Cyan Augur

There was no way I could do anything to stop the falling rocks besides I was exhausted.

"Over here," Shannel yelled.

Three's lifeless body was sprawled beside her and Two was carrying an unconscious Cole. Claire, Five and I moved over to them.

"How can you be so optimistic, right now?" I asked Shannel.

"Just watch," she smirked and put up a force field around us.

"It won't hold," Claire deduced.

There was no escape. The roof was crashing down on us and the exits- if we could make it to them- were probably crawling with grahfins.

A thought popped into my head. I had given up where Three and Five were still brainstorming.

Their possibility wasn't the best but it was the only one so far. They weren't sure which floor we were on.

"Claire, your gloves," I demanded.

She gave me one and Five gave me the other.

"What do you plan to do with them?" she asked.

"Just get ready to heal me," I said and wore them.

I tapped the wrist and two numbers glowed to life on my palm.

30%.

I increased the capacity to a hundred, balled my fists and gulped. If thirty percent broke Claire's arm what would a hundred do to me.

"Don't tell me-" Shannel exclaimed.

"Do you want to survive or not?," I yelled. She didn't deserve my anger, she was only looking out for me.

Claire understood me and nodded.

With all my strength I punched the ground.

The pain was unbearable but I accomplished my goal. The ground beneath us gave away.

I was about to black out but Claire grabbed my arm. I was lucky that it didn't blow apart but it was pounding and purple. I felt the bone shift where Claire held it.

Gradually the pain subsided and the colour died down.

We landed sooner than I'd expected. Free fall in Shannel's force field was something else. I looked up.

Luckily the hole I'd created was small and only a few rocks passed through but they bounced off the force field.

There was a sound coming from our right. Three went to investigate and came back with two children.

"Christine," Shannel exclaimed and I guess it was her sister but I'd seen the boy before from somewhere.

Three disappeared again and came back with the Kyrios guy I'd seen earlier. Shannel and Claire went to tend to him.

"So how do we get out of here?" Cole asked. Somehow sleeping beauty was up and about again.

"Who knows?" Shannel said.

"We'll get out of here someho-"

A cold feeling flushed through me. I looked at Three. He felt it too. I looked for Five and found him sprawled on the floor dead. His left arm was gone. He died of loss of blood. The fool kept quiet and accepted death.

Suddenly growls erupted from around us and grahfins rushed into the room with Grace among them.

"Get behind me," I told Kevin. Shannel was beside her sister. There was a flash of white in front of white in front of me.

It was my staff.

I chuckled. I'd finally lost it. There was no way we were getting out alive but I wasn't going down without a fight.

I looked at the others and they nodded. Even the kids understood.

Before we moved an inch, smoke spewed into the room like water.

One by one the grahfins dropped.

After the last one dropped we still didn't move.

"Are they dead?" Kevin asked.

"It seems so?" a voice said behind the grahfins.

Mars soldiers marched into the room and surrounded us.

They were dressed in black except for one in white.

The one in white stopped in front of me. He tapped the side of his mask and it became transparent.

I recognised Commander Walker.

"You've endured enough Cyan," he said with a sad expression. "If I'm talking to the real one."

Three chuckled.

If they were rescuing us why the sad face, I thought.

"Not again," Cole said and fell to the ground face flat. Kevin and Christine followed. Shannel and Three slumped.

I suddenly felt lightheaded. I tried fighting the drug but couldn't. Claire dropped beside me.

The last thing I remember before I dropped was Walker's voice.

"Sorry."

Sorry for the hold-up but it's finally out!
