Chapter 47
“I…” I wanted to accept; I didn’t feel like walking all the way back after all my upset energy had waned. “If you’re sure?”
“Of course. Come on.”
After giving him my address, we were on our way. His car was blissfully silent after the noise at the bar, and it didn’t take long before he pulled into my driveway. All the lights were still on in my house. I leaned forward and squinted my eyes, making sure my porch was empty.
“Is someone up waiting for you?” Benji asked.
“Nah. I live alone. I ran out in a hurry.” I unbuckled and turned to him. “Thanks. I appreciate everything you’ve done tonight.”
He shrugged. “I didn’t do anything.”
“You did more than you think.”
