23: Intermediate Spells

OVC 23 - Intermediate Spells

By the time Darius' magical energy had condensed in his Magical Core, the more sensitive he had become. Now, he could sense his surrounding up to a hundred meters to all direction and nothing hinder his Magic Field. He could see everything inside his field as clear as a day.

Ancient Mana, Crude Mana, Arcane Energy… All sorts of energy were detected in his Magic Field.

Every Mage's Magic Field are differs and unique, depends on how high their Rank is and the strength of one's magic ability to manifest one spell.

Darius, however, having 100 Meters wide Magic Field speaks volume of how strong he truly is. Within this radius, he could effectively alternate the reality and manifest his magic spell at a whim of his thoughts. No incantation or magic circle drawing were needed for Darius to cast one spell inside his Magic Field.

Although this ability was not listed in the Arcane System, Darius understood that this was a very crucial ability in order to survive in the dungeon, or any life and death battle.

Darius' current strength was sufficient to enter the dungeon. However, he didn't want to be complacent and opted to learn the Intermediate Spells first since pioneering a Dungeon Exploration was not an easy task.

As of for now, Darius had mastered Basic Elemental Spells in his disposal, he needs to learn Intermediate Spells to increase his survival rate in the dungeon.

Upon reading the book, Darius found hundreds of spells written both methodically and systematically so it was easy to understand.

Darius' eyes sparkling as he read every name of the spells like a kid in candy shop.

But of courses, he didn't want to be greedy and chose a practical spell that would be very useful in survival situation.

"Stone Walls, Aqua Vortex, Infernio, and Gale Strike, these spells would be an adequate choice. They are simple, and not very dependant on the user's stamina so it won't exhaust my physic in the long run if I had to survive for days onward."

With Alexa's assistance, Darius learnt the spells rather quicker than Alexa had anticipated. Moreover, Darius' innate talents in magic was very outstanding.

For a common Mage of his age, one would need at least two years to learn one spell. If it was Rank 2 Mage, one would need at least one whole year to learn one spell.

Darius, however, he only need one hour to learn one spell! Even Alexa herself was terrified by Darius' magic cultivation speed.

A few hours later, Darius had finished learning all the spell. He couldn't wait to test out his newfound strength.

However, his stomach seemed to disagree with him, it growled aloud and even cause a low echo in whole cave.

"I should have bring a lunch box with me before going here." Darius murmured.

[Haha!] Alexa chuckled. [Being a mortal is sure very inconvenient.]

"Indeed." Darius said. "Pray tell, once my body is strong enough, will I be able to survive without sustenance for months?"

[Yes. But it's still a long way to go. Now, let us return to the village. I am afraid your body will pass out the longer we spend our time here.]

Without further ado, Darius wrapped up his belongings and walked toward the exit.

By the time Darius had returned to the surface, it was already evening, the Giant Vulture who patrolled its territory swooped down from the sky with blinding speed.

Thanks to his Field of Magic and the beastly instinct, Darius dodged the sudden ambush with ease.

Darius casted the [Infernio] upward and hit the massive bird in one shot.

As the massive bird was falling from the sky like a broken kite, he leaped to the air and landed on the giant bird's back. It appeared Darius only deliver a single slash, but in reality, Darius hacked and slashed the birds into hundred pieces in a mere fraction of seconds!

When he sheathed his sword, rain of meat chunks and blood battered the ground below.

Darius landed on the ground a brief moment later. He was astonished by his newfound strength.

"Cultivation is amazing! Hehehe! It feels I could even take on the whole world if I want to!"

[Don't get ahead of yourself, Master. In this universe, there are countless godlike beings who lurked in the deep water. It would be very wise if you stay low-key until you are strong enough.] Alexa warned him, warmly.

"I know, I know…"

[Anyway, what are you going to do with those meats?]

Darius didn't answered. Instead, he inhaled deeply, accumulating his magical energy and howled as loud as he could to call the Alpha Snow Wolf, Old Fang.

Soon enough, Old Fang answered the call, a fine and more matured bowl resounded from the northern forest.

They ran like the wind, as they weaved through the dense foliage of trees. Not even a half hour later, Old Fang and his pack had arrived at the Westcliff.

Old Fang's domineering figure stood stall before Darius.

"What is this?" The giant snow wolf sniffed the pile of meats.

"I keep my promise. You can keep these meats for your pack."

Old Fang growled low. "We usually don't eat other carnivores. But I will accept it as tribute for our pact."

"I appreciate your consideration, Old Fang." Darius bowed, showing his respect.

Sniff, sniff.

Old Fang sniffed the air and turned his snout southward, he grinned from ear to ear. "Spice, rum, and dried meats. Seems like Little Mathilda is almost arrive. Tell her to visit my den once she finished her business in the village. I want to hear her stories."

For decades, Mathilda, the witch merchant lady, had in contact with the Undine Village even before Darius was born in spite of visiting the wolf cub that she left in this most remote island and that wolf cub was none other than Old Fang. Darius knew this fact when he was five.

Since Darius was so close with Old Fang, it was natural for him to listen to Mathilda's stories over the warm fire as he dozed off on Old Fang's back when he was still a kid.

Old Fang was like an elder brother for him while Mathilda was a great elder sister. Those two are the ones who keep Darius in check from time to time.

Darius smiled as the nostalgic memories played back in his mind. "Why don't you come to the village this time?"

Old Fang fiercely growled at Darius' face. "Do you want me to break the pact that had been established by your predecessors?"

"Yes, and let us make a new one. War is coming, and I need everybody in the same page with me."

"Hmph! Don't lump my kin with your stupid human's ideology!"

"And please don't blame me if your home engulfed in fiery inferno. Please, Old Fang, you are smartest creature I've ever know. You know for the better what's coming next."

Old Fang snorted, he then ordered his pack to carry the meats into the their den.

"We need times. I'll let you know our answer."

"Thank you." Darius nodded, a pang of sadness was palpable in the corner of his eyes as he spoke inwardly. "I hope you choose the right choice and join my cause. Or else, I'll need to harvest your Beast Core."
