When the Omnic Crisis broke out, Humanity didn't expect it to break out and was caught off guard. This resulted in countless countries being attacked and laid to waste. Though Overwatch was formed to put an end to the fighting, the United Nations also funded what they considered their "Fail Safe" shall the Omnics Win. The UN funded the research and operations of the Global Technology Advancement League or GTAL. GTAL was attempting to find a way to weaponize the Omnic's adaptability and find a way to create the Perfect Soldier.
This led them to create Project: Android. The Project was intended to help put an end to the Crisis. But research was taking longer than expected to make the best fighter imaginable. They eventually recruited people who had tons of experience in Biology, Genetic Engineering, Technology and more. All forms of science were being used for this project.
The Project had 6 main candidates for test subjects from around the world. The subjects were orphaned children who lost everything. GTAL didn't care and wanted to be successful. So, they managed to capture a Seven child. The children were labeled Zero, One, Two, Three, Four, Five and Six. These Seven subjects came in a wide range of ages. The Oldest Test Subject was Subject Five. She's 11 years old. Then you have Subject Two who is 10, Subject Three who is 7, and Subjects Four, Six and One are 5 years old. The youngest is Subject Zero. She's only 3 Years old.
Despite being called Subject Zero, she was actually the last found child. This was at the End of the crisis. When the Crisis ended, the United Nations started defunding GTAL, but stopped when they were presented with Project Android. GTAL lied about the project's true foundation involving orphaned children, so the UN continued to fund them.
Blackwatch caught onto the Project and did some digging around. It didn't take them long to figure out about the Orphans involved in the project and what they were doing. GTAL was putting the children through Hell. Genetic Modifications and Cybernetic Augmentations were the main two. The children were being tortured until they were perfect. Their limbs were replaced with Cybernetic parts so they could continue to be better. Blackwatch attempted to convict them of their crimes, but GTAL covered their tracks well.
Subject Zero was intended to be a prototype and a vessel they could test hardware and methods of modifications on. This led her to becoming the most Advanced of the Subjects. Her body over the years was looking for more machine than Human. The girl was put through hell. GTAL realized that Subject Zero was handling the modifications exceptionally well, so they dubbed her. Android Zero, the Perfect Soldier.
Zero's body was changed to look more human after she was made GTAL's top priority but was in reality made of metal. Not flesh. Some parts of her body were still organic. Her reproductive system was still intact, most of her vital organs were intact as well. So, she could still Eat and Drink like any normal Human being. The other Subjects were separated from her as Kamora was being worked on.
Kamora Ishida was Subject Zero's real name. But the scientists and doctors that work for GTAL always called her Zero. All of the subjects were treated the same. They were all seen as just an experiment, expendable and as an object. Not the people they once were. Since Combat and Killing the enemies of the world was GTAL's goal. Most of the Subject didn't get basic education. Just what they needed to be good Soldier's. Kamora is a good example. Since she was only 3 years old, she doesn't know a lot of things. She doesn't remember what the outside world was like since she and the others have been stuck in the Facility for so many years.
GTAL continued their tests and experiments. 24 Years Ago, the Project Started and 24 years since then it's been stopped due to the United Nations ordering them to stop the Project. The UN was notified of the orphans they used for the project and not adult volunteers. This caused the UN to shut down the Global Technology Advancement League. Project Android was rightfully shut down as well, but the United Nations didn't know where the Subjects were.
So GTAL spread them out around the world in their different Facilities to keep them locked away. Especially Kamora. Her Demon like alter ego was an unstoppable force and an unstoppable killing machine that enjoys murder and enjoys watching the life of her victims fade away. She's Sadistic through and through and is a monster. So GTAL erased her Facilities location from maps and locked the Facility so that Kamora wouldn't get out.
She'd be stuck inside of her stasis pod for more years. Now in the present, Still stuck in stasis, the now 29-Year-Old Android hasn't awakened. She is still trapped in stasis within that wretched Facility.
Outside of the Facility, a small Overwatch dropship had landed and let its four occupants disembark. The occupants were none other than Winston, Lena Oxton, and Mei-Ling Zhou. Only three Overwatch members are currently available. Winston had recently sent out a recall. Only Lena and Mei have responded. But they're hoping that whatever is in this GTAL Research Facility will give them the help they need to save the world again.
The trio walked up to the front entrance of the Abandoned Research Facility. The Facility was located in a lush forest. It was Facility sat in the middle of a canyon. The canyon was circular in shape but had three separate rivers leading into it. The uneven terrain and rock formations within the Canyon offered cover for defenders and was big enough to keep whatever they kept in there.
Mei walks over to the door and looks for some kind of switch or button to press to open it. She soon found what looked like a magnetic lock on the door sealing it shut tightly. Mei walks over to it and brushes her hand on it, pushing off some dust that was on the small screen. It showed a red with the word LOCKED on it.
Mei: "uh, Winston." she worriedly calls out.
Winston—who was watching her back—turns around and walks over to her. Mei motions to the device locking the doors tightly. Winston steps closer and inspects it.
Mei: "who ever put that lock there, I don't think they wanted anyone to get inside." she said.
Winston: "Possibly. GTAL was known for their secrets before they were shut down." he said, trying to figure out how to break the lock.
It wasn't a standard Military issue. It was more advanced and had better tech. GTAL Tech obviously. It won't be easy to just break as they're made to withstand a freaking 50 Cal. But maybe it'll break if frozen solid.
Winston: "This model." he mumbles.
Mei: "What about it?" she asks.
Winston: "It was designed to withstand extreme heat. Not Sub-Zero temperatures." he said before stepping back and turning to Mei. "Freeze it."
Mei: "Are you sure? We don't know what's in there. Maybe GTAL put it there to keep something in there from escaping." she said, worriedly.
Winston chuckled.
Winston: "GTAL doesn't create monsters. The only thing that'll be alive in there is either their Security Omnics or one of their Subjects from Project Android." he said, humorously, trying to calm Mei's worries down.
Mei still worriedly glanced at the device. She sighs reluctantly and grabs her weapon.
Mei: "alright." she said, reluctantly.
Winston steps back and Mei begins to freeze the device with her Endothermic Blaster. It took her a while, but the device was soon encased in ice. Winston then steps forward and grabs the now ice-covered device. He pulls it with enough force and manages to rip it off as he heard a cracking sound as he pulled. Once he detached the device from the door, he dropped it on the ground causing it to break even more.
The door let out a loud sound signaling it was unlocked. It was so loud that it echoed and made the Agents cover their ears for a brief moment. The large door begins moving as it automatically opens. The door descended into the ground. Once the door vanished into the ground, Winston looked into the dark hallway that leads into the base. Mei peaks inside.
Lena walks over to them and looks past them, down the hall.
Lena: "Pretty dark in there." she comments.
Mei: "Wonder how long it's been without power." she adds.
Winston: "Not a power outage, all GTAL Facilities can last decades without losing power. A safety precaution. But this base has backup generators. All Research Facilities do." he explained.
Mei: "Then why is it so.... dark." she asks.
Winston kept his gaze on the hall. He then slowly began to move into the building. As he steps into the dark hallway, he looks up and sees the light above him has been destroyed. Winston then looked at the next light on the ceiling to see it was destroyed as well. He continued to walk forward until he halted his movements.
Winston: "Come inside." he calls out, his voice echoing down the hall.
He didn't turn around but heard Lena and Mei walk into the hall behind him. He looked over his shoulder and saw that Lena had both of her pulse pistols out. The trio advances down the hall. They passed many rooms that were locked, some open but empty. The weird thing was, the Armory still had weapons and ammo inside. Winston concluded that the Facility was hastily abandoned. For what purpose he can't tell. Besides the damaged lights, there's no signs of a battle of any kind.
The team takes a turn and heads down another hall after walking for roughly 5 Minutes. Down this new hall was another large metal door. The team walks up to it and sees a keypad. The large metal door looked heavily reinforced. So, something of value was behind it. Winston walks over to the keypad and tore off the front panel. Much to his luck, he manages to unlock the door quickly.
He had a triumphant smile as he heard the doors locks disengage. Lena kept her weapons trained on the door as it slowly opened to reveal a large circular room in the middle of the room was a large pod connected to a bunch of wiring while connected to the ceiling. There were tons of consoles in the room as well as a table that had numerous documents on it.
Winston was more curious with the pod in the middle of the room. He walks over to the pod and puts his weapon down beside it. Lena walked over to the table and noticed a black object with green accents. She curiously picked it up and saw what looked like a handle on it. She grabbed it and saw a button. She accidentally pushed it and to her shock, the object shifted and transformed into a Scythe. She was shocked at the weapon she had just discovered.
Mei—who was beside her—flinched when it unfolded into its Scythe mode. Winston had glanced over and watched Lena inspect the Scythe. He then looked at the pod and saw a console behind it. He walked over to the console and attempted to try and open the pod. After some trial and error—thankfully nothing bad happened—he finally got it as he heard a beep signaling that the pod would now open.
Mei and Lena looked over and watched Winston walk away from the console and around the pod. As he did, the pod hissed as steam came from the pod. Then the sounds of the pod's locks disengaging is heard as it echoes in the room. The pod's hatch then slightly pops up and steam comes out of it. The large hatch begins to slide upwards fully exposing the inside of the pod that was covered in a blanket of steam.
The hatch stops. Winston steps back a little cause the pod is freaking huge. A long silence fills the room as Lena puts the Scythe down. From the pod, a hand grabs the rim of its interior. Winston, Lena and Mei are surprised to see a woman in her late twenties step out of the body. She was covered in a high tech black and green body suit that had a pattern on it almost resembling armor without bulkiness. It looked like a second layer of skin.
The woman had black hair and black eyes. Her hair reached down to her lower back. Her feet, hands and head were the only thing not covered by her body suit. Of course, besides a small gape on her biceps and thigh around her joints so that her mobility isn't hindered. She steps out of the stasis pod and the minute her feet touch the cold metal floor below. She recoiled because it was cold.
She then sets her feet down onto the metal floor and gets off the pod. She stands up to her full height and looks around. Her eyes quickly land on the three Overwatch Agents. From her eyes, they're labeled as Unknown Entities with grey outlines as she scans them. To the agents, she's just looking at them.
The girl then gets an alert that an Unauthorized Entry was detected in the Facility. She looks at the three Unknown Entities she sees before her and then her eyes turn to the scythe lying on the table. He then looked at the Unknown Entities that now get a Red Outline and are labeled... Hostile. But she doesn't attack. Sure, they could be enemies, they could be the enemies GTAL made her to go up against.
But during training she's only attacked Simulated enemies. Never real living people. However, she sees Lena holding her Pulse Pistols and Mei holding her ice weapon. She was going to scan the weapons but saw their fingers on the trigger. GTAL Agents had guns and before she went in stasis, they had their fingers on the trigger. GTAL hurt her. These people have guns... so she'll hurt them. Not kill, just subdue.
So, she then suddenly turned into a blur and rushed for the Scythe. Grabbing it faster than they could think. She turned to them and spun her Scythe around and spun it into a battle stance. She didn't want to fight, but these new people looked threatening, so she'll defend herself. No killing though.
Winston: "Wait! We are not here to fight!" he called out.
The woman kept her stance but looked at Winston.
Winston: "We are Overwatch. We came to this Facility to see what GTAL left behind." he said.
The woman looked at him a bit confused.
Winston: "Ma'am... do you know what happened to GTAL?" he asks.
She shook her head, silently saying no. Lena and Mei lowered their weapons. Winston put his weapon on the ground.
Winston: "GTAL has been dissolved. They don't exist anymore." he said. "Are you one of their Agents?" he asks.
She shakes her head no.
Lena: "Can you talk?" she asks.
The woman looked at her.
Woman: "Not well." she said, slowly.
Mei: "how long have you been in there?" she asks.
Woman: "Don't know. Memory fuzzy." she said, slowly.
Winston: "What do you remember?" he asks.
The woman looks down in thought as she drops her guard and gets out of her stance, Scythe still in hand.
Woman: "Remember.... Pain, Misery.... been called demon." she said.
It was obvious that her grammar could use some work. The three agents just listened. Mei then asks a much-needed question.
Mei: "What's your name?" she asks.
Kamora: "Kamora. Name is Kamora Ishida." she said.
