meant, they could still be simplified as plant=water.

As slow as I was stumbling along, it still only took half an hour to get to the plants, an beyond those plants were more plants, and a beautiful oasis. I managed to push myself to go at a brisk pace towards the bubbling pool, before practically throwing the steaming water at my mouth.*

It has been about a day since them, and I can't even move properly anymore. Dehydration must have really took a hit on me, I have even lost weight. Another blue screen came up at some time congratulating me for surviving. I think the specifics were something like this.

On top of that, it seems like the burns on me have disappeared, I even feel almost comfortable in the heat.

Soon I find my self standing up, though my body still feels weak. At the very least I can walk now. I make sure to watch my step as I go to take another drink.

After relieving my self I think about what the new system function. Considering the system even has a study I am guessing I won't get some sort of instant comprehension most of the time. Well I guess I should find out what this study is first. I close my eyes in anticipation before whispering.

"Study"

———————————————————————

The study seems to be an interesting place, though not the best for my conscience. To put it simply, the study is completely dark, I guess you could say it is the best environment if you want to avoid distractions.

Sure enough, I don't even have a body here. Instead, I have been forced to take the form of some sort of compressed fog.

It's kinda mesmerizing to watch the fog cycle around me. All the more fun, I have a control over the fog and can maneuver it around

As futile as it seems, I continue to look around by speeding forward with my mind. After a few moments I see a huge word made of fire in front of me. After backing up to see it, the words "Fire Affinity" fill my vision.

To fix this size problem, I figure I just need to grow bigger. A bit of concentration brings things to a more manageable state. Conjuring every bit of cultivation bullshit from the depths of my brain, I attempt to form a connection with the fiery words.

Then I close my eyes, for good reason too. After my bit of playing around the words started to distort and form some sort of room, in fact it was almost like a library, just without the books.

Instead of books, there were cubes floating about this room. Just as any other reasonable person would do I attempted to reach out to this cubes through any means necessary. When I discovered my hands wouldn't move, I reached out with my mind instead.

When my mind didn't work, I didn't really know what to do, so I just waited for the cube to come to me. It may have taken an hour, but one inevitably ended up running into me.
