"Even duty and honor all have limits... one is not expected to do beyond what duty obligates. Saving the family from the mob was your duty, nothing beyond that."
"You need not mourn the child after saving them from the mob...yet you do. Is this also your duty?" The dressmaker asked Estelle.
Estelle shook her head, the dressmaker was right. No one made the dragons do what they did, the world was often against them too...so why did they?
"Loyalty." Estelle adjusted her response.
The dressmaker smiled slightly and nodded.
"The cause to whom one has pledged loyalty determines the path... nothing else matters. Loyalty has no beginning and no end..."
"The Dragon kind is loyal to their vow to protect and uphold the realm... whilst I also have chosen to dedicate myself to the service of these protectors. That through my meager efforts, they may keep the world safe with no worries. It is the noblest cause, why should I require acknowledgement?"
