Chapter 95

____

Max looked at Aokiji intently, blood slipped out of his mouth and he tried to play up his act of being seriously injured. He had a calm face even though he got the news that the strongest power in the world was after him.

"What a shame," Max sighed. "That's… really… such a shame."

Aokiji turned his head and looked Max straight in the eyes as he laid down on the ground. He was surprised that Max had no fear in his gaze, he just seemed disappointed at something.

"You will jump out of here and I will shoot some ice spears at you, dodge or break them," Aokiji said, he didn't want to kill Max.

Even though the World Government had given the order, not everyone who worked for them would listen. They were still people and not machines.

Max nodded, got up and walked towards Aokiji, and put a hand on the man's shoulder.

"Thanks," Max muttered in a sincere voice.

Aokiji smirked. But suddenly his eyes widened and blood dripped out of his lips. He looked down and saw a bloody hand coming out of his stomach.

Only then did he realize that Max had attacked him… the last thoughts were... When had he been attacked? An Admiral like him would have been able to sense any attack, but he couldn't. How?!

Max had a cold look in his eyes as the Admiral dropped to his knees, and the ice-cold mist around them started dissipating. He quickly grabbed Aokiji by the head and ripped his head off without remorse.

After making sure that he was dead, Max moved quickly to disappear from the scene before anyone saw him.

____

-Max POV-

With Aokiji's blood still in my hands, I escaped the scene. I looked around and all of my senses were trying to find anyone who might have seen what I did.

While Aokiji was being kind right now, I knew that in the end, he would become my enemy. The enemy of my enemy doesn't necessarily mean that he was a friend. Plus he had his guard down and was injured in the fight against Whitebeard, there was no better chance than this to take him out.

I looked toward Ace and saw Luffy using his balloon form to stop one of Sengoku's attacks, though he was still heavily injured even from that one hit he took.

Some people who I didn't think would show up had appeared too. Nekomamushi and Inuarashi. The two Mink Tribe leaders unlocked Ace's cuffs and took Luffy before jumping away.

Sengoku seemed livid at this and his body slowly enlarged to become a giant golden buddha. "You think you can get away from here so easily?!"

The Fleet Admiral slammed down his palm, creating a shockwave and hitting them all. Ace winced before a giant flame wave as big as Sengoku appeared and pushed the Fleet Admiral away.

Ace then positioned his body and propelled himself midair, a technique he had learned after his fight with Raynare.

{Sun Emperor}

Suddenly a giant miniature sun of flames was created in his hand, it encompassed Sengoku's giant figure and the flames engulfed the Fleet Admiral. Once more, Ace used as much firepower as he could to stop the giant golden buddha.

The battlefield had grown chaotic, and somehow Ace was able to grab Luffy and jump off the platform. He flew up and landed right next to Marco.

They whispered something between each other before Ace threw Luffy at Marco. Ace slowly morphed into a giant flame buddha himself. He got ready to fight when he saw Sengoku jumping at him.

It was amusing really, Ace had grown so much in such a short time. He even used his Logia powers to make his body big. It was something similar to what Enel had used.

While it might seem intimidating, this was a very bad idea. It just made his body a bigger target to hit by Haki users. So this wasn't something anyone with half a brain would do.

Now Ace either had gone stupid in prison or wanted to drag the attention to himself. At the corner of my eyes, I saw Luffy slump in the ground with Marco using his flames to try and heal him.

These two brothers are something. The best strategy to defeat Ace right now was to go after Luffy. But no, I have to leave these people to suffer a little more. Just enough for my current strength to be able to build something inside the Marines.

Like a parasite, I needed the immunity to drop before making my move against the body. So the World Government had to lose some of its power.

Right now, leaving the Marines would be the safest decision, but not the best.

This was the best option I had, now was the time to take them down. Aokiji was dead, they needed an Admiral, and someone was perfect for that position.

My heart pumped like an engine, and my eyes stared at Whitebeard who had grabbed Kaido by his head and crashed the man on the ground. The island shook as the quakes traveled through it, this place would sink if it wasn't stopped and there was no Aokiji any longer to freeze the waves.

Akainu had stopped his fight with Mihawk now and went after Ace. The latter had become quite strong but still couldn't fight against Akainu in a straight fight. As a giant magma punch had knocked Ace to the other side of the battlefield.

But instead of taking this chance to chase after a downed Ace, Akainu's eyes wandered toward Luffy. It was strange since it was clear that the Whitebeard Second Commander is the bigger priority than some no-name pirate who hadn't even reached the New World.

Even though Luffy was Dragon's son, that didn't mean anything in the general gist of things. Just because he had a great father didn't make him great too.

So Akainu doing this meant he had some personal vendetta against Luffy, or more correctly… Dragon. He hated Dragon for some reason, and he hated him enough to cloud his judgment.

Right now would be a good time to attack, but unlike with Aokiji, sneak attacking Akainu would be dangerous for me and might even result in my arm being lost. After all, magma was no joke, and I wasn't 100% sure that he was distracted enough to have his Observation Haki be clouded.

Sengoku was fighting against the Mink Tribe leaders and was winning quite easily. Garp on the other hand kept looking at Akainu with an intense look… yeah, that was another thing Akainu had forgotten. Luffy was his grandson. Trying to kill him in front of his eyes wasn't a good idea.

By now Oars Jr, the ancient giant in Whitebeard's crew should have destroyed the ships that would allow the Marines to give chase. I can still vaguely sense his presence in the distance, destroying Marine Ships meant to encircle Whitebeard and stop him from escaping even if he somehow was able to save Ace.

A lot of thought had gone into these plans, Sengoku had saved no expense to make sure Whitebeard doesn't leave this island. But Whitebeard himself was no slouch either and had quite the strategic mind too.

Today will be a great day where many strong people in the world will die. Some with amazing Devil Fruits, I had made sure to sneak all of the fruits I could find in places where only I knew. Sengoku had been concerned about winning this war with the least casualties, but I had different plans from him.

This was the perfect chance to make my own position and strength known. Everything was being displayed to the world too, so this was my chance to play big.
