The rock's fall

"Avel! You're practicing again? Isn't it dangerous to do so, in this weather?", a soft but high pitched voice was made from Lilium, as she approached the former practicing his swings. She wore a pinkish dyed, brown-leather jacket over a white tee. As well as, thick pants which had fur at both the higher and lower regions. She also wore black gloves and leather boots. She was joined, holding hands with Vamyr, who had a similar appearance, except he was wearing what seems to be a white beanie, and that his brown-leather jacket was dyed in blue.

"Yo, Lily. Vamyr. What brings you two here?"

"Heeey, answer my question! Can't you at least wear thicker clothings?", she protested as the firstly-mentioned was only wearing his signature plain black tee and pants.

"Nope. I need to practice without them so that I can get accustomed to this type of weather."

"But, what are you practicing for? Are you planning to join the frontlines?", this time the question was posed by Vamyr. He often wonders why Avel was so determined to practice, being young and not preferring to play around instead. Although they would play together most of the time whenever they're as a group, it's known that he is practicing afterwards or even, without them.

"Hmm.. I'm not sure. I guess I'm doing it for the strength to protect?"

"Protect? Who do you want to protect? Isn't your family too strong to be protected?"

"That's true. But there's always a bigger fish."

"Eh? Bigger fish? What sort of terms are you referring to now?"

"Haha! Do you not like how I explain things? Well think of it as you being the biggest fish in a pond. Although you think that you're the biggest fish, when you're placed in a different pond or even, river, you're met with a fish bigger than you. Hence the term, 'there's always a bigger fish'."

"I like the way you explain complicated things, Avel!"

"I see, so that's what you mean by 'bigger fish', does that mean, you believe that someone out there is stronger than all of your family combined? But how are you so motivated?"

"Yep, you can never be too sure.

Eh? Does it seem like I'm motivated? I feel as if I'm doing the bare minimum."

"Wha- but you practice most of the time!"

"That's right, the faster I gain strength, the more I'm reassured."

"That.. makes sense."

Afterwards, the two who came by to play with Avel, watched him as he continuously swung his training sword. Only to have a snowball fight between the three not long after.

After playing with his two friends, Avel headed home to have his dinner with his family. Out of a sudden, he was greeted with a hug from the front, as he had just walked in.

"Lil brudda! Did you miss me?"

"Hey sis, of course I did."

"Hmpf. You'd better.

Why do you still practice with that crappy sword? Are you planning to be like father? But you have talent for magic and have the ability to surpass him."

"First of all, it's not crappy. I treasure this sword very much as mother bought it for me.

Is it strange to work on my physical abilities as well as magic? Why can't I do both?"

"Then I'll buy you an even better and bigger one!

Oh, like a magic swordsman? But mother says those type of people wouldn't go far in life.."

She's right, in the world of Fulirwe, people who had tried to specialise on being both a mage and knight, hardly make it far in the rankings. This is because each specialisation requires a great deal of effort and understanding. Ergo, they are rarely ever seen in the frontlines.

"I appreciate the offer big sis, but I prefer to use a sword such as this. Hmm, does that mean that you think I won't make it far?"

"No! I'm sure you'll make it further than any known magic swordsman! You're my lil brudda, after all!", she proclaimed after brushing his hair a little.

The two of them headed into the kitchen where the two parents were already seated. As Avel was having his meal with his family, he proceeded to ponder over his current situation.

"The rock's special! Homemade Las-.."

'I've made a halt in the progress of my mana. This is because I'm trying to get used to mana sense. All this time, I've been making it a habit to view the mana that's around me, that I haven't got a good grasp of sensing it instead.'

'In a sense, each colour of mana has its own 'weight'. You can't feel this weight in reality at all, only with the senses of the mana you possess. With red being the lightest and least dense, and the rare blue that I see, being heaviest and most dense. Although I have a red-skinned train covering my seven orangey-yellow trains, I am able to attract mana that are of red, to orangey-yellow.'

'I do this when I'm no longer under the watch of my family's guards. Ever since I've purified my mana, I'm able to grasp a good feel of my surroundings. It's as if I can see a whole room in a third's perspective, and I'm in the centre of it. I've only realised that a guard was watching me, when I coincidentally moved into the area where my room of vision made sense of the guard.'

'It's as if you're watching football from the seats and there's a large green bush attempting to blend in with the field, thinking, 'if I can't see you, you can't see me' in the middle of said field.'

'From there on, I've made sure that whenever I messed around with my mana, it's not under the observing eyes of the two guards that I've noticed.'

'Also, the room that I've mentioned earlier is how much mana I could attract and also affect, replicating Mana Pressure. I've tested this by lifting off a rock at a reachable height level. One without my Mana Pressure, and one with.'

'The results shown was that the rock would fall at an even greater pace as compared to without Mana Pressure. Of course, I didn't fill the whole room with Mana Pressure, only directing it around the space of the rock.'

'With that said and done, I only wish to have more experience in combat. Both my parents wouldn't spar with me, thinking that it's too early for me to experience.'

'As such, after dinner, I'd ask my sister if she'd be interested in having a 'bout with me.'
