Zeke shook his head. He was back at the same hospital again, this time seated on a chair next to Sterling’s bed inside a private room on the eighth floor. He was exhausted, and he was certain he must look like a crazy person at the moment. His eyes must be red from all the crying he had done hours earlier as he’d accompanied Sterling in the ambulance, and had blood on his clothes. Sterling’s blood. Someone in the hospital must have contacted Sterling’s parents because they had reached the hospital while their son was inside the operating theater. Zeke would have felt a lot more awkward about his first meeting with them if he hadn’t been so much more concerned about his boyfriend’s situation.
