Chapter 27
Charlie pulled up with a load of toys, and the three men worked together to load the sleigh, nobody saying much. Jules hoped Charlie would chalk it up to everyone being tired.
“I’ve got to get back,” Caleb said, offering his hand to Charlie, who shook it.
“Thanks,” Charlie said. “We’ll have things ready for you tomorrow,” he promised before he drove the trailer to the warehouse.
Jules watched him leave before he turned back to Caleb. “I really am sorry.”
The elf chuckled. “Hey, it’s fine. I’ll learn to love again,” he teased.
Jules’s lips curved into a smile. “Thanks.”
Caleb climbed back into the sleigh and readied for takeoff. “Hey, Jules? Go get your man!”
