Danny (2)

Inside a keyhole, a key slots in perfectly as the hole shifts, light seeping through the outskirts of the key. The key twists and a knocking sound is made, unlocking the door.

Danny pulls down on the handle, swinging his door open. He sits down and sits on his mat, grabbing both of his shoes. He slots his feet into the shoes, and a small gap between his socks and the interior of the shoe gave him a great fit.

He looks up and stares at the black-yellowish-white walls of his apartment complex, the yellowish-green flickering lights gave off an eerie atmosphere.

Danny heaves a sigh of relief as he stomps the ground with his shoes, getting comfortable inside them. He stands up and places his hand on his wall, fishing for the light switch.

He moves his hand down slightly and flicks the switch downwards, turning off the lights and fans. All the robots in his apartment stopped moving simultaneously, shutting down. He looks around for the final time, checking if he missed anything.

After pausing for a second, he turns back and walks out of the house, grabbing the door handle as he does so.

As he enters the corridor and closes the door, he could see the light from the yellowish-green light above him seep into his room.

The key twists backwards and the keyhole is set to its original position. Light cascades in as the key are taken out. Danny pulls down on the door again, for extra measures. He shakes it slightly and the door is kept shut, he's content.

He reaches into his pockets and takes out a Walkman with a pair of headphones. 'Vintage 1989' written in marker on a piece of yellowed tape, wires hanging out of the side connecting into his ears.

He presses a button to the side, whirling the tape inside of the Walkman backwards. It's barely visible through the cracked glass of the Walkman.

Danny takes another deep sigh, exhaling through his mouth and nose before placing his Walkman into his pocket, and walking down the corridor.

Music blasts in his ears as he goes around in his daily commute. Getting onto a train it's packed and filled to the brim with all sorts of people. Drug addicts wearing torn clothes sat next to a well-dressed businessman wearing expensive jewellery. A pregnant woman standing up talking on the phone as a child with half their face missing plays with a toy.

Danny finds an empty spot on the train and sits down. The cold plastic seats comforted his nerves, the sun shined brightly from the window behind him into his eyes. He turns around and stares out of the window as the train continues moving.

Everyone looked like small ants and pieces of black and white dots, walking along the streets and living their own lives. Each and every one of them had their own purpose and motives, yet they all seem to blend in with one another, like a computer-programed character.

Danny closes his eyes and tries to calm his nerves, letting the music calm him down. As he closed his eyes, he could feel the train shake slightly. He shrugs it off and lays his head on the back of the seat, trying to catch some shuteye.

"Run!" An old man grabs Danny by the head and places both of his hands on both sides of his face. Danny is shocked awake as he opens his eyes, the old man's upper body had been completely eviscerated. Blood splatters on Danny's face as a flash of light flashes past him.

Throughout the whole cart, anybody standing in the middle had a massive gaping hole burnt into them from the flash of light. The walls of the train were painted red from the bodies of those hit with the laser. Danny stands up, his entire body covered in blood as his music blasts even louder in his eyes. He stares down at the end of the train, as the wheels of the train slammed to a halt, creating a screeching sound.

At the foot of the train was a massive man, holding what looks like a laser cannon with a pig mask on his face. He was bloody and covered in scars, a massive gash down the side of his face which revealed his eye through the mask. Danny could feel the blood start to seep into his feet through his shoes.

Everyone started running in the opposite direction of the man, children and adults trying to run to safety. But Danny instead ran towards the man, his body reacted on its own. 'What am I doing?' He thinks to himself as he charges towards the man. The man hired countless lasers at Danny, each laser pierced his body and turned him into swiss cheese. But he kept on running, he ran as much as he could.

He reached his hand out, trying to grab the man in the pig mask but he fires another shot, this time at point-blank range. Danny could feel the skin of his hand melt off as his flesh is turned into a liquid and his bones turned to dust. His face blasted with the laser as he evaporated, wiped from existence without any trace.

Danny suddenly feels a jolt of electricity race through his body, he's awoken again and he sees the man in the pig mask shoot a massive jolt of light through the train cart. He's back in his seat, where he was and his body was completely intact. The song he was listening to had reversed back to where the song should've been when he sat down on the seat.

Danny looks down at the foot of the train and spots the man in the same pig mask. He stands up and the blood on the floor stains his shoes. He looks down and realizes this is exactly what happened just now. 'What?' Danny felt the same feeling again, to run towards the man. But this time, he ignored his thoughts and ran the other way.

He pivoted his feet a hundred and eighty degrees, immediately running towards the next cart. As he was gunning towards the door to the next cart, he trips over the corpse of a pregnant lady, her face mutilated with fear as her abdomen was blown to shreds from the shred of life.

Danny's face plants into the floor and splatters blood all over himself. He tries to stand up but he can't move his body, he felt weak in his joints and he could barely even handle his weight. He turns around and expects to look at the man in the pig mask. Instead, he's standing right in front of him, placing Danny's entire head inside the barrel of his cannon.
