Old Valyria: House Baelaeron

Well, it's an SI in A Song of Ice and Fire, set in the time of Old Valyria. Read or don't. I may or may not update, we will see... As always, I don't own shit from A Song of Ice and Fire, but the characters I made up. The Universe and everything belongs to George R. R. Martin.

Chapter 14

I am trying to change the way I am writing here. More 3rd Person and describing what is happening. I am not really happy with the way I am writing, and maybe this is it. Let's see...

Kaelarys opened his eyes as he heard someone knocking on the door of his chamber. He groaned, annoyed at the ruined sleep and the lack of warmth he would face when getting up. He rose, careful not to wake the sleeping redheads. Not that it was easy, considering that all of them had their legs intertwined with each other. But he had gotten enough practice in the last few days.

The House used to belong to a rich spice trader from Qarth before he went bankrupt and had to sell the House. Apparently, this was because he had cheated on his wife, and she, in revenge, did everything in her power to ruin him while robbing him of his money. As we can see, it worked, and he got a House because of it.

He should maybe pay her a visit sometime in the future. He did want to visit Qarth, after all, and now she is a single, rich lady wanting all the world has to offer. And he had a lot to offer.

It had been around eight days since they defeated the Dothraki, and he had enjoyed everything that came with winning a 'war'. He enjoyed good food, wine, whisky, and most definitely women. Everything has been going pretty well in his opinion.

He pulled on a red robe that matched really well with his looks. He had gotten it when he went shopping with Lyara.

The knocking persisted, growing more insistent. He sighed, tying the robe around his waist and padding silently across the room. He opened the door just a crack, peering out to see who had disturbed his slumber. It was Mira, one of the slaves who maintained the Manor. She had olive skin that glowed softly in the dim light of the hallway, and her dark hair was neatly braided. He had bought her together with twenty other slaves, but she was the one he was most interested in. She just had something about her.

He had learned that she was from the Summer Isles before she was captured as a slave. She was on a voyage together with her father, who had been killed upon boarding, while she was taken to Volantis to train as a maid. She was comely enough to be considered pretty but nothing outstanding.

"Mira," Kaelarys whispered, stepping outside and closing the door quietly behind him. "What is it?"

"I'm sorry to disturb you, my lord, but you tasked me with bringing you breakfast in the morning," Mira said, her voice soft and deferential as she entered the room, her eyes downcast. In her hand, a tray with sausages, toast, butter, fruits, and something to drink, water, he supposes.

He remembered now. He had ordered her to wake him up if he wasn't awake already, as breaking his fast was the most important thing he needed in the morning. How absurd! He had clearly drunk too much yesterday, yet again. He couldn't help but chuckle at the irony of it all.

"I thank you, Mira." He said with a smile. Mira's cheeks flushed slightly at the praise as he took the tray from her hands.

"Is there anything else you require, my lord?" She asked.

Kaelarys shook his head. "No, Mira, you've done more than enough. You may go back to your duties." As she left, he closed the door with his legs and returned to the bedside, where he placed the tray down.

"Is our company this bad?" A voice asked him jokingly, and he turned towards the bed to see Myranda already awake. The only thing covering her was a bed sheet that she held close to her chest.

Kaelarys chuckled, shaking his head in mock disbelief. "Well, considering you're still here, I'd say it's not that bad after all," he replied with a grin, taking a seat on the edge of the bed.

"Can you two just shut up, please?" A second voice came from behind Myranda. They both turned to see Lyara stirring awake. She had her eyes closed, trying to get as far into the pillows as she could while pulling the bed sheet covers even closer.

"Hey," Myranda protested." Get your own sheet, and stop hogging them all for yourself."

Lyara grumbled sleepily, but eventually relented, shifting to allow Myranda to pull some of the covers over himself. "Fine, but don't blame me if you suddenly find yourself on the floor in the middle of the night," she muttered.

Over the last few days, he has come to know a great many things about both women, and one of them is that Lyara hates waking up. Why she chose the life of a soldier then was all the more questionable, but her fierce personality at least balance out her bad sleeping attitude. And a fierce redhead in bed was all the more enjoyable. Myranda was submissive in bed, and Lyara was the complete opposite. Like Ying and Yang. Who is he in the equation?...nobody knows.

While they continued bickering, Kaelarys made his way to the wardrobe at the corner of the room. He opened it to reveal a collection of finely tailored garments, each neatly arranged on hangers or folded on shelves.

Under them were a few velvet-lined drawers that were used to store his accessories like bracelets and rings. He had put runes on them as protection as there are some very rare and very costly treasures in them, such as the Valyrian steel ring currently in his hand.

It had cost him a fortune, but he found that he very much wanted it. He bought it with his own money and didn't request the money from his family, as this way he will value it even more.

He wants to make some handmade Valyrian Steel weapons and rings in the future, but that won't be the end of it. He wants to make them himself, and for that, he would need the knowledge. He knows that his family has it, but even he wasn't allowed to learn it just yet.

He got pulled out of his musings by two pair of hands sneaking their way around his body. "You are deep in thought again," Myranda said matter-of-factly while taking his hands and taking it in hers.

"Yes, because I will be leaving soon." He dropped the bomb. The two abruptly stopped what they were doing to look him in the eyes. Myranda's grip on his hands tightened, reluctant to let him go. It was clear why. They had spent a lot of time together in the last few days and enjoyed it greatly, especially Myranda, who had become accustomed to a life of freedom and joy, and she didn't want to return to her old ways. He had spent a good coin to get her to stay at his House for the duration of 8 days as she was a bedslave.

"I can't go with you," Lyara said, her voice heavy with regret. "As much as I'd love to, I have duties here as a captain. I can't just abandon them."

Kaelarys nodded understandingly, though disappointed. But such was reality; she had a life here and couldn't just abandon it." I understand," he replied softly, tracing a finger at her cheek and giving her a short but tender kiss. "But I promise I'll visit in the future."

Lyara blushed at his comment and hugged him harder, not wanting to leave his embrace.

Myranda bit her lip, her gaze flickering between Kaelarys and Lyara. "I... I would love to come with you," she admitted hesitantly. "But I'm just a slave. I can't leave."

Kaelarys soft expression changed to a serious one as he looked eyes with Myranda."We can change that," he said firmly. "I intend to buy your freedom, Myranda. You'll come with me as a free woman, if you wish."

Myranda's eyes widened in shock, her breath catching in her throat. Ever since she was made a slave at a young age, losing her parents to Pirates and having to endure countless horrors, she never had thought she could come to love a person ever again.

In the beginning, she thought nothing of him, just a boy like any other, even if handsome, who wanted nothing but her body to satisfy his lust. And as much as he wanted just that, he was kind and gentle and wanted her to feel good as well. Nobody ever thought of her feelings, and in time, she felt no more than an object for a purpose, for that was what she was. But with him, she felt different. He treated her like a person, with respect and kindness, and in his company, she began to remember what it felt like to be human again. She wanted to grab the chance; she had to because this was the first and only chance she would ever get.

With each passing day, her feelings for him grew stronger until she realized with a jolt that she had fallen in love. It was a terrifying realization, one that filled her with both hope and fear. But now, as he offered her freedom and a chance to be by his side, she knew she had to seize it.

Tears welled up in her eyes as she looked at him, her heart overflowing with gratitude and affection. "Then I'll come with you," she said, her voice trembling with emotion. "Thank you, Kaelarys. Thank you for everything. I'll go wherever you go, for as long as you'll have me."
