"Are you guys sure you want to do this?" Marcus asked nervously.
Aaron looked up at him from his couch, calm and cool even though her heart was heavy; she hated to see him so worried, not able to get comfort from even Kris, who looked pained by Marcus's fears. It was an awful world where a son could be afraid of his parents.
"We're here for you, Marcus," Benji said softly. Harry flicked a glance at his brother, surprised; Benji just shrugged, eyes flickering to Aaron for a half an instant, and Harry hid a grin. Aaron was breaking his brother bit by bit, and he'd never thought he'd be happy about it, but there he was.
Marcus offered a weak, trembling smile. "Thank you," he said, his voice shaking as much as his hands. Kris reached out one of his hands, his expression soft, and Marcus took it without a second thought, clinging to it like a life raft.
